Hot marques says 15k+ but in reality it just means no neds in corsas lol. My SX must've been worth £2k on the face of it at the time but they had no probs with me and a bunch of the SXOC guys joining the sessions. Your bumper should be OK, just don't go off the track

Stay Toyota IMO - the parts always seem to have that little bit 'extra' engineered into them compared with GM or Ford parts or even Nissan parts. Case in point is my Mrs. '55 plate Fiat Croma baby buggy - it just needed a new steering rack at 58,000 miles - I mean, WTF?!? It's a GM product and effectively a Vectra-C / Signum underneath sharing the same diesel engines too. Fiat and Vauxhall wanted £1k inc. VAT for the new rack (electro-hydraulic power steering system) or £700 for a reconditioned one - just for the part. In the end, I found ACS power steering specialists via ebay who supplied a Vectra-C recon rack for £126 all in, on an exchange basis. Local garage were £190 labour to do the job. I still feel shafted! Have never needed to do a steering rack on any of the Toyotas I've owned, only more understandable items like shocks etc. as they age.

I used to do the odd hot marques nights in my modded SX - much better at those kinda sessions than hot hatch if you want to avoid neds in corsas that don't give two shits about their cars and will happily hang you out to dry on a corner. Hot marques is more relaxed with only more unique cars including Ferraris & Porches as well as the performance Jap and other European stuff on track and rules around overtaking to avoid collision as much as possible. You could always be a numpty and stack it at dufus though! Would love to go but not sure the Alfa would be much cop on track being a scrabbler with a measly ~ 210bhp.

Happy Birthday Lee - hope you had a good one!

Nice work D - so close to getting it on the road!

Yeah there's a bunch of things but unless you're leaking a shitload of oil via the sprocket (usually just a weep of oil runs down towards the block when looking at the engine at the front) it's a case of just accept they're noisy ass unrefined engines and live with it - running a timing chain means they were never gonna be smooth and quiet like a 3S-GTE in the 4-Cyl world. With the stock T28 though they do pull hard from low RPM's with BPU type mods which makes for very useable torque whilst drifting. With it swapped out for the bolt onto the stock manifold GT28RS you can make even more power without sacrificing the driveability - a very nice setup, have been out in a few cars like that. The limitation becomes the stock gearbox when tuning and giving the car drift abuse really - it's pretty weak. I'd have a 14a for drifting purely to get as new a 200SX as possible to try to get a rust free chassis / body, BPU it then have fun abusing it 'til the engine or box went pop. Then likely swap out for a 1JZ / R154 combo for more reliability with an increase in power and torque across the rev range for not a lot of cash The S15 is very nice to look at but pretty much the same car as the S14a underneath with an even weaker 6-Sp box, so certainly not worth the premium for a fun / drift car.

Nah S13's are almost all full of rust and the CA18DET engine is weak with chocolote big ends. Best plump for an S14a - excellent value for money if you can find one without any rust (big enemy on the Nissans), a much more natural drift car with more lock than the S13 IMO - I've drifted both so commenting based on 1st hand experience. The SR20DET engine is a stronger engine with easy 300bhp potential - in a pretty light car it makes for excellent performance. Still not a patch on a JZ reliability wise with some niggling faults like vvt sprocket leaks and crude design that can lead to problems with blocked oil spray bars on the heads being common causing issues with the fragile double rocker arm setup. Good fun cars, especially the 14/a for drifting, but engine transplants on them are common for a reason. http://www.sxoc.com/vbb is their owners club forum - very busy place with loads of useful info and great club spirit Cheers, Brian.

Vaguely remember it but think it was 3+ years ago - I actually had a Supra on a ship for a good mate at the time, he was having kittens.... luckily it wasn't the same ship Was an outstanding condition low mileage GZ in Silver with HKS Kansai Aero parts / TRD rear wing, Weds SA70 wheels, Ganador Mirrors, Mines Exhaust & ECU etc. - think he sold it on to another member but not sure who, anybody recognise the description?

When I used to do the odd import I'd always take Marine insurance out on each car - that way if the worst happens you get something back!

Spare battery on a trickle charger and jump leads to connect to the car terminals?

Congrats Mike - some good times there especially with the usual rubbish surface Bad luck dude - that car seems cursed! Steve - looks like you really need the good hook up to get that whopping great turbo spooled, not getting the traction on the line looked like it was really hurting you with the next 100yds being required to get on boost and take off. You'll no doubt be waaay faster at Pod with a set of wrinkles on to get you right into the powerband off the line Nice one on the top speed class win!! Personally I'm really pissed off with the organisers of TOTB this year. The correspondence has been piss poor with no communication by email at all - the result of which was we all ended up wondering what on earth was going on and whether the event was really happening. It also resulted in me having to argue with all the heavies on the way in because I hadn't been sent my usual rep pack so had no pit pass etc. - was treated like a criminal trying to get to our area. The net of which means I won't be organising our entry next year - not gonna humour them when they're only really interested in the Evo club for whatever reason. Don't know what the deal was with Chris Mann stepping away from the event completely but without him involved we're worse off with no real pre-event organisation to speak off liasing with the various clubs etc. TOTB as an event is a shadow of it's former self IMO - number of cars waiting lined up in the pit area was much smaller than previously and other than Evo's there wasn't much of any of the other marques. A direct consequence of the piss poor organising of the event no doubt, that combined with the usual rip off £5 a burger stands just puts people right off running or spectating P.S. My face hurts - got burnt with the overcast conditions so had to do a runner late afternoon Cheers, Brian.

Congrats John - now you just need to have fun properly abusing it!
-
lol yeah I didn't mean cook us a bacon roll whilst on a top speed run
-
Sweet, saves messing about with BBQ's - you just gonna have a pan on the go? I can bring another one and stop by Tescos for some stuff en route - rolls, bacon, sausages, burgers etc.
-
I'll be there early on the Sunday with the Mrs. and some family / friends. Should I bring along the marquee & table as per last year to stick in our bit of the pits? Not sure on the club banner front - will check it out.
-
You've not said what year the car is and there's no rear end pic... important when you mention stuff like rear parking sensors, some implementations are butt ugly IMO.
-
Most of the facelifts tend to have the bigger brakes anyways - the giveaway is the standard 17" wheels. Easy enough to tell from the look of the calipers too.
-
Newer, lower mileage, devoid of rust, faster facelift JDM car for less money every day of the week for me over one of those

http://www.wallaceracing.com/dynamic-cr.php Part of the tuning is 'black magic' brigade are we? You must be extra speshul to understand this stuff.

I'd say ignore EMB as that's definitely a step back from the MAP-ECU2 and ultimately ignore the EMU (see what I did there!) and any other piggyback as well. This application needs a standalone IMO and you need to be sure of what injectors you're using / their fuel delivery capability. Cheers, Brian.
-
I would double check the brake fluid level as already pointed out - the sensor is very very sensitive so make sure your fluid is topped up to the max level, verifying with the cap off as it's hard to determine just looking at the resevoir itself. Cheers, Brian.
-
Why does it have a rattle can'd front end a different colour to the rest of the car?!?
-
Very nice Ian Exactly the kind of Supra I'm looking for next but want it to be a manual this time round after having 3x MKIV autos. Cheers, Brian.
