  1. I hope she gets thrown onto a motorway in the same fashion.

    Best Boost gauge?

I have a 52mm Blitz mechanical one in the clock hole:- It works fine for me May change to something else some day when I buy other gauges to replace the autogauge oil pressure, temp and volt ones.
  4. They'll look awesome I think! I'm useless with Photoshop though
  5. Dying the carpet if it's needing it, rooflining, re-upholstering (dash, doorcards, seats). I need to give my interior a makeover!
  6. Stock fuel cut is at 1 bar I believe, so the FCD is just tricking the ECU into thinking I'm below 1 bar so that it doesn't cut, even if it's at 1.2 I need to get that first decat to open it up to that though as it's still at 0.85. Then, if the restrictor ring is allowing it to boost too high, I'll get a boost controller as well as a smaller restrictor ring.
  7. Nice one I have a couple of little brackets that need fitted back on to the crash bar (or at least, behind the dash) and I can't remember where they went to. Will need to try and find pictures!
  8. New matrix is now fitted. Here it is next to the old, leaking unit: The heater box has been refitted and the wiring in the passenger footwell tidied up a bit. I've mounted the SLD and FCD on the ECU casing rather than having them rolling around on the floor. All other wires are neatly bunched out of the way of the active stuff. The crash bar has also now been fitted back into place. The wiring for the Toad alarm system was horrendous so that has been re-routed through the crash bar end and fed through the roof lining so the sensors are in sensible positions with no wires on display anymore. Still need to neaten the wiring for the oil temperature and pressure gauges before putting the dash back in. Intercooler is also now off. Will polish up the piping while everything is out of the way. If it will work fine and everything will mate up, then I will get the brackets re-welded in the opposite directions on the intercooler so it is reverse mounted compared to before. Will look better. Getting there.
  9. Heater matrix is a big 'un as well! Within 2 weeks of getting my car (which required boot rubbers!), the crank pulley went and then 2-3 months later the heater matrix gave up! After the winter, my central locking doesn't work for OPENING the doors, but does to lock the car. That'll need sorted too (think it's a water leak thing?).
  10. Yes indeed Geo! Just needs a bit of tidying and I'll be at rest with it! Wondering about the adjustable aspect of the FCD, I'm going to just leave it, but I guess it's a boost regulator (essentially)?
  11. Stock body with wheels and lowered or Ridox for me.
  12. Yeah, as mentioned, it'll depend if it is height adjustable coilover units or not
  13. Thankfully, the air con was as good as empty! Everything is now out of the way completely and the heater box removed so I can install the new matrix and fix all of the - shoddy as you like - wiring that was done when the conversion was done when the previous owner had it. Here are some pictures as it currently stands (on the inside):- http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs312.snc4/40960_505740762693_339200132_192458_7403056_n.jpg Fuel Cut Defender and Speed Limit Defender just "thrown in" with the ECU: http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs255.snc4/40101_505740772673_339200132_192459_6584249_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs255.snc4/40101_505740777663_339200132_192460_5879611_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs135.ash2/40101_505740782653_339200132_192461_6898855_n.jpg More messy wiring: http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs275.snc4/40101_505740787643_339200132_192462_6950343_n.jpg Comforting knowing that it'll all be better for going back together again
  14. Yeah, those wires are a joke! Definitely getting sorted out! DEFIs would be cool, I just need to save up to afford them just now anyway! Would need to relocate them as my current oil temp, oil pressure and volt gauges are in the lower half of my double din as it's a single din headunit I have. Can you show me the pics of your iPod dock wiring? That'd be cool, it's something I need to do (find a place for it when I change headunit!). Battery I'll just leave where it is! Not planning on a cage any time soon! Maybe down the line! Dash panels just going to get painted, the actual dash itself is in good condition so I'm happy to keep that too! That's a good idea, but I'd probably not be too bothered about the monitor! I'd rather have gauges in there Haha yeah that's a definite! Speakers might be a good idea, I am a bit of a muso and it's currently poor sounding (headunit isn't doing any favours to be fair!). I haven't done an LED conversion, again may be an idea! All of the dash panels will be off for a while so I have the time to take advantage of it for such things Yeah, the carpet needs to go black! It is currently grey and looks very dated! Got the rest of the dash out and the heater box - looking quite empty now! :- http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs312.snc4/40960_505740762693_339200132_192458_7403056_n.jpg

    Why '60'

Yes, Snooze is right in the sense that if they changed it to issues every 4 months instead of every 6, they could just keep going up by one number each time. But, what I was meaning in the bit that you quoted Matt, is that it's a nightmare for working out what came out when without quite a bit of thought.

    Why '60'

The current system makes more sense than doing it from 01-99 in that order. With the 2 different issue times in a year (March & September), the year+50 for the second half keeps it easy to see which year it was made. If it was done 01 and 02 for 2001, 03 and 04 for 2002 etc. it becomes a nightmare to work out what is for what. It makes sense that the 2 digits represents the year and then the 2 digits + 50 is for the second half. 01-99 would be fine if it was still just March they were coming out with new cars.
  17. There are a few more bolts than the guide suggests! I am in the middle of doing this now! It's straightforward but just time consuming! Take it easy and do it over a couple of days and you won't want to set everything on fire hehe!
  18. I installed a boost gauge (52mm into clock hole) a few months ago following the guide posted up on here. The previous owner had a voltmeter, oil temperature and oil pressure gauges installed in the lower half of the double din section where the stereo is. I haven't looked at the wiring for these at all yet. That may be a plan! In saying that, it's probably a good time to save up for new Defi items just now I'll check the stereo wiring as well! I want to get a new headunit that is iPod ready and such so I don't have to use an iTrip going into my lighter. Guess I should save for that now too! Thanks Homer Never even considered that in the slightest! May be a good idea!
  19. Right folks, I currently have the car off of the road to give it a bit of a revamp as far as the styling goes. SHORT VERSION: My dash is out, apart from the heater matrix, is there anything else worth replacing/checking before it goes back together? NORMAL (LONG) VERSION : I also need to replace my heater matrix and have been putting it off for too long (bypassed it) but, with the car being stripped down externally, it was the perfect time to take everything out on the inside too! At present I'm faced with the car looking like this:- http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs368.snc4/45154_505713088153_339200132_191473_3215522_n.jpg The dash is 99% out, it's just stuck with wiring at the driver's footwell (being NA-TT, it's not just unplugging stuff to free it it would seem ). The crash bar behind the dash is almost removable too, just need to get one more bolt undone (which, conveniently, is behind the mass of wires at said footwell!) and it'll be out and I can then get to the heater box to get the matrix out! I have the seats and carpet out so I can dye the carpet black and, well, I dunno what I'm going to do as far as the seats go! Apart from save for some Brides. Aaaaanyway... I'm wondering if there are other things that I should be replacing while I have it apart like this? Though it isn't behind the dash per se, I have already replaced the crank pulley - about 2000 miles ago - so that is ticked off the possible list of things to do! Thanks!
  20. Great work Homer! It'll be a brilliant day when you get that nice green printed sheet with VOSA at the top
  21. I'll buy the regular one when it comes out. It may make me use my PS3 again! Last time I did was February 2009.
  22. Wooten is brilliant I've watched so many of his videos and DVDs and such in the shop (I work in musical instrument retail ). Awesome
