I had a chat with JamieP before ordering.

On his (old) black Supra, he had a massive improvement in traction and handling when he went from 19 to 18.

I know that 19 is for the looks (that's the reason why I went for 19 a couple of years ago). But with the power figures most of us run on single setups, 18" is the best. Less is sometimes more ;)

Could you not have gone with a sidewall of 35 instead of 30 on the rear tyres?

I had that in mind mate, but the 315 are not available in series 35.

However, you have more sidewall on a series 30 (on 315 vs 265) as the tires are a lot wider than normal.

I always used the Michelin Pilot Sports Cup tires, as I needed grip with the different power evolutions my Supra went through.

With the latest power figures, I needed wider rims. I went for the CCW classics. Unfortunately, Michelin don't go wider than 295 in 18" ; therefore, I went for Toyo R888 now.

I must says they perform very well ; when properly warmed up, they hook up even in 2nd (even though I have 950+ nm).

Does this set up have more driving comfort and less road noise than the 19'' days?

That looks superb...! I bet it looks even better when on the move with it being so shiny.!

The classic 4 are slightly different I think because the spokes are thinner it gives an impression that they are bigger than they look compared to the classic's... I don't know just trying to get a set of wheels that best suit my car..! I will also be chaning out my skirts to Blitz and want to make my spoiler not as wide..!

I am so indecisive my thoughts are as follows not in order of preference.

19'' - Work Meister SSR S1 3P - black center polished lips

19'' - CCW SP16 Hybrid with step outer barrel fully polished- At the rear using Good Year F1 Tyres 325 - 30 (these have good reputation on supraforums popular with the corvette community)

Mate Black Center's option

18'' - CCW Classic 4 - 315 30 - Toyo R888

18'' CCW Classic - 315 - 30 - Toyo R888
