  1. Well I did it 1h 50mins and 4 seconds!! GET IN THERE!!! http://clubaristo.net/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=6785&d=1256536185 The first mile was absolutely chocka, hard not to trip over people, then the pack opened up a bit and my sister and I settled into a steady pace, clocking 10 minute miles, constantly passing people. All was going well right up till mile 7/8 when I was really starting to feel the distance. The last two miles were just agony as we hit the seafront and were running head on into strong wind, I was suffering a lot over those two miles, but my sister kept driving me on, even with me wanting to stop and walk for a bit she wouldn't let me and kept me going which I am so grateful for. If I had stopped and starting walking at that point I would never have managed to start running again, my legs were like jelly at that point. I finished 10158 out of over 21000 starters, not bad for a fat bloke Here's my official race stats. http://clubaristo.net/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=6786&stc=1&d=1256536862 To top it all I have so far raised £2732 for the charity that I was running for, The Brain & Spine Foundation. I am so so chuffed it's unreal, I can't believe I've done it, especially given that I weighed in at 20 stone at the beginning of the year! Lost 3 stone so far and still plenty to go, get in there!!!
  2. Anyone else doing this today? I'm currently lying in bed very nervous at the task that lies ahead of me, it's the first time I've done anything like this and though I've done a lot of training the element of doubt always sneaks in there!! At least the clocks have gone back and given me an extra hour of bricking it before the event
  3. We've had them in Pompey, blocking the Eastern Road outbound traffic on busy mornings, like it needs any help there as it is!!! Never been stopped though so don't know what it's all about.

    Running man

Yeah Alexandra sport are very good, they fitted me out for my trainers too, oh and don't forget to invest in some decent socks too. I've been training for the Great South Run for a few months now (big day tomorrow, gulp!!) and I've gone from not being able to run 100 yards without having to stop and walk, to having run 9.5 miles without a break. I've lost 3 stone during this experience and my life has changed completely, I've gone from a lazy slob to a guy who spends an hour in the gym every morning before work, running a minimum of a mile every day, it's been remarkably easy to do too which has suprised me no end. It's starting and keeping it up for the first couple of weeks that was the hard part, after that it just becomes part of your normal routine. I now feel crap if I've not gone to the gym in the morning! Now I'm still a hefty size, down to just over 17 stone now and 6ft 2", not exactly built for running, but the weight is starting to drop off me now at a decent pace and I'm starting to like the look of my body again. For me motivation has been a huge key to my regime. I entered the run and set myself up to run for a charity, I set myself a target and have tried my best to get to it. I've so far raised £2577 for the Brain & Spine Foundation, a charity close to my heart. Though once the event has passed tomorrow I see myself continuing on with it as I really do enjoy it and feel so much better for it. No doubt it's added a few years to my life too. Good luck with your training Trev
