rite here, shes got a nasty hit to the front

To be fair, that isn't a great deal of damage to the front, bonnets usually fold up a LOT further..

The main parts to get checked will be the two front chassis legs, and you may get lucky with that, since it doesn't look to be too deformed, in fact the headlight on the passenger looks relatively unscathed.

yep, but the driver side chassis leg has got a bit of a bend, and the passenger side has been bent to the right looking directy from the front, big job there

But hey mate, at least you have a whole Supra sat there, just to say that is nice in itself, ok it needs a bit of work, but you have the time and come those sunny warm days Im sure will spur you on even quicker.........just make sure you keep her running every now and then, as I know of someones Supra that was stored albeit with no bonnet but now the lump has seased........

I suggest your next buy is a car cover, or sheet. Rip off all of the parts that are damaged, note what they are and how many etc, then get them scrapped. Will give you an idea of what parts you need and you can search for roughly how much they will cost you.

Secondhand parts will obviously be your best bet, and if you have the space, and you'll be doing the work yourself, get the engine out and strip the entire front end down.

Good on ya mate! wish i had that kind of "can do" attitude at that age. hope it all goes well. There's a lot of supras being broken on the forum lately (most people on here have a heavy right foot - but its partly the car egging them on too ;) ) so you should be ok for parts....

Guys, i think we may have another Supra specialist opening up in the next few years (he already knows more than i do about em - but then so does my gran :D )

Anyway, make sure you keep us posted with pics and stuff....

Welcome to the club as well, and good luck.

Suprasrcool, I only just found this thread. I read all of it and felt ashamed of the comments made by some. Good luck to you, I am sure you will get what you want, just be determined, as you so obviously are.

I think you have earned the right to respect on this forum, as you are getting you hands dirty and doing it yourself. This always counts for much more in my book, far more than those that throw a wallet at a tuner and then accept all the praise for someone else's expertise and efforts .

I have never under stood the adulation some members get when they just pay for things to be done to their cars as it take no skill what so ever. :flame:

If you ever need any advice I would be happy to give it.

i know what you mean, but there just some things i dont want to try and do myself, like re-aligning the chassis legs and fitting a new engine, those are 2 things i really want done by a pro.

mate, i've been assured that pulling the engine is not that bad a deal....why not try and remove it on your own and see how it goes...........

I would agree with the legs, as getting that wrong could prove fatal but fitting an engine looks tough, but is not that difficult, if you have the right equipment. Check out the 200sx in my garage, that had the original engine taken out and a Skyline engine put in all done under a gazebo on the drive. We lifted the shell over the engine to fit it, then just pulled it into place.

There are quite a few threads on here and Supra forums that detail pulling and replacing an engine. Read up and see if that changes your mind. Just think of the money you would save to spend on the car.

Good post phil, and I totally agree with you. But Im one of those people that gets my wallet out and throws it a tuner. But I dont really have any other choice as I wont my car looking the best it can and unfortunatly car tunning or cosmetics aint my game, but I put as much effort into my car as anyone else and I never take praise myself for work itself. I will take praise for putting together a nice car as I sourced who is good and what parts are good but thats it..........

Just found and read all the posts, fair play to the lad. If he doesn't want to spend all of his money on booze, fags and whatever, and wants to spend it on a project car, big respect to him.

I look forward to reading the progress reports and hope he gets all the help and advice he needs off this forum.

Good luck and welcome!!!

Yep I am another wallet throwing member.

To be fair I don't own my Supra just yet (14 days and counting) but whilst I agree with claiming credit where it is not due, do think of this another way:

I've passionately wanted a Supra since 1996, taking the plunge now as a direct result of finding this forum and it's club ethic. Various issues meant I could not do this earlier but when I made the choice >1 year ago I have worked my butt off & saved money to buy a good quality Supra, hopefully requiring little work. As it will be my only car (for the moment) it has to be fully functional & reliable from day one.

I have neither the facilities, expertice or tools/equipment to do this type of work myself at the moment but I hope this forum will help me address this in the future, I am keen to learn.

I also am astonished at Suprasrcool's attitude & abilities at his age and am seriously jealous.

Look forward to seeing the project take place (hopefully I can learn something too) and hope to see it in the flesh all repaired soon.
