  1. Got it on the front of my GSXR and you can't see it at all....
  2. Yeah that's it look. It's a very thin clear plastic film that protects your paint and isn't really visible once it's on...... http://www.3mventureshield.co.uk/
  3. Yeah, I get that issue following other bikes when I'm riding, as bike tyres are very sticky when warm and throw all the crap they find back at you. Makes you jump when a stone clouts your visor! lol. You should look into venture shield after you get your bumper re-sprayed. I use it on some of my road bikes and it's good stuff for preventing unwanted stone chips.
  4. The seals will get replaced as part of the rebuild.
  5. Jealous a holes! I've rented another garage for mine, as the one at the house has got my bikes in (need power for optimate chargers). I'd do the same if you can. It's the only way you can really try and keep it out of harm and the weathers way. Whereabouts in Kent are you?. You're welcome to stick it in my rented garage while my Supra is at SRD if you're not using it daily?
  6. Awesome Luc, very jealous! Love how good your Supra still looks next to all the really expensive modern machinery that was there...... A real menacing presence about it Even next to the GTRs it looks big. I bet it was one of the best sounding cars there too.
  7. Sounds awesome Luc, have fun you lucky bugger! I've got a track bike and love getting out on a circuit, but haven't had the chance to use it once this year coz I've been so busy with work
  8. Rebuilds start from $2099 for a stage 1. This includes strip, clean and rebuild with the replacement of synchros and up to 2 gears if required (further new gears are extra). There is also stage 2 which adds further replacement gears if required and threaded forks and stage 3 which adds ISF REM micro polishing to all meshing surfaces. Shipping works out at about £350 each way if you shop around.
  9. Quick update. Just received an email from Jacks Transmissions saying that my box has been stripped and inspected and is now awaiting rebuild. Apparently internals are in good condition apart from a knackered 3rd gear synchro as expected (pictured below). They also said they can fix my issue which causes shifting to become tight when the box gets hot. They said it can be alleviated by polishing the shift rails before reassembly. So good news really The service Jacks have provided so far has been excellent and they have sent me updates at each stage and have promptly answered any questions I've had. I highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for someone they can trust to overhaul their V160 / V161.
  10. Me too! Should be one hell of a Supra turn out!
  11. Cheers Chris. Look forward to seeing you at Bluewater at some point. What sort of spec Supra have you bought then?
  12. I know all about your gold fettish Mitch lol
  13. John already had it featured as a cover car in Japanese Performance Magazine, but I would be happy to have it featured again or in another magazine if there is any interest once the build is finished.
  14. No, I like it carbon I'm afraid. It's in keeping with the carbon spoiler blade and end caps and mirrors and the wrapped front lip (would like to find someone to skin this). Plus I think it's criminal painting carbon parts. If you wanna paint it, buy it in Fibreglass. Yes with carbon there's more strength and it's lighter, but carbon looks like a work of art when light hits it and reflects off the fibres of the weave (yes..... I think I may have a carbon fibre fettish lol)
  15. It's not black, it's carbon fibre lol
  16. Not sure why the bay pic has come out upside down? Lol
  17. Also for the pic hungry amongst you, I found some pics of the day I picked the car up from JM Imports......
  18. I don't think the brace kit is AS strong as having billet mains, as if it was, then people just wouldn't bother going to the expense and effort of having billet mains fitted anymore. I'm sure Lee will know the definitive answer to that though. The name change dilemma may end up having to go to a vote Kaan lol As far as pics go Geo, I haven't got a lot to offer yet as I live a fair distance from SRD, but I'm sure Lee will update the thread with some good pics of what's going on soon.
  19. Lol a few people have mentioned that Jay. She may end up being christened with a new name once the build is finished...... however there won't be any smashing of champagne bottles on the bonnet to mark the occasion lol
  20. Cheers for the nice comments guys. Really looking forward to getting out and enjoying the car more next summer and meeting more of you and seeing your cracking Supra's in the flesh
  21. Thought it was probably best to start a new project thread detailing my journey with my Supra which was previously John's (Hodge) TRD widebody car, which has become affectionately known as 'The Kraken'. Most people on the forum seem to know the car and are aware of its current spec from John's original build thread ( http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?196108-Hodge-s-(The-Kraken)-Supra-build ) so I won't go into that. Having owned her for a short while now, I decided I wanted to make a few changes to better suit what I'd like from the car and also sort out a few other things on the way. I went down to see Lee at SRD after all the good things I'd seen and heard and after a long chat with him about what I wanted and how would be best to go about achieving this, I left the car in SRDs capable hands for the work to be carried out. I told Lee there was no rush or deadline, as I wouldn't need the car back until at least next summer. Perhaps the biggest change I wanted to make was the turbo setup. I know some people may disagree with this choice, due to the lengths Hodge went to to obtain and fit the GT47 T6 kit. I know it looks amazing when you pop the bonnet too, but I decided the driving experience was more important to me. I wanted something a bit more 'streetable' with better spool, but I didn't want to sacrifice too much power for this, as the sledge hammer like kick up the arse from the GT47 when it comes on boost is addictive After some discussion over which Turbo setup would be best for the job, it was decided that the soon to be released Precision Turbo PT6870 would be the best candidate. Reported figures for this turbo sound awesome, with the spool of a 67mm and the power of a 71+mm unit. Unfotunately I can't just change out the turbo, as the GT47 is a T6 setup, so I will be using a new Zircotec white ceramic coated Whifbitz T4 manifold with twin Turbosmart external waste gates (with screamer pipes). Also, my gearbox was annoying me as it was crunching a bit into 3rd when shifting at high revs and was becoming very tight when it got warm. So SRD removed the box and it is currently at Jacks Transmissions in the US having a complete overhaul. I know it's a long way to send it, but these guys are meant to be the best when it comes to V160's (just look at the detail they go into with the V160 on their website). I know these boxes are meant to be a nightmare to overhaul and the last thing I wanted was the chance of more / different issues post overhaul. Other work to be carried out includes installing a brace kit to the main bearing caps for added bottom end strength (an alternative to having billet mains and all the necessary machining work required to Fit them), new HKS mk2 adjustable cam gears (tougher gear teeth) and gates belt and also installation of a flex fuel sensor to allow me to run Ethanol in the future. I'm sure there'll be more too, but I'll update later lol. Lee has kindly agreed to update this thread as the work goes on with details and photos etc. so everyone on here can see what's going on as the work progresses. Can't wait to get her back already
  22. Cheers mate, not fair for me to take any of the credit really though. It's all other people's hard work that's made / making her what she is. I'm just funding the fun lol
  23. I'm confident she's in good hands at SRD Looking forward to taking her to her first Bluewater meet too, as I still haven't had a chance yet.
  24. Interesting, what's the widest tyre you can get away with on a 12J rim then? Mine is currently on 315's. Wouldn't mind something beefier in the future, but would have to look into whether there would be any clearance issues first.
  25. Nice idea Luc, not sure how far we'll get though lol. These turbos will sell like hot cakes if they live up to the claims during testing
