You could try hot soapy water to clean the length of the belt that you can extract, this is after all the length that'll have picked up decades of grubby greasy fingers and dust. Once dried its usual to apply a talcum powder dusting. Failing that there are oddles of companies who offer repair and refresh services who are unlikely to exceed the new from Toyota cost. This would be preferable if you want to retain the white tag as that tag is year dated so should match the car. the seat belts are one of the 'hidden' means to check a Supra is what it is claimed to be. I've tried the old youtube tricks , it was better but still would not go back up until i left it over night , chap that's selling the one off ebay will not message me back , if you know some place that is close to use or anywhere really i'll get it fixed the correct way , i did have a short look and only found places in the USA ?, It's the M.O.T tester who is not happy , it's been the same for some years , time i fixed it anyway . Worth getting on the oz scene and finding out what they are called. I’m afraid there is little we can do with car seatbelt retractors as most of them are connected to airbags or the electrics of the vehicle. We cannot repair these or replace them as the ones we stock do not connect to the airbags/electrics. If we replaced yours with one of ours you would get an alert on the dash and it would fail the MOT anyway. We cannot repair them either but there are a few tricks you could try to see if it helps. There are a few reasons a retractor may retract slowly. Sometimes because the webbing has gone back in folded, sometimes the barrel collects dirt and just needs a clean and sometimes they just seize up a little as they get older. Sometimes the webbing on a seatbelt retracts too quickly and it can fold over near the barrel of the retractor, this can mean when the webbing retracts after this it will be very slow as the barrel is now “lumpy”. I would suggest you pull all of the webbing out and check that none of the webbing is caught or folded and just see if the barrel needs a bit of a clean. Sometimes they can pull dirt and hair into them which slows them down. If these are both fine, I would try a little wd40 between the sides of the barrel and the retractor. I would try these first and see if it helps but I’m afraid that’s all we can do for you unless the retractor is not connected. Please fell free to contact me if you have any more questions.
