Word of warning if your planning on painting this yourself, and not getting it done professionally. Avoid trying the silicone based blackening products first. Silicone is a nightmare to clean off properly, and if you don't get it all off you get silicone pin holes in the paint. This is what decent paint shop won't allow silicone products I their shop, even waxes and polishes.

Personally I would just get it painted straight off. The one I posted earlier is still going strong. And if done properly will last just as long as any bodywork.

As above don’t use any products on it if you are considering painting it, I took mine to a paint shop and he said the hardest part was removing all the crap I had used to try and restore it to no avail :( it did come up well now painted though (satin black)

I also tried the heat gun trick……didn’t work!
