I'm looking at doing some off-roading/Green laning, however i'm just a little curious about a few things? Is it possible to have a road legal jeep, with off-roading wheels/tyres? Are all off-roading tyres ilegal/legal? why? It's just i'm looking at a jeep with offroad wheel/tyres with an mot etc, however i'm just wondering if the tyres are for off-road use only becuase of the ride/wear you'll get, or if there's a legal reason for it? Hope that kind of makes sence? thanks

I would buy it, but i'm tryingto shift the omega and the missis won't let me get another car for the time being.... Craig.

Fully loaded - has a few minor issue's but nothing major. I've had the engine in bits several times fixing nigly bits on it - like cam cover gaskets etc which would of otherwise cost a fortune to get done in a garage. http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/972125.htm Good runner, cheap insurance and enough room to fit several large people in it without a squeeze. Very comfy. I've taken the car on long runs to Norwich, Bournemouth and gatwick airport etc and not had any issues. Just getting rid of it now as the Ultima is getting driven more now the winter has passed. perfect car to take to Le Mans - and i would, but the Ultima is going instead... Will take less than advertised... Craig.

Well i'm off to Vegas (Again), but this time as the Stag.... I'm quite worried as i went easy on my best mate (again in Vegas) and he's told me i had my chance... I've got bad thoughts of being handcuffed to a smurf on arrival, or being dressed up as Elvis... Any thoughts, other than drink a lot and blend in.......?

I had a garage/summerhouse built if that's any help? Used breeze-block type bricks and then rendered the outside. Got a 8ft garage roller door from ebay £150, and the windows/doors i got from wickes using a 20% voucher code thats readily available on the net. Once it was all buil, i had it all plasterboarded in side, skirting board added, and a couple of coats of paint. Total cost was about £5-6k. Size was 19ft x 22ft. Here's some pics when it was being built: http://tripkings.co.uk/garage/ - haven't got any finished ones.. :-( Before i had it built though i had quotes of 24k, 13k and 9k. Not sure if that helps you much?

looking at trying to book up my honeymoon, and been looking at malaysia. Problem being, we'd like to see the oragutans in Borneo, but think we'd get bored spending two weeks there as there doesn't seem like a great deal to do.. So now looking at doing Bali for a week (rainfirest trecking, white water rafting etc), and the the Gilli Islands for a week for some snorkling/diving.. Anyone been before and have any suggestions?, can you see oragutans in Bali? What else is there to do? Many thanks Craig.

I won the bid for the water pump, so going to try and fit that myself.... I'm feeling quite confident it won't be that hard.. Tried to fit the rocker cover gaskets, but one of the bolt's it obscured by the exhaust - so i've got to remove that as well... Leave that for another day. Plumbed in the accumate battery charger and extended through the bulkhead. Found the battery is a Varley Red Top 40.. -

cool - Quite chuffed now. Found out a bit about the engine, that i didn't know before. Here's a clip of it when i started it up the other week for the first time in 3 weeks - I do start it up every week and make sure it moves etc.. Just waiting for the steering wheel plate to come back from the laser cutter's and then i can drive it. http://tripkings.co.uk/ultima.avi (44mb) -

Cool - Just been looking through some books that came with the car (chevy small block parts interchange manual and how to rebuild your small block chevy) and noticed the chap who built the car has highlighted several things.... Casting number: 3972110 Model year: 1970 Engine/Application: 350/360, 370hp Camero, LT1 Vette, AL, Hirise, Holley. I've also noticed that he's stuck a tick by the "4" bolt main bearing cap design.. so it's a 4 bolt by the looks of it.. :-) -

Cool :-) Thanks.. Just got to hope the chap will deliver it for me, or i can get it picked up by courier. Quite fancy that now.. Now all i need to do is find someone who can tune the holley carb's... It's got a Holley 650 CFM four barrel Part #0-4777C Model 4150 - Looking at all the documentation i've got with it and the number's on it -

I'm still going to take a look under the rocker cover's to see what's under there :-) when i change the gaskets tonight.. Water Pump - I beleive the model code is 8811 Thanks for your help Homer - Much appreciated. -

cool - It's just mine's looking a bit worn and out of place with all the chrome in the engine bay - and quite like the look of that one on ebay... Would i be able to tell what cam's the car's got from looking under the rocker covers? (As in would they have any specific markings on for race one's etc?) I'm doing all the bits on the car whilst the weather's bad.. So far i've fitted some original Ultima seats, new OMP steering wheel, New horn (It was so embarresing having a horn from a moped) and the rocker cover gaskets. I've played with the holley carb a little and found out how to use the choke on it, and tidied up the wiring for the headlights. And i'm sending off the exhausts to be chromed. After working on the Omega, i feel quite mechanically minded to tackle the water pump myself, but i'll probably chicken out and take it somewhere i trust. (This is providing i win it!) Thanks Craig. -

Thanks Thorin :-) It's the part where the blueish sticker on the right hand side - It has a small pulley wheel on it. -
Just a curious question, i'm trying to find out a part of my current ultima engine and what it is. Found this picture on the web, the part i want to know about has got the sticker on it. http://rides.webshots.com/photo/2938338390054440533CnZmFj I think it's the water pump. Reason i'm asking is i've found this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Edelbrock-Water-Pump-Small-Block-Chevy-V8_W0QQitemZ270329129141QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item270329129141&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A4%7C65%3A1%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318 and i'm wondering if it'll fit? I'm also trying to find out about the engine, as i don't know anything about it.. It's a ZZ4 engine, whatever that is? Here's the code's i've found on it.. Engine Number V0624ZZ4 F 20 0 and 3970010 Thanks Craig.

Well i took the car to nottingham, and i managed to get 36.9mpg average over 300 miles - so quite chuffed at that - beats the 10 or so i get from the ultima :-) Oil cooler's not gone yet (Fingers crossed), i've replaced the cam cover gaskets (that was a complete b$stard) of a job) and replaced the spark leads/plugs/pollen filter/air filter and coolant.. The cambelt rollers - i'm kind of guessing that the oil leaking from the bottom pulley on my car is that! - i have planned to do my own cambelt change and pulley seal when it's warmer. I'm a complete novice with car's but really enjoying working on this - the sole reason being if it breaks it's harldy worth anything anyway to worry about.

Not the Ultima, but my £500 bargain buy run-around vauxhall omega 2.5 v6. Picked it up in august with Tax and MOT till end of January. Fully loaded with electric everything. It had an oil leak from the cam cover seals - which i spent the best part of 10 hours fixing! damn nightmare those things. other than that it's been well behaved. Failed on rear brake pipes corroded (£12 + £50 fitting) And a 3" hole in the chasis where something pointy has punctured it? (£80) Other than that everything else was ok... Total bill was £219 - close call weather i kept the car or sold it, but a part of me likes it at heart.. Hopefully should last me as a run-around as it's a little cold and scary in the ultima this time of year.
