mate it doesnt look cheap or tacky. it just doesnt please the eye because its slightly too big. if it were smaller there wouldn't be any issue IMO. the ignitor looks nice black. good move.
-
Im not taken on that sticker being on the ignitor mate. It also gets pretty hot. I love your bay, I think the bay is looking sweet, but I don't think that suits. Not knocking it, as I like the sticker, its a 3D one I assume? I think it would be better suited to the dash maybe...?

700WHP would be possible on stock pistons but wouldn't of thought they would like that for long. with a 1.3-1.6 gasket you could do that with high compression easiy enough. Not everyone has had good results from water meth though. It the next step for me, as I'd like a safer tune with high compression turbo engine. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=937176 ^^ Basic water/meth information. David P is running this with his AEM on his supercharger. He is aiming for 14psi on stock HG & pistons good lad!

Thanks mate. Grabbed a nice video of the drive into work but being damp the traction was aweful when I touched the throttle. I'll grab some shots over the weekend Got a set of UK fronts to pay for, then its the hunt for boost controller that works. You still looking into going 600bhp. Should be awesome that project!

I have 440's mate Duuuuuuuuuuuuude the problem is fixed. My idea of removing the intercooler piping was so I could go through the rev range with the engine. Driving it about on idle or just driving it without boost wasn't the aim, the aim was to disconnect the ECU and run the engine and see what the fault was. Turned out (I hope - its gone without amendments) it was an error with the stock ECU. A flat battery (I think) has reset errors or adjustments in the ECU and its now running like a dream. Video'ed the drive to work and couldn't be happier I wanted the engine to be running rich, as it is too lean, and would confirm I had found the problem if the mixture ratio changed.

Bossco, is that a blitz dual drive BOV?

Im sure your eat mine for breakfast mate. It feels smoother than my dyno run, I'm soooo confident I'm hitting better figures, but without a dyno run its just theory and not worth talking about. For now, I'm somewhere around the dyno run. You ever thought of water/meth injection? It would be such a simple job while you have everything out.

My limit is 7psi as i have a 7psi spring in the wastegate. without meth injection i have no need for go further. now its running ok im aiming for more than a boost increase will grab me alone.

The problem with my engine was I had a water leak, the engine was running lean and I had a flat battery, and since the problem has been solved. This I expect was down to the ECU trying to correct a problem which just wasn't there, leaving everything disconnected has cleared the fault, and everything runs fine. It now pulls like a train and I couldn't be happier I think it's down to personal choice. Lots of guys haven't had any issues

If you can't afford a TT, then you buy an NA. You put alot of hard work into your NA and effort making it look and feel how you want it. Suddenly you have to replace the engine or modify your own, it's easier and cheaper (if you do the work yourself) to NA-T. If it goes wrong, cheaper to replace. It's also more fun building your own engine. Yes going single turbo for BPU power isn't big numbers, but people driving 220bhp want more power, this is the option. If they could afford a TT lump if all goes wrong OR swap in a 6speed or afford the odd R154 that lies about, they probably would of been able to buy a 6speed TT in the first place. It comes down to money, and what you have. You can peace together the kit, bit at a time, and spec your engine how you want it. "Just go buy a TT" is easy to say when you can afford it. T61 turbo XS manifold 7mgte 440cc injectors Lightweight flywheel Emanage Ultimate With it running too lean and not firing right, I pulled 373bhp at 7psi, 310whp. Future mods I hope to get a decent boost controller (current one doesn't work), and install a water/meth system. Possible custom cams, just for the fact to try something different And maybe one day... Jekyl will sell me his R154

Everyone has their own opinion, both produce good power. 400bhp with single turbo or 400bhp with twinturbo. I prefer the single. Going NA-T costs next to nothing if you fit the parts yourself. What about millage? I know I have a good NA engine, how do you know what quality of TT engine your buying?

Car is now fixed, just took it for a drive, never felt better or stronger. Pulls like a train, couldn't be happier. Car had a flat battery last night, and this morning was completely dead. Since being recharged, it runs like a dream. The garage are surprised the difference, and said it runs fine.. Since it never ran as smooth as it should since I collected the car, I was unsure if they knew how well it should of been running as the problem got worse since collecting the car. The problem got worse from one day to the next, and problems were still unknown. Because when the car pulled 373hp but not smoothly, now the traction feels aweful. I've always known first gear was an issue, but now second gear loses itself fairly easy, like first without a turbo on a damp day. I can imagine on a slightly damp day any gear would now be an issue. Thanks to everyone who has sent me parts to try and given me advice. At this moment in time, it seems the most likely culprit was the stock ECU playing about when I drove 250 miles with a slight water leak on the HT leads, recording an error and not correctly itself once the water had been removed. The engine was giving low emissions, and running too lean. Since it was running sweet, the emissions have gone up, showing the engine is now rich and running right. Uk front brakes.. then get this water meth business on the go... HAPPY NOZ

That's not 400bhp though mate, TT bhp is 280bhp (import). You would need to BPU it.

