Pete
[edit] 24" not 25" Nothing to do with me or Midland Computers, but I was after a new screen and the Dells were consistently coming up with good reviews. Turns out that their latest model of this screen has some ghosting issue and the discontinued screen is best to go for. They were about £800 I think from Dell originally. These guys have them at £329 inc VAT and delivery! Mine is on its way. http://www.mcscom.co.uk/product.php?xProd=2484&xSec=4 I read about all this from AV Forums - http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=594675&page=

Thorin
That is cheap, refurbished though? Not that it matters as still says 3 years warranty. I think these are still about £600 from Dell! Tempted...
Ric
it says refurbished unless stated, and the product line says new but who knows

Tempted... Not sure mate. They're saying they're NEW in the title. If you read the thread at AV forums the one guys says his has been run for 20 hours though. Not really an issue with 3 years warranty.
Big Ads
Just to clarify Pete, your not saying this monitor has ghosting issues?
Pete
Just to clarify Pete, your not saying this monitor has ghosting issues? That's correct. These are the phased out ones at revision 4 firmware with all issues sorted. The latest model has some issues if left on for a long time apparently and Dell have issued a statement saying there's not much they can do about it. It's also a fair chunk of money more. It's all in that AV Forums thread. Please do read that before buying as I'd hate to think I'd missed anything myself and cause someone to be disappointed. GazzaGSi
Stop it! Im trying to convince myself to keep my laptop and not buy the monitor and a new PC but it looks awesome and at that price it is pretty much a steal!
Pete
Well I've got it up and running and quite simply it's stunning! I've not been able to put it through it paces properly yet, but just from booting up it is obvious this will significantly improve the way I use my PC and applications. One problem though. There's a dead pixel right in the sodding centre. Luckily for me I have three others at work to choose from. Now to play a game.

There's a piece of Windows software which helps to hide dead pixels by altering colour of neighbouring subpixels or something. I can't find it right now though! edit: here it is : http://www.prad.de/board/thread.php?threadid=11797 Also seems to be lots of software which attempts to fix stuck pixels by flashing colours rapidy. Pete
That didn't work. Three other screens we've opened do not have bad pixels. I'm so impressed I'm issuing them out to the web dev team to have one each.
