  3. Soon there will be Spanglish. Millions will miss-spell. Millions will perish in grammatical misery. Why does one error matter against so many? Because there is good spelling and there is evil spelling, and evil spelling must be punished. Even in the face of Armageddon I shall not compromise in this. But there are so many deserving of contextual correction ... and there is so little time.
  4. There have been a lot of sad film star deaths recently, according to my mother in law tonight. As well as Jane Goody, there was Keith Ledger, Jonathan Ross and Vanessa Redgrave. Tragic all. The Redgrave family curse apparently started when a great-grandmother Redgrave (who was from Ireland and spoke Garlic) cradled her baby after a long shift in a frozen fish filleting establishment in the 1900s. The baby died of consumption and the family has had problems ever since. Where does she get all this from. I'll give it another Christmas then start researching care homes.
  5. Yup, a very tangible plus from the situation. Something positive from the negativities of A-Z celebrity status.
  6. Most are googleable already. The Easter egg one shows some sense of ironic wit, the others just crass.
  7. I've had several Goody jokes sent to me by text already. I wont repeat them on here.
  8. Its quite nice as it is. Although I prefer coriander on my discs.
  9. Tragic news. What a shock and a terrible shame. He had quite a presence on here. Condolences to his family for their loss. Ewen and Jane.
  10. 'wear no knickers for peace' obviously.
  11. Sorry to read this Shane. As others have said, ask the finance company if they would accept a lower settlement figure. Be careful if you are thinking of selling them yourself before repossession....depending on how long the finance has been going, and the balance outstanding, the finance company will still own the 'goods', and chase for any shortfall...even from the new owners. Ask them about this and see what they say. They may give you an agreed period of time to sell them yourself. After all, you may get more private sale than they will at auction. Easy to say, but try to keep with it...its bad enough, but its not the end of the world. Hope your luck changes for the better soon, all the best lad.
  12. :)Ok, I'll try not to....oops, too late....
  13. Plato once expounded.... 'Old age: A great sense of calm and freedom. When the passions have relaxed their hold, you may have escaped, not from one masterbator but from many' Make the most of it while you can Ed. Happy Birthday.

    Galaxy Ripple

And to cap it all, Andrex toilet rolls have three less sheets per roll these days. They probably never thought someone would count them.
  17. Crumbs....Stihl, I'm sure it was fun while it lasted.
  18. Sick of these so called experts destroying the very fabric of all we have left. Hope and confidence. Once they go we may as well give up totally. These guys may mean well, expressing real fears and concerns in the vain hope we all sit up, take notice and act (although quite how I've no idea), but in the end they actually exacerbate the situation by publicly advising us that there is no hope at all.

    marine engines

:)Not a lot to work with here... Basically, if the Volvo engine is the same type (inboard / shaft drive or sterndrive) uses the same fuel, has the same or very similar power / rpm limit, and is a similar physical size and weight as the one thats in or was in the boat, then you stand a fighting chance of it being suitable. However, even if you tick all the above, there's still the gearbox and or sterndrive transom plate (depending on drive system) to worry about.... Assuming the Volvo has a gearbox attached, you need to check the reduction ratio (is it similar ratio to what is in the boat now) and output flange dimensions (is it going to fit the shaft coupling). Check direction of output rotation matches the prop rotation (some gearboxes give same power / rpm in reverse, but a lot don't) Engine beds.... will the Volvo engine mounts fit the boats engine beds (height above shaftline and width between mounts). Systems.... check 12v or 24v. Will the engine exhaust line up with existing hull outlet. Will the engine raw water cooling inlet line up with existing pipe-work. General fit... Will the engine sump clear the hull when the output flange is lined up on the shaftline. Will the top of the engine fit under the deck when lined up with the shaft. Will there be enough clearance between front of engine and bulkhead. Will the installation allow sufficient clearance / access to top oil and water up. Best I can do with the info you have provided...even if some of the points I've raised don't match, there are ways round them, but it can become very expensive very quickly. More than willing to advise further, but you need to give more info ! (Definition of a boat... a hole in the water, lined with GRP, into which is thrown large amounts of money)
  20. I'm devoted and artistic, Warm and mischievous, Romantic and simplistic, Tall and gregarious. I'm financially frivolous, Older now, greying fast, Some would say too generous, Perhaps my prime has passed, I like marmite and Caerphilly, I used to like landladies bare, Now happily married, slightly silly, I once found a fish in my underwear.
