  1. Made a start painting my dash (gonna do one bit at a time!), Meguired the car, fit the A-pillar pod only to realise there's not enough vacuum hose with the Blitz boost gauge, and removed that stupid stainless steel perforated bucket that Blitz call an induction kit, replacing with the good ol' standard box. Quite a productive day really - suprisingly 'cos I pickled my liver over the weekend

    death whine

If the car has an aftermarket induction kit such as a Blitz SUS, then it can almost amplify the noises the turbos make - mine's coming off as soon as I get time! I also get a toot/whine at certain revs, but it sounds more like a blowing gasket to me.

    what tyres?!!

I've just had 2 new Bridgestone Potenza R050s fitted on the back, 265/35 R18s. Excellent tyres both in the wet and the dry - they had the best review on mytyres.co.uk too. Not cheap though, at about £150 a corner.
  4. Congratulations mate - when I sold off all the bits on my 140 celica, and the car itself, it was nearly a straight swap for the Supra. Best choice I ever made
  5. Don't sky also offer like-for-like on modifications? I'm sure Elephant don't (I'm with them at the moment) - when it comes up for my renewal, I'll be shopping round and paying a bit extra for the additional peace of mind. I've previously used Greenlight and they were very reasponably priced too.
  6. Even better! Was going to go for the brand new set, but they tipped past the budget at a meaty £600+ Mind you, whoever got them has a bargain!
  7. Think I did. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7993791332&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1#ebayphotohosting More than likely to be better condition than my Jspec ceramics with 79000 on them! Ooh, I'm a happy man!
  8. Sorry to hear mate Might be worth seeing if there is a local chipsaway franchise near you - the guy up in Derbyshire is pretty damn good at getting rid of that type of thing.
  9. To anyone who is running nitrous (in particular WON systems); what jetting are you using, are you using on stock internals, and more importantly what jetting position (single or direct port?) are you using? Sorry for all the questions, but I've got my old WON kit sat in the garage and I'd like to put it to use soon
  10. Great write up Is the bearing avialable as a seperate part from Mr T? Any idea of part #?
  11. lol is that such a bad thing?
  12. £50? I could proably sell it to a disillusioned Saxo owner for £100 Plenty of 'em round here!

    What is your job?

I'm a freelance construction engineer - got sick of being fleeced by companies whilst working permanent, so now work for myself - and have twice the income as before!
  14. No buy mine - it's, um, suckier? In a good way I mean. Actually don't bother, it sounds like it's sucking through a hose-pipe some of the time
  15. Yeah, it's where the harness plugs in, the green wire it takes off - well the wire to the original plug has been 'relocated' Going to have to do some detective work behind the dash methinks.
  16. Hiya mate, welcome to the club The peeps on here are very helpful, as you have already seen. I've got a Blitz filter on mine too - got the reciept from the previous owner for about £230!!! If you've got your heart set on one, you can have mine for a reasonable price - I'm going back to the stock airbox!

    Hybrids

Have you tried contacting turbo technics or AET? From what I've gleaned, stage 2 hybrids will have larger turbine and compressor wheels which should be good for another 100bhp or so (according to AET).
  18. Right, been looking thru the wiring schematics thingymabobs courtesy of mkiv.com and have now realised that the 2nd ignition wire that I need to come off has been cut off and routed elsewhere, possibly for the alarm / immobiliser. If I branch off of this, does anyone know whether it might affect the alarm at all? Wouldn't imagine it would, myself, just looking for someone else's reassurance.
  19. I bought a harness for it from ebay over in the US rather than tapping into the existing wires, but think things may be a bit awry with it, considering the timer isn't working (only turns on briefly then straight off if I scratch the earth wire agianst the earth point - once secured it stays off) Having investigated the harness, there are a couple of wire sthat have been cut, presumably when they installed the alarm (before I had it). What I have at the moment is two wires going to a permanent 12v live, neither of which lose voltage when starting the engine, and both go up to 14v (or thereabouts) when the engine is running. I have found what I believe is the ignition wire, giving 0.45v when off and c. 13v when ignition is on, no voltage drop when engine is turned over. I have another two wires which show no voltage but which seem to go straight to earth. Can anyone tell me which wires need to go where, as it's somewhat puzzling. Haven't tarced the wires that have been cut yet, so may have something to do with them too I guess.
  20. Funny, didn't realise real cars were smelly and made of fibreglass.
  21. There's also http://www.celica-club.co.uk covering most things celica, from gens 1 to 7
  22. Chilli, thanks for that mate Hopefully. I'll get enough time to fit my sexy new Blitz Mirror Drive gauge this weekend!
  23. lol, yeah I picked up my aerial mast from them yesterday and ended up chatting to them about the car - they remember me from when I had the Celica Also Ash, the service manager, used to have an N/A mk4 but wasn't very impressed with it - wanted to know howe the TT was in comparison They're a very friendly and helpful lot there - I'd recommend them to anyone. Got her booked in for a full oil change (engine, box and diff) next weekend, for £170
  24. The previous owner of my Jspec TT installed a Blitz SUS on there. Does anyone know if this makes any performance difference over the stock airbox? Only I'm thinking of getting rid, as the sucking sound it makes gets a bit annoying after a while. On my Celica I had an AEM cold air intake which sounded very nice indeed, deep and throaty; the Blitz just seems to make a loud sucking sound and thats about it
  25. It's certainly a bit nicer than Tamworth, where I used to live So would I be right in saying that I could use a 1st pipe decat with a restrictor ring in, and the ecu would happily run 1bar boost without chewing through my ceramics?