Welcome to the club, it's very friendly here Sounds like you have warped discs. Is the sound a knock, or a click from your near side corner? Is the car lowered atall. The SSQV is a nice bov, would like one for mine

What is your choice of tranmission, the demon R154 I expect?
-
Looks good! Impressed with the outcome.
-
Yuk. Don't like that. Maybe with the dish polished it would look mint like nice wheels.

TT power is only 60bhp(Import)-100(UK)bhp more. with a stock NA-T kit your looking at 150 extra bhp. A standard kit with net you more power than any stock TT engine. Obviously most twinturbos are BPU or have engine upgrades, but with high compression that fights against the lag reduction of having a twin set up. You've already bought your car, and given it lots of time, love, and emotions, peice your kit together and put some boost into it. I wouldn't ever recommend starting a project with an NA though, as it's far more sensible bang-for-buck to get the TT in the first place, and get a 6speed and the only limitation is going to be your income. If you had a GTE lump, you would never be looking up on compression ratio worries or stupid stuff like "I need new plugs, now I've got to remove all that intake nonsense off the top of my engine".

Hi guys, I have a fuel cut defender installed, and resistors for the injectors. To get my engine running NA once again, I assume all I have to do is remove the ECU, connect the wires back up, and leave the resistors in for the injectors. Im hoping it will be rich, as its currently too lean and would explain some problems I've been having. Will I need to remove the fuel cut defender, or can I leave this in. When its removed, I will attach the stock air box and run the engine, the turbo or piping won't be removed, I will just disconnect the IC piping to the intake, the car should in theory run stock with bigger injectors, eliminating the ECU to be faulty. Thanks

Unless you have a SZ-R, I think NA-T option would win every time. You will come up against limitation of the transmission, if you can afford to change this to a 6speed to handle 700+ bhp then you probably wouldn't have bought an NA in the first place. The NA engine will tune to 350-400bhp easily with a conversion and tune using the right components. Get your basic NA-T shopping list, leave the car at a decent garage and they will collect the minor components not so obvious to the beginneer supra owner. Going TT will net you twinturbo 400bhp with BPU style, but you can have this on an NA engine with single turbo love. If you have an engine failure, NA engines are cheap and you can always remove the kit and sell the car on as you wish and sell the parts. Reliability comes down to less stress on the engine due to lower compression and components designed for slightly higher power. Leaving room for big power with a TT lump is alright as long as you don't mind raiding your piggy bank for that 2.5k v160 gearbox swap out.

Thats good power, but you would require less psi with a higher compression. TT's run higher compression than stock and have no problem. David P is going to be running about 500bhp with stock compression using water meth, I don't see for an extra 100bhp you would need to lower compression as much as that. You can run the NA up to 9psi safely, 10psi pushing the limit, and with water/meth these engines have run to 14psi/1bar on stock compression, pistons and gasket. Lower compression will probably be less stress on the engine, but you will require more fuel and more air for the same power as a lower compression, so best to go as far as possible with stock compression. TT pistons have a dish lowering the ratio, the material structure is the same, so it considered just as hard but with the same compression ratio your engine will react differently. I am unsure the max power from the emanage, I think 600bhp probably would be do-able with water injection as a safe guard, there isn't a bhp limit on things like this, it's just what supporting modifications you have to allow them to run safely. Craig runs 500hp with no issues on the EMU, another 100bhp with water injection to safe guard against knock doesn't sound unrealistic. I think the price of 600bhp will get very heavy if you choose the v160 route. Plus, there is no warrenty that it will not fail. I know they are bullet proof and people have sell they for big bucks before they are reliable, but you would run fine with a R154 at that power, and would still have room for a bit more and save yourself a large wedge. No advantage to a 6speed NA-T unless you have big pockets mate, if your considering going stand alone AND 6speed, your looking at an easy 4k straight away without any extra components, fitting or tuning. R154 FTW

Welcome. Nice front end of the supra. Does he own the rest of the car?
