  1. Hey gazzi123 it's normal for this to happen! think of it like electricity, the power will always go for the route of least resistance its the same with cars without a lsd (limited slip diff) the power will take the easy route! if your astra did this then its unusual but with a front drive car the gearbox is on the side of the engine ( trans axle i think its called) this set up also throws in that power will tend to go to the shortest drive shaft. the solution is to go for an lsd. then the more power/torque you put through the diff to one wheel the more the diff will grab and force the other to take up the effort!! simples!

    Guess The Car

i know what the first two are but what's the third one? the first two bieng hypercars it must be something worthy!!
  3. Thanks for the link and number mustang! will call them soon and get some info but i won't be able to get anything specific because he will need to see the car to discover the full scope of work needed! Mr jagman i will see what happens when the clutch is fitted but the catch is that i'm doing the clutch! i work as a diesel fitter so not a complete plum with a spanner! This is a problem as some of the parts will need someone knowledgable about tuned component recognition! don't suppose every little part will have a brand stamp and part number.
  4. No need Mr jagman if you say so i believe you! i was just thinking that the extra capacity will give more outright torque, the stroker components are balanced well and off course some of the kits like srd's are rated over 1000hp so asking those revs and that power would only stressing them a about 4/5ths of there potential! Mr jagman you clearly know a lot about the subject and are well respected within the forum can i ask you this as part of my research! you know the rough spec of my car you know that i'm after any where from 800-900hp (fly wheel) using race fuel if need be! how would you go about it??? i have 13,000 pound so far and the clutch and hypertune plenum are not from this fund so what do you recomend! i am willing to save more to get it done right but for now thats it! your help would be greatly appreciated!
  5. i was thinkin about 8000rpm i'm getting some stuff prepped for the build first so it's plans are still changable! i've noticed that at the moment i'm sure it revs to 7500-7800rpm and the last 200rpm or so is where it pulls the hardest, seems the power is still comin up when the last shift light comes on to say i should of changed gear a light ago! (theres three shift lights). the turbo was discused with Paul at whifbitz as a new version of a borg warner unit don't know which one though. Mr jagman the size of the band of power is not a problem really as this is just all being done not for any perticular motorsport event. what spec i have is apparently unknown exactly or atleast some what hazey. all i can say for what i wish for is well same as most i suppose a 1000hp bike killer but these are wishes for a reason it won't happen! i was thinkin that if i had a good built head and a stroker kit with main caps then i would get more torque low down and scary power high up and of course the big rpm capability's thats all! even if i have to push e85 to get the 900hp! would be about 800rwhp instead of fly power. always went for an over build before thought the same way here. i'll speak to some more tuners while i do the prep work see what comes about.
  6. i know it's more addictive than crack!! :d i only want more because although its a quick car it's not holly sh#t quick! the only reason you know its fast is by lookin at the speedo and i want to feel quick! maybe it's not running right! thought about trying to make it lighter instead of more power to but twice i've been raped by subaru's and i don't mean off the line. this led me to plan more power! i've spoken to Paul at whifbitz ( he's supplying my clutch which should be on it's way now) and he said the power i wanted was within reason but i'll need to discuss 900hp see what he thinks but due to not having exact details on the car as i said it means stripping to nut and bolts and checking everything either way!
  7. to be honest Mr JamieP i don't know it doesn't but the reciept i have is for "customer supplied HKS pistons and rods" this was stated in the work carried out box! the arp bolts/studs are on the same reciept so i presumed they where done at the same time the guts where out the car. you said there's no rods and you don't know about bolts/studs! the link Tooquicktostop (Dean) gave does not mention rods or bolts in the spec list! i have no reason to doupt what you say so hence there is none! you know the car and old owner i don't! just wanted a supra since i was about ten and seen this one and thought hell yeh thats a good starting point and within the 20grand budget i had at the time.
  8. Mr jagman i understand what you are sayin and i do watch like many others Mr JamieP's car with shock at what the engineers at toyota built back then! almost three times the standard power is just incredible! i'd like to run a very high rpm limit but its down to this...i have a reciept for an os giken clutch it has a hks clutch, it has reciepts for rods it has standard ones, i have reciepts for arp bolts and studs it has none! i know the standard stuff is quality but the way things have come about the only thing i'm confident in is it has a single turbo coz i can see it!! the people on here know more than me about this car and my budget was 13grand to get another 188hp but i want confidence in it! i'm gonna have to break this engine to it's basic parts and check everything! if thats the case it's better to start from scratch and go whole hog!! forget my original budget it won't happen and the time scale (by next summer) and build something special. i ment no disrespect Mr Jagman i was not mugging off original rods!
