  1. ok guys What are your thoughts on CP (Chicago Pneumatic) impact guns please? Ive always been happy with CP air tools in the past but this is the first impact gun Ive owned of theirs (CP 7733 1/2") I've a friend who is a lorry mechanic and he reckons they are 'not very powerful' (manual states max torque @ 550ft lb ft and working range 25-400 lb ft) .... Im not sure if this is in lorry terms or in general I was already aware that ingersoll rand are 'the best' but I got offered this CP for a good price so I bought it. The max torque I need from it is to remove the crank damper bolt with the engine out of the car...(using sufficient air pressure of course) What are you using and what are your thoughts please?
  2. Oh, also....if you want to be undercover (and resort to their level) get an old spark plug... You dont need to rush as its very quiet.. and it DOES work as I tried it on an old car some years ago before I sent it off to the scrap yard
  3. Damn! I was too slow Although I would give the firework suggestion a miss.....could turn nasty and end up getting done for arson or worst
  4. Wow. I would be P*SSED about that Scum like this should be 'nipped in the bud' before they progress down the line and end up killing someone..... I agree with hiten. Retribution is the logical progression for a case as serious as this DVLA contact or a Police friend (who has access to vehicle checks) is the only way to get an address for the perpetrators.... OR// (note// this is only a dream like suggestion and not to be taken seriously ) Borrow or buy a standard boring looking car so you dont stand out and if you can find where their car is stake it out for the day/night and follow them at a safe distance (so they dont see you) back to their house. Then note the addy and carry on past and about your normal business. Then wait......for a day or two at minimum. and go and thank them for their lowlifeness. An alternate and lawful suggestion is to install a CCTV camera over the car in question if thats possible...and see if you can get them on camera
  5. Awesome photoshoot mate As others have said, next time you want to get someone else to move the car about and get a few pictures from the copter. Good choice in girlfriend as well
  6. Yup. The stat sounds ok. Sounds more like a problem with the actual temp gauge or the wiring to it. You could wire in an independant temp gauge and see if its reading correctly If it does then get those wiring diagrams out and get the dash binnacle removed
  7. Nice result mate I bet thats a fun drive....
  8. lol Sorry to hear this Adam. Hitting the rev limiter is not ideal....but at the end of the day Toyota set it at that level to prevent engine damage by over revving so although that may well have accelerated a pre existing problem.....it could have been waiting to happen. On the plus side NA engines are dirt cheap so you shouldnt get hit too hard financially
  9. Scumbags Just jam your brakes on.....that always gets people off your tailgate!
  10. Great post Tony Very informative indeed.....
  11. Tricky one this! I have run several autogauges on a few turbo cars in the past, as I refuse to use electronic boost gauges and couldnt find many mechanical ones I liked. Both previous gauges were accurate on boost. However Im not 100% about vacuum accuracy, as if you take a look at the gauge when the engine is off but ignition on (eg/ the gauge has power) then does the needle sit bang on Zero? I would say the gauge is right and your car is wrong but Im sure some will disagree. The easiest way to know for sure is to fit a better mechanical gauge (let me know if you find a nice looking black face one!) and see what it reads.
  12. I wouldnt say no. She can afford a nose job now anyway
  13. That looks sweet Jamie Bet you get a few stares cruising round in that beasty
  14. lol Watch more sky you mean I never managed to get into Lost but thats probably a good thing going on how many series there have been Heroes is an awesome series as well What do you think beats Prison Break out of interest
  15. Prison Break = Defo the greatest Series Ever
  16. For me it has worked, it totally depends on what people class as a 'daily beater'...but for me, in the past when Ive been short of cash and running two cars, I have bought a cheap car for about a grand. For example a mk3 escort or mk2 mondeo. Reliable as anything, cheap as chips on parts and I do all my own servicing etc Petrol costs are far less than that of a Supra, and I never care where I leave a daily beater (eg/ pub car park overnight) or get paranoid about what will happen to it. Some folks are too ashamed about 'being seen' in a cr*p car like that but it doesnt bother me as I know what Ive got back in the garage With that said though, petrol AND diesel are now so extortionate that even a 1.4 Escort is a £40 fill up..but it does last a lot longer. Insurance, traders policy. Or a cheap quote from a regular insurer. I think the public needs to get off their collective backside and start to really react to fuel price increases.....even if it doesnt go down in price, it might prevent further rises if the government senses national unrest. Im in anyway
  17. Nice pictures Eric What company are you please? I had never considered the US route apart from a Titan pre built stroker motor. How long roughly do items of that size take to arrive Uk>US and the other way around?
  18. Cheers Chris Ouch...170 miles but having said that, Im sure you know much more than most the labour that goes into a full rebuild and blueprint so distance to the place is not my biggest concern. Sensible cost is a factor though Im not expecting it to be cheap.. Im going to see what they say tomorrow. I guessing you dont take your motors to Swindon race engines though? Me thinks Im going to do some digging and ring around a bit. See which outfit inspires me with confidence and take it from there..
  19. As above guys. I'm nearly at the stage with my project motor where I need a few engine builders services. Such as... Hot Tank the block Rebore for 86.5mm CP pistons Hone etc I did have a guy local to me who has done some first rate jobs for me in the past but he has retired unfortunately and I dont trust the new guy at his old shop So, does anyone have anywhere to recommend that knows and has worked on 2JZ engines sucessfully before?! Distance ideally within 100miles from Sheffield. I was thinking of a shop called Ice Automotive located in Northants but I have only read a few posts about them on here, I have no actual references on them!! I have also heard good things about Swindon Race Engines but Im not sure if they will do 'small' jobs like this. Thanks in advance
  20. Couldnt agree more. Bodywork and spraying is an art form and good artists dont come cheap
