  1. So you decided not to go given the crappy weather? Thanks for sorting my lights out and taking me and Saz out for a ride in you're car yesterday Jon. That beast really shifts. Let me know when you get it dynoed and up the boost a bit more. Heres hoping you dont sell it and get a rover.
  2. The new wheels were cheaper for him as I gave them to him for free. Cheapskate has an accident and doesnt cost him a dime. He even got a lift home in a supra.
  3. You should be fine. A mate of mine lost it at a round about (doing alot more then 10mph) and smashed 3 of his wheels completely. I told him to get the suspention/alignment checked but he is still driving it a few weeks on having only put new wheels on...
  4. I had my cars rear drift out slighty in the dry pulling out from a junction but managed to catch it and not hit the curb. Quite shocking as i was barely accelerating and only going

    Human Tetris

    nice, anyone seen takeshi's castle?
  6. I'm not an expert but ABS can be tricky to sort. It might just be a wheel sensor or maybe a more expensive computer fault. Unless you buy some bits and start swapping them out to see if it helps its best to get it diagnosed properly at a garage.
  7. If only I could afford something like that.

    Vista or XP

Buy vista bussiness as you can downgrade an OEM vista copy to windows XP if you need. Then if after service pack 1 you want to move to vista you can. Best of both worlds.
  9. Cheap is the pair of socks I bought while in China earlier this year. 13p for two pairs of decent socks... they were the most expensive ones in the shop.
  10. Is it really nessecary to replace the plugs that often? There is a notice stuck in the engine bay on mine which says platinum spark plugs need replacing every 60,000 miles. Or is that just toyota being optimistic?

  12. not the best translation. I'm sure somone else can do better: HOT BOXES HEITZTEN OVER THE A 3!! Valet mode?

I found the key hole; its a stock toyota system as it has a toyota logo on it. turning the key seems to have done nothing. The alarm is still active and comes on any time the ignition has been switched off and then a door opened. Also the alarm has sounded for a second or so a couple of times while driving... think it might be a bit broken.

Thanks. I will have a look when it gets light.

    Valet mode?

Recently i've been doing a bit of work on the car and every time I recconect the battery the alarm goes off. It's not a problem; just a pita I have a small barrel key which I assume is to set the alarm to valet mode but where do I use the key?? I've found the alarm siren right near the battery but cant figure out where to put the key to disable the alarm. Any ideas? I think its the stock alarm system on a UK Spec.

    Wtf?

they are normally stillborn and dont live long. I think the longest recorded is only 12 minutes. There is a mutated gene which means they cannot produce a chemical which allows the skin the flex so it breaks and forms big plates. I found a clip like this a few years back and it freaked me out.
  17. I saw that one today on the way to and from East grinstead.
  18. I would have thought a half hour drive at those speeds would be more then enough to get well up to temp etc. I think you would need lots of less then 2 mile trips to produce what it says in the manual.
  19. I dont know how long it takes to get the oil up to temp. I've not got a gauge for that. I know it takes a mile or two for the water temp to reach normal and I assume it will take ahwile at the higher temps to boil off the nasty contaminates if theyre there. I guess somone whould have to run the car in pretty extreme circumstanses or over tiny distances to produce those effects in the manual.
  20. If it was a sign of engine damage or wear surely they would put. please have your car checked by a toyoto dealer and charge $$$ for the job? Rather then putting its normal behaviour... petrol is a hydrocarbon and would be quite at home in oil if it never got much above 70 degrees. water is heavier then oil and i assume would sit in the sump unless it was churned up or boiled off?? if somone does short journeys or doesnt ever get the oil upto 100+ temps for long i can believe it. Water when under pressure will have a higher boiling point to.
  21. It came with the car when I bought it. Although mines a UK spec so it must have come with the car when new. I guess the J spec ones had a Japanese owners manual? Anyway there is an English translation manual here on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/93-99-TOYOTA-SUPRA-OWNERS-MANUAL-HANDBOOK-ENGLISH_W0QQitemZ200107590171QQihZ010QQcategoryZ1132QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  22. my knees often click and sometimes if i kneel down they can click and make quite a loud crunch.. my dad says his always clicked when he was younger and nothing hurts so i've not ever worried about it. I do weight lifting sometimes and found after a few heavy sessions my joints might ache. A cod liver oil capsule each day helped cure that.
  23. He is not wrong. I quote from the Supra owners manual page 94: Oil consumption: Max 1.0L per 1000KM When judging the amount of oil consumption, note the oil may become diluted and make it difficult to judge the true level accurately. As an example, if a vehicle is used for repeated short trips, and consumes a normal amount of oil, the dipstick may not show any drop in the oil level at all, even after 1000KM or more. This is because the oil is gradually becoming diluted with fuel or moisture making it appear that the oil level has not changed. The diluting ingredients evaporate out when the vehicle is then driven at high speeds, as on an expressway, making it appear that oil is excessively consumed after driving at high speeds.

    Dash bulb type

No-one know? Are they just 501 capless?
  25. Just a quick question for somone. I am planning on pulling my dash apart to fit a new head unit soon and I have a couple of blown bulbs in the dials. One on the speedo and the other is the light which shows when your in drive. Does anyone know what type of bulbs I need to buy? I don't want to have to pull it apart just to find out which bulbs I need and then again to fit them. Im not after anything fancy, just standard replacements. Thanks in advance.