  9. its chipped the laquere on one but the other has a nick in the metal! should be able to wet and dry it out but need to get it done properly as i like the wheels and it's not even effected the ballance or any thing!..still mint! the state of engine tune has me concerned though have a reciept for pistons and rods,i guess it's just new stock rods then! all i can say is i feel a stroker kit comin on! this new info makes me think i should just start from scratch and bin the lot i have! infact bollox think i will i'll get my hypertune maybe this week then i'll get a built head orderd from whifbitz and i'll save for one of srd's stroker kits with billet crank and main caps! i'll hope that the blocks good (but i'll check of course) start from the ground up, the catch is if i take this route it won't be an 800hp build it'll be as much as i can safley push! clutch is good for 900hp so there's a start.
  10. well thank you Dean its nice talkin to yah! And i now know where Ellon is and thats a bit further than i was hopping to be honest if needs must then of course but there must be some where closer than a four hour ish drive! and what about wheels there must be someone that has needed a refurb other than me i'm not the only one that has had an oops in a supra! i'd like to be able to pop back and forward to check on my baby during the painting proccess! You know how it is!!
  11. thought the colour wasn't normal!! now i know! anyway that does'nt say anything about rods, crank, main caps or specifics on head work so thats where i'll start me thinks!! engine's no where near that clean any more and none of those coloured hoses are there any more!! well after christmas i'll have the clutch, hypertune manifold, rad and pulleys so then it's down to either whifbitz or srd to start the build depending on who can do it they are buisy people i understand! cheers for the link "tooquicktostop"
  12. you know him eh! is Mr jonty still a member on here or has he moved on after selling me his car would like to confirm some mods as i said there's some things that i don't know about! and yes there's most defanetly a fortune spent on this car i have the reciepts to prove it! just sorting a suspention knock and the wheels i pranged a bit first then the project really kicks in! excitted let me tell you though!! :d oh and you can all laugh the wheels where chipped by me when i lost it on a roundabout two months back!! first part of the drift went well then oops!.. to much!! still straight just scratched the laquer off think one has some nicks in the actual metal! beet me to it thanks chap!!
  13. unfortunatly most of the work was done by the old owner so needs checked first! not to change the threads nature i'll give the basics of what is believed on the car! HKS 272 cams (other head work unknown if any) HKS pistons (crankwork unknown if any) twin fuel pumps, swirl pots, pressure reg,1000cc injectors AEM ems and supporting electronics 4" exhaust down pipe,4"vielside TI exhaust mid and back section FMIC (unknown type and capability) gt4088 turbo on HKS manifold so the plan is the hks clutch is being swapped for a carbonetic twin plate (900hp rating) the viscouse fan is being deleted and bigger rad fitted. i'm ordering a hypertune plenum next week. all new pulley's and a crank damper. the AEM's gettin swapped for a syvecs hopefully. the turbo is being replaced with a borg warner unit! other than that its checkin the state of the rest of the parts to confirm they are what they say they are! maybe billet crank, might go for 3.4 stroker while i'm at it with billet main caps. head might get flowed to. the car was baught from jurgen vallons and was said to be built very well! it's 612 at 1.6 bar boost at the moment and the race fuel setting puts out an unknown amount. the car apparently used to belong to another member think Jamie P knows him called "jonty" i think. goes well as is but you know there's always room for more. revs to over 7500rpm so hope there's been some stuff i don't know about done as thats not good for a normal engine, power still feels like it's climbing when the shift light comes on so who knows! i'll need to see what the state of play is like when i get the engine pulled and sized up for the new additions. oh yeah where's Ellon?? long way from Dunfermline??
  14. Alrighty fellow supra owners once again i need your advice! I as my info say's live in Fife (when i'm actualy home) and am undertaking a project for the winter, The engine is going from 612hp to 800hp ish and i'm gonna clean up the body work which is where i'm stuck! not being in the uk i can't scout about to find a good painter! i'm looking to get the rear bumper cut free ( it's been blendid in by the previouse owner) and the rest of the car touched up. there's some scratches and such on the wings etc. i'm not changing the colour so it's not back to bare metal just re-painted to touch it up! Also the rear wheels have been dinged (by me!) and need refurbed before some new rubber goes on! they're not buckled but i've removed a bit of lacker. any body got experience of any good painters/wheel repairers in this area?? don't mind a bit of a jurney to find one but not stupid distance as i'd like to check up on the car every once and a while!
