So, let's try and move this on a bit shall we. Would the ring designs have a recess for the ring to sit on, or can they sit around the ring, wondering about what designs have already been made. Taking measurements later to get some prototypes on the go. How much do these usually cost, I need to have a general price in mind to wager with manufacturing costs don't want to waste their or our time with this.

If you want dials I can order these as well. I will get cheaper prices than if you order direct. Just trying to help I supply them cheaper and exactly the same product

Wonder what the T61 is good for? Do you reckon it would enjoy 600hp?

Paying someone to strip a gearbox just for peace of mind could turn out to be expensive.

Yea I like it as well, but was worried about life of the expensive turbo, I mean 350 quid is alot for a turbo I'm running a BOV, it's a blitz dual drive. It flutters then fully dumps after letting some pressure out. Ive tried adjusting it doesn't really make any difference (maybe not adjusting it enough). I swapped the BOV for another one to see what the difference was and it didn't even dump just fluttered constantly. I've had well over 7000 miles and it not any different from the day I installed it but thought it was worth looking at as I'm replacing all my hosing anyway.

Any particular reason to wanted to recondition it? Or is it just to be on the same side.

Does anyone else get flutter really bad? I'm going to do a little schematic later of my vacuum circuit, to see if I can understand what's causing it and if it could be a problem.

^^^ Try what hodge said. Completely taking them apart may be over solving the problem, may just be a small leak somewhere

From setups I've seen and read about, 600bhp will be fine. It's usually torque that breaks boxes.

unless your minted, the R154 is the better option. the getrag is proven time and time again better for sure, but you can buy at least 5 R154's for 1 getrag, is it worth the cost if your not going to use the performance? W58's take a good beating. some guys have trouble at 360bhp. parry had 427hp and his lasted since he dropped it in there. Jekyl ran his at 450+ levels for a little bit before it gave way and crumbled. They aren't naff boxes just not up to a beating AND most importantly guys, not all boxes are treated or looked after the same, which is strange because all R154's go for the same sort of price.

In my opinion, W58 is idela for BPU. R154 is a stronger box than mk4 W58 and few guys are pushing over 400bhp with the W58, so he R154 could be looked on as a more reliable option but definitely not a BPU level box. R154 are rated comfortabe at 600bhp without issues, as long as they have been looked after. I've heard of them pushing silly power but seeing is believing.

Keep looking. Don't stop looking and start again when the money comes around, I was looking for two years while I sorted my finances out, I was looking every day on pistonheads learning about prices. Then when I had the money within 6 months I found a black manual that I was after. Longer you look more your know when the time comes and it will motivate you staring at these cars!
