    Track car?

Indeed. Theres very little performance difference betwee the two.. I have owned both, a 95 and 97 plate M3. With some minor tweaks and a remap the 3 litre S50B30 engined M3 cant be beaten. Less temperemental transmission wise and also only has single vanos. The dual vanos of the 'Evo' is notorious for failing (rattles like marbles in a tin can) and its a £1750~ fix at a dealers. 3 litre M3 is much more hardy IMHO. Performance is great fun, not single turbo supra of course but the handling more than makes up for it.
  2. you ever been to dumbarton rock mate? its the home of Dave Macleod...not sure if your into climbing but the guys a legend Dave macleod ps//sorry for the |O|T
  3. Just make sure you dont have too many bolts and bits left over at the end ;)
  4. The reason the manual covers everything is because removing the head is quite an involved process... That needs to be done 100% correctly if you dont want to **** your motor up
  5. Im not familiar with that turbo?! but the 2JZ GE can easily make that rwhp reliably. especially on a US dynojet
  6. That looks Quality! Very nice job mate!
  7. what alarm is it? sounds like its reset to 'silent beep' mode Have you got a manual for it? try turning the manual beep on!
  8. No probs. If it does come to that (having to collect the car unfinished), you should post up in the members section or here about 'recommended' and 'trusted' companies who could take the work on. Michael Lane is a good bet but Im not sure how far he is from you.... just remember though, you get what you pay for....particularly when it comes to engine building and repairs (usually anyway!) and there is a reason that quality outfits are usually more expensive than dubious or 'unknown' companies.(because they know how long a job will take do correctly...) hope it works out for you mate
  9. Is there anyone club members near you who are technically strong with the 2jz? If you can get someone to go along with you and call in and pay him a visit. Sounds like he may have got in over his head TBO... 6 weeks is totally unnaceptable for a job that could be done in a day by someone experienced and competent with the 2jz engine If no one off here can go with you if it were me I would go down and pay them a visit. Most likely I would take the car back (on a trailer if need be) and try and get some money off them for inconvenience and getting it redone (unlikely I know) good luck with it
  10. Glad you got it sorted. Your right regarding the vapours...but if the right air/vapour mixture was reached in your gas tank (if it was running low) I would imagine nasty potential linky
  11. double or triple that for tt to single (done properly with quality parts I should add)
  12. Im slightly ahead of myself here as Ive decided to drop the 2jz motor Im building when its finished into a MK4 chassis that I dont have yet!. (tt with a blown engine or an NA conversion) Im looking for proven good standalone tuners who can do a great tune.. (possibly a race fuel map and 100 *raptane) Turbo will be GT 42R or bigger My current choices are AEM Motec Autronic Who do you recommend guys? and for which ECU thanks
  13. Also, good luck for the op. The most recent I had was for a knee injury (tore the meniscus in my knee doing thai boxing) I opted for the local and got an epidural where they stuck a needle in my spine and it paralysed me from the waist down. Then the surgeon did an ace job and stitched the meniscus so he didnt have to remove any luckily. it was a very scary feeling (paralysis) and I regretted it and wished I had had the general. It did however give me a birds eye view of just how tough it is for people who have been paralysed
  14. Im pretty sure thats an anaesthetic tube that the anaesthetist uses to keep you asleep You wont 'feel' anything mate. ive had a few generals over the years. As others have said, you do wake up with a dry throat and a bit groggy but its pretty cool. The worst bit I have always found is waiting on the trolley in the anaesthetists little chamber prior to being wheeled through the doors into theatre. Theres no way you will make the count of ten I think I got to about 4 and I was really straining to try and stay awake for the jest of it!!
  15. Do you think this could cause premature belt wear Chris? Im undecided on whether to do this mod on my engine rebuild, the aircon is going for sure as I dont need it, but Im in two minds at the minute Has anyone run a car for a good amount of miles with the damper removed?
  16. It seems to have been deleted Pete as I posted in it and its not there any more.. In reply to the thread though.... This crime is truly despicable. ANY males, be they chavs, homeless kids, middle class or whatever... who can beat to death a woman, regardless of what 'provocation' she may or may not have offered, should get the harshest punishment available. Which sadly due to the ***** up British 'justice' system is not long enough. Im all for going like America on sentencing.....100s of years rather than 10s And they actually have to serve the time they are given in the US (except for early release on parole ) so when they are handed down a massive sentence, it means they will die in jail. In response to the poster who asked why should they be locked up for more than 15 years... 1/ a deterrent to other possible lowlifes who might consider a 'real life' sentence as to be well worth avoiding. Hence they decide not to take a knife around with them and 2/ because they killed someone in cold blood, a female at that. Dont do the crime if you cant do the time is what I say on the matter oh, and bring back capital punishment. Lethal injection or the 'chair' would bring at least some possible offenders up short BEFORE they did the crime IMHO
  17. Do you still have the wiring loom(s)? if so please pm me your best price thanks
  18. Erm. No, you cant really remove the belt tensioner ... Will the fanbelt interfere with this due to its new routing? what did bhave do for this?
  19. Put it in valet mode as you mention above. If you want the default code for your alarm. pm me the model number. eg concept 600 or whatever You should be ok to leave the car though. If you cant start it with the keyfob and key, then your average car thief will struggle to go anywhere!
  20. Bargain! I didnt realise they were so cheap
  21. If I recall corrrectly a new 2JZ GTE bottom end is about £2200 Im sure one of the traders on here posted a price recently but I cant find it unfortunately. not exactly a cheap fix when you add in labour to rebuild the motor around it (more if you go as far as getting it blueprinted) but your guaranteed a good motor
  22. Bad news mate Personally, I would say that the end of the crank needs to be closely inspected to see if it is still in tolerance. I wouldnt be surprised if it has distorted it with all the banging and vibration of the loose pulley and the keyway getting mis shapen. Also, without knowing the cause of the loose pulley, if it was me I would be looking to rebuilding the engine, or buying another.
