BW is one of the biggest suppliers of OEM turbos. That's why I went for one.

The good old HKS tubular manifold still performs with the best of them Though I would also be sorely tempted by one of Whifbitzs masterpieces

If you can afford it I would just get a tried and tested kit like the HKS

I'll try and remember the first one I saw, but I know the BW on Dean's old single failed, and that can't have had many miles on it.

Do you mean on this thread? T51R has had many a thread on it. It's a bit of overkill for this car though.

Depending which variant you go with it's an 800 to 1000+ HP turbo. IIRC they are 70mm minimum. Effectively the bigger the turbo the further up the rev range the power comes into play, in a street car you want the power to come in as quickly as possible while still being useable. Most would agree that 500-700 is the ideal street setup. With that in mind you want to look for a turbo that makes that power easily enough, but with not too much of an overhead.

Thank you gentlemen. I have seen that video far too many times, spent my adolescence drooling over t51r supra videos....however, now I realise that on UK roads and draconian London speed laws, it will probably never happen.

We've just fitted an BW 8374 EFR turbo with one our turbo kits, off to the dyno tomorrow to check the power figure on it, spools up very fast this baby. The EFRs have a superb spec on them plus they have a blow off valve and boost control solenoid built into it so saving money there on extra items you don't need to buy for your build.

 

Not sure what happened with Deans BW turbo but apart from that we haven't heard of any failures. We hear of plenty of Precision failures though, that's why we don't sell them with our kits.

 

Jellybean, not sure what you mean about Fullrace? They don't make them for us if that's what you mean?

Match the turbo to the cam and the diff for the best setup.

 

I'd look at Owen Developments' ODGT3586HTA. Good for 600bhp+, match that to a good head/cam setup and an auto diff and you might well be on to a winner.
