  1. BT are such a bunch of loosers! F**k them and change to BE! I am a BE Pro customer for 3.5 years now and have been on their 24MBPS line all this time and their 24/7 sales and technical support is amazing. I highly recommend, they also provides you with 1 static IP in case you have a server. I am also getting upload speed of upto 2.5 MBPS uploads! Nobody else can beat it on a copper wire!
  2. what a retard! Blew up the engine!
  3. Well I made a special situation in the market (MS not opening up the code, not being innovative and not complying with standards) which would never happen. So MS wont go BUST either ;-)
  4. Nope, you are getting the worng end of my comment. If MS dont come out openly releasing the code and not make it easier for other 3rd parties to develop their products (which is detrimental to MS), then I will be jumping the boat (only if google provides a better alternative)! It is a commercial market out there and no place for petty emotions! If the market is taking this direction then we will be left behind if we dont jump the boat which will effectiveky end our business!
  5. MS got the essentials covered so all of us somehow will keep using their sw (atleast for now). But google is very addictive! At this time I dont thing google and MS are competing, they are on different verticals. Probably they are preparing for an assault on each other in the future (google seems to be a head for this assault with that area covered). Everybody else (other companies) is just a noise for these two giants. If the noise gets loud enough they just end up buying the company that makes the most noise. Coming to me, I think MS is opening up and it is understanding the benefits of developing sw to standards and making the code open. I am always ready to jump the boat to google if MS cannot compete in the open. MS and Google forever!
  6. Is there any way you can take the title bar away on the top of the opera browser? I would only like to have tabs on the top and address bar underneath that.
  7. Ok if you are so smart, you name who else is offering me a solution to deploy all my application in the cloud today! PS: I do know Amazon IBM and Salesforce are offering but I think MS is the cheapest
  8. I am not talking about companies MS or Google using cloud. I am talkking about companies offering could/distributing computing to the masses. You dont need a server + software (OS, databses +backup + load balancing etec etc) inhouse anymore (unless you have very confidential data). You can just use MS cloud it is freaking cheap!
  9. This was october 2008! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/7694471.stm It is fully live from 1st Feb 2010.
  10. You are totally worng again mate! To be if you want to run today the only infrastructure available to buy servers in cloud or run applications in cloud it is only MS! PS: I do know there is an amazon/Verizon cloud kicking around but I dont hear much about it.
  11. Microsoft is one of the biggest investors in cloud based distributed computing aswell. Have you heard about Windows Azure Framework, Windows Live etc etc You can get more info about windows azure in here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Azure_Services_Platform If you want to know pricing it is here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsazure/pricing/ This is one of the cheapest platforms available today for use. You can get windows cloud machine with as many processors you like or as much memory you like dynamically in the azure cloud.
  12. I totally agree with your statement, but is it not the best part of being British ?? I dont have any remeorses for having a life style like this - WHICH IS having the best of all worlds!! I am loving it
  13. I know you guys are bashing MS coz you made up your mind way before to take the other side (inherently I know the main reson is that MS charges for their s/w, but that is for another day). I was at MIX 08 in reading and the whole conference started off with a key note speech talking about IPhone and why IPhone is so successful and how most of the employeed in MS uses IPhone. Why IPhone is so successful and how MS lost the spirit and the end user/consumer experience model of developement. I can promise you MS is doing a big revamp for a couple of years now and they are coming up with some big stuff in the near future in all of its product line (they are scrapping some of the products aswell that are not that good). But personally I cannot chose between MS and Google, though many say they are competing but they are more like complementing for now (which will not be the case in the future).
  14. Looks like this is the best laugh I had today!! Ha ha ha... I will somehow try and forget that this question was ever asked and believe in humanity and that we are moving forward.
  15. Great work! You got one sexy car mate!
  16. Nice video Chris, brings some good memories I suppose!

    New Boat

Very nice boat! I can only dream of having something like this!
  18. I feel sorry for you matey! When ever I go to the shopping centre all of these things about parking always go through my head and the f**king car parking slots are so small that we cannot get out of the car decently if we have a coupe (which we all have in here). I always try and park in places which says family or trolly which generally have some extra space between parking slots. But I cannot believe that you got a ticket in TESCO! WTF!
  19. I know SUN (Standford University Network) very well coz I use their solaris workstations for doing our Verilog Integrated Chip logic design at Edinburgh Uni, also used the same workstations to run VxWorks Windriver embedded OS apps. Also I worked on Java platform, I am still a member of their mailing list and get regular updates for new products, technology and services. Very sad to hear that Oracle bought it the other day! Always that SUN would buy oracle some day but it went the other way. There were times when most of the banks were SUN workstations and servers as they were quite stable. But SUN never caught the mass comsumer market due to their high cost. You can easily buy 10 MS workstations instead of one SUN Soalris workstation. SUN's solaris OS only works on SUN's hardware! This is their biggest flaw! Java was good but .NET over took it. Other Server OSes caught up and were running stable. Google is very innovative, that will keep themselves alive unless EU/US regulators try and kill the open approach Google follows. Developing their OS and mobile OS is good (which MS already did). But their strategy to develop their own hardware is the biggest strength and flaw, totally opposite to MS business model and very similar to Apple and SUN's business model. If ever they release a flawed/ vulnerable mobile OS they will be finished for ever! Intrestingly MS startegy is very safe (unless they dont innovate and bring in new technologies and compete with IPhone and have a proper app store) their mobile OS runs on HP, Dell, Samsung, Sony, Nokia, HTC and other 85 handsets/mobile devices.
  20. Mate, you are taking it out of context," MS is too big to collapse just becoz some competing brand released a new products with great features".
  21. Hey if any body interested in MS Surface checked this video http://www.microsoft.com/surface/ Similar to the one used to start this thread. infact there a couple of good video at this location. Another one from hard rock cafe: http://blogs.msdn.com/volkerw/archive/2009/08/13/awesome-microsoft-surface-demo.aspx
  22. No comments, on me being devoted or being a convert of MS! But I do have an open mind and I did not bash any other company in here. I use google and its apps. Have an IPod and IPhone and also a Windows Mobile 6.5 phone from my company. I am on the PHP forum, did years of Java Development. Also did devlopment for VxWorks, eCOS and Windows mobile on the handhelds and embedded side. Used to have two MBR partitions one for MS and the other for either redhat or Ubunto. Did dev on Oracle and MS Sql. Our NAS is linux based, so is our VMWare infrastructure.Use my Xbox, windows live and Facebook (PHP based). Used FF for years and moved onto chrome had loads of fun had to change back to IE8 as some of our ajax apps were not working in Chrome. Used Nokia and Symbian based devices. And loads of other products from different brands. But most of revenue comes form MS products and services! People like it and TRUST the brand! End Off, it will not die out!
  23. Mate the one topped by Google is from 2008 and the one topped by MS is from 2009. Check you links again 2009 List: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/8149460.stm 2008 List: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/7516343.stm
  24. Other than whinning what are you guys doing? Initially started with an argument for the demise of MS, I made a counter argument that it is too big to collapse. then some of you made an argument about slow IE and MS not sticking to standards. Then I made a counter argument of evolving standards and the complexity of MS suddenly changing it software to comply with standards and how it will cause a havoc to already exisitng client base using these products. I also made this argument explaining the various changes I have seen in Office 2007 underneath the skin and how the standards compliance is causing issues with backward compatibility. Even in IE8 we have a compatibility button on the top that renders some of the pages in IE7 format. Bundling all of these extra feature to render pages in different formats doesnt make IE any faster either.