  15. Yes get a carbon one and paint it! if you buy one the colour of your car it probably won't match any way due to fade and such! I believe Mr Whiffin of whiffbitz does the siebon stuff and they have two or three types to choose from!
  16. think individual throttle bodies would be a lot harder due to having to make sure they open in perfect unisin which has multi linkages and such! this way has less moving parts and only the shape of the plenum to control flow to each cylinder, don't want all the forced air to go more to one cylinder than another for mapping reliability reasons. might be talkin complete gash but thats my thoughts on it but i'm no race engineer or flow dynamics expert!
  17. holly sh*t look at that!!! think i just let out some sex wee!! i want one!.. i thought the red runners was just put on the picture for extra drule factor they actualy like that? if it is i'll need to match some hoses and stuff to match but my cars black and was thinkin of blue hoses. although the oil cooler i have has red/blue anodized fittings so red might work.
  18. had me thinkin there!!! checked the site and there's a kit for relocating it but looks like your right it's more about the shiney stuff than an actual need for fitting the manifold, any way i've got about two weeks till i'll be ordering the stuff so still time for me to get my facts in! out of interest how much should i gain from this manifold currently running hks 272 cams,gt 4088 tubby and 1000c injectors on aem ems with all supporting mods pistons rods arp bolts all over?? the tubby needs changin for a bw one for 800hp but just wondering?? 10-15hp with mapping on current setup?
  19. The other thing that i should of asked while i'm on the subject is the virtual works requires a power steering relocation kit and there is one available on the phr web site! i take it the hypertune needs the same thing and can you just order one from some where or is it custom fab that'll be needed? can the one on phr's site be used for either manifold!

    Project HHO

sorry mate realy new to this so i'll put it simply! what the hell is that??
  21. Ok people i have a question! don't know if it should be in the tech section but it can be moved if i'm wrong. On my way to producing 800hp i've been left with a choice and wonder what one is better or which one you would have so!....The intake on my supra is standard at the moment but will be getting changed to release some power and let the engine breath so would you have a hypertune manifold or a virtual works manifold?? they both can flow more power than i'm after according to the sale pitches but is there a difference? is one made better than the other or is it down to the power they will release or simply a name brand thing!...the hypertune is about 200 quid more! penny for your thoughts????
  22. very kind of you Mr Whiffin and i'd be happy to pay by these means if it's your preference and of course money saved is money for the rest of the project! would you like me to call the shop to arrange the details or would you like me to pm/e-mail you to make arrangements? i also would like your thoughts on if i should go for one of your cylinder heads to get to my goal! was thinkin stroker maybe as i think i have hks pistons and con rods at the moment, hypertune plenum with one of your heads as think mine is stock apart from hks 272 cams and pulleys, also believe it has arp bolts top and bottom but not sure if my current spec is man enough for the part. i'd rather start from scratch to be sure! this clutch thing got me concerned about wether the reciepts i have actualy match whats in the car!
  23. Tease!!! All i can say is it's still 400quid savin so even after postage it's a bargain. Which just leaves me to say "sold to the man in the back with the supra that hardly moves!" he-he! I'll go through your site on friday when i finish work and make appropriate actions. i hope your ok with posting it to scotland! of course these costs will be mine if you approve.
  24. well i've been checkin with some tuners to find the clutch that i'm after and as the carbonetic site doesn't list any dealers in britian it was down to ordering one from ireland!, whilst i was bored yesterday i came across a site that sells them for alot less than the irish company! Now this brings me to my point the site is yours Mr Whiffin! you never said YOU could get the twin plate that i need for some 600quid less than the other site you cheaky monkey! Can you still get these for the price stated on your site or is it a tease?
  25. damn looks as though its 2631 euro on a carbonetic plus postage from ireland as thats the closest place that deals them apparently!! that sucks sausage coz i have to fix whats not workin first then get the power up'd! that means the hole power upgrade needs nockin back to allow funds to build! there are some parts that need investigating before i wind her up to! things like turbo capability, valve springs, head check if flowing required, crank condition (think its ballanced but it's standard as far as i know) so much to be done and i'm not making lots of cash so lots of time spent in the hotel being bored to save as much as posible for the project. still will be worth it when i take the first drive of the new spec and plant the boot!!!
