Guest mentalfx
You can use .htaccess to do something called google tapping which modifies the urls to be more search engine friendly. This stretches as far as each individual topic and even forum names. It's a bit redundant now as google now understands vbb urls but would still help a bit and worth it if you're not scared of modifying the php code. Make a backup first as always! It seems there's not many incoming links to the site if you use the link: feature of google but I find that it's not very reliable. I have sites that I know are indexed by google that link to other sites that I look after but don't show up in the google link: listing. Don't know what's going on there exactly. The most reliable way to see inbound links is of course look through the referrer logs using something like awstats which is free and opensource. It's easy to install but you need access to your raw log files, just do a search on google for it.

Nic
If I was looking for a supra club in the uk I would search; 'Supra Club UK' or 'Supra UK' or I'd be on http://www.google.co.uk and select pages from UK and search for 'Supra'. We come in 2nd position on the first, 3rd on the other and no where on the last. I think the 'UK' reference is important, but the other site has a monoply on this... Aerotop Dave
I believe a certain mod was keen to not go too heavy on the 'UK' branding though...

Branners
Is that a at me! yep, YOU BROKE IT ALL which is why we are only second in the listing I think the current tags etc work pretty well...certainly keeps us right up there. JB
Supragal
Mcanny, no you weren't!! I remember it clearly and changes were made and the search rating improved loads (thanks) but when suggestions on 'how' were made I don't remember them being as clear as they were made in this thread, perhaps that was the difference. Not wanting to name the club "the UK owners club" is a totally different to not wanting UK to show in a search engine!! We have lots of non-UK members already, don't want to put people off.
