Doing the cam belt

Noz

Recommended Posts

Just finished mine. Took me 1.5 hours to do. Crank pulley bolt is the worst part. I used the new snap on gun i bought and it undone it easy. I would change the tensioner and the guide aswell. But for some reason the tensioner is sold seperate and is £100. Heres how my car looked yesturday image.jpg

Actually using the part revolution starting ability twin cam position sensors give the 2JZ-GTE one can usefully use the firing stroke as additional torque, if they are really stroppy.

Those Snap On guns must have some torque ;)

Good one :)

Whenever I've changed a Cam Belt it's looked perfect !

So personally, I've stopped worrying about changing them routinely on engines that are NON-interference types (like the 2JZ) . . . it can be more trouble than its worth.

Actually, for the same reason, I don't think I would EVER buy a car that had an interference engine !

As above, depends on crank pulley

I'd recommend using a decent large ring spanner and lump hammer as breaker bars have too much give and absorb most of the shock

If crank pulley comes of easily it takes me 30 mins start to finish

I thought the 2jzgte is interference

And most the time I find the tensioner bearing is the part that needs renewing most
