  1. Cheers, thats my mind at rest now anyway Think a 1st decat pipe is high on the to-do list now (don't want to have to replace for every MOT!)
  2. Having fitted my spangly new Blitz gauge today (mechanical Mirror Drive shiny type thing ), the initial readings seem fine (from searching other posts) - -0.7 to -0.8 at idle, rising to 0.5 at medium acceleration. However, after giving it some, both in Manu mode and normal drive, down a stretch of 'private testing road', the maximum the gauge read was a lowly 0.7bar of boost. Does that seem a bit low? I thought standard boost was 0.9 bar on the soop? I've checked all the pipes I can see, and there doesn't seem to be any loose ones at all. Mods-wise, the car's stock. Standard air box (anyone wanna buy a Blitz SUS?). Not sure whether the exhaust is a proper Blitz one or one with a blitz pipe welded on the end.
  3. Hoping to get the downpipe from 'crankkiller', the original seller. My jspec turbos have about 80k miles on them now - there's no way I would trust them if I cranked up the boost (which is the plan, until I can afford single). Didn't know about changing the manifold too, though. Is it just a switch to a UK manifold?
  4. Just a thought, can anyone recommend some checks / bits to clean / etc. before the turbos go in? Should just be a straight swap with the correct adapter, right?
  5. Cheers Jake. By grazing, I mean the very ends of the 'fins' (can you tell I'm new to FI? lol ) look like they've been rubbed-down slightly by some kind of friction. Stands to reason, I suppose, if it's the intake side.

    Air Bag Suspension

Best bet is to look in the Max Power-a-like mags, a couple of companies that spring to mind are 'Mr. Chili's drop shop' and 'Rayvern hydraulics'. Or get yourself over to Trax - last time I was there there were more bloody hydraulics and airbags displays going on than anything else car-related.
  7. avatar now changed to avoid confusion Any opinion regarding the turbos? Anyone?
  8. Recieved these in the post today (ebay ). Hoping the adapter will be turning up seperately from the seller on ebay though . . . There's no 'in-and-out' play at all, but there is a slight bit of play 'side-to-side', probably only about 0.5mm - is that OK (never had a turbo engine before! )??? Also, there seems some very slight 'grazing' to the intake (I presume) side - see piccies below. Any comments gratefully recieved! Cheers, Bob

    My first fault.

Ah, I was talking about the lights on the gauges. Sorry, work tends to muddle my already muddled brain
  10. Bob

    My first fault.

I think it may be down to a loose connection - my letters weren't working until I took the dash out, fiddled about looking at bulbs, and then put it back. Hey presto, all working now!
  11. Cheers Paul, couldn't see the Stillen on your site. Can you give me an idea of prices delivered? (PM if ya like)
  12. Preferably one of the Stillen ones, or a decent quality copy. Can anyone point me in the right direction of where to get one? Ta
  13. Nic, could I just have a new ashtray and gear lever panel for a pre-facelift jspec auto tt? Cheers
  14. Nic, sorry if this has already been covered, but do the pre-facelift panels come with the rubbery coating on, or are they bare plastic? Cheers

    Advice Please

Sorry to barge in, but what're insurance costs like over in Ireland? Heard they were pretty damn steep.

    Dead supra

For a 70mph side-on smash, that's not held together too badly, imo.
  17. Whereas I'm just a contented underachiever
  18. Shepsheds just up the road from us too - used to go to uni in Loughborough. Never realy noticed the chav contingent there, but maybe they were hiding in the centre. Luckily the main road just grazes the place
  19. mmmm, chavalicious. innit.
  20. I think I know what you mean, but thought it was made by HKS originally for Skyline exhausts?
  21. ARgh. This weeks episode - when I was younger I quickly learned that if you hit someone, you get hit back a lot harder. Bloody la de dah leftie nanny state bastards interfering with parenting. And yes, I would give her a good backscuttle.
  22. Am I the only person who'd do all of them? DOn't find 'em particularly pleasing to the eye, but it'd be an experience. Hell, I've had worse on drunken binges in King's Lynn . . .
  23. Bloody hell, do you have any idea how difficult it is to buy vacuum hose in Leicester?! Been to 2 motorfactors (hah!), Halfords and 2 spares places. Only one didn't give me a blank look, and after 10 mnutes of searching triumphantly declared they had a 1m length of 3/16" diameter left. F**kwits the lot of 'em.
  24. As I'm installing my shiny new gauge in the A-pillar, the length of vacuum hose that came with it won't be long enough to get to where I want it to be (i.e. somewhere near the engine). What I was wondering was whether the extra length of the vacuum hose (I'm off to Partco tomorrow lunch time ) would affect readings or anything. Can anyone put my mind at rest?
