Scott
Do you mean track tyres for the track or do you mean for the strip? I'm pretty sure both will be very different recommendations.

Dnk
Take 2 rear wheels with you with drag radials fitted and swap them over at the strip, low profiles are a waste of time when dragging

I am using 255-50-16 and 265-45-17, but am thinking of trying 245-55-16.
Pig
I use R888's and think they are brilliant!
Robzki
I would think you'd be better with a smaller wheel 15-16" and a tyre with a larger sidewall, I'm guessing you need sidewall flex when dragging to get the power down
Dnk
Out of interest what would you consider to be low profile Dunk? I am using 255-50-16 and 265-45-17, but am thinking of trying 245-55-16. Not sure on the numbers but the smallest diameter rim you can fit with the tallest tyre you can fit would be my starting point. Obviously getting the gearing right is a must so this will vary from manual to auto and how each perform off the line and at the top end. I'd be checking what other supras with similar power and g box are running which should give you a good guide Edited January 31, 2012 by Dnk (see edit history)

Scott
I wouldn't recommend R888 for the strip. You will get a far better tyre for the 1/4 mile than them. They are great in that you can drive them legally on the street then pull up to the 1/4 mile and get a decent time, but you can do far better than those for pulling the times down. Samurai 20V
I think the likes of Hoosier, BF Goodrich, Mickey Thompson drag radials are all choices to consider.. I plan on using the RX7 16inch wheels with BF or Hoosier DR's... As mentioned the R888 is more a circuit tyre..

Gaz6002
As above, R888s are no good for drag racing and they're awful in the wet too. I'd be buying Vredesteins if I still had a car to put them on: http://www.blackcircles.com/tyres/brands/vredestein/sessanta
Littler
You could do as I have done. Get some 16" Stock wheels and put some MT ET streets on. If you have UK brakes though you will need a min of a 15mm spacer then they fit a treat

Chris Wilson
I would have thought a high aspect ratio drag tyre was more important on the strip than UK rear calipers? Fit some Jap spec calipers and 16 inch rims, or even some custom discs and calipers and 15 inch rims? Depends how keen you are to rip the drivetrain out of it Depends whether you are keen enough to swap set ups over for best performance in two totally different disciplines. Absolutely, brakes are only vaguely important on a drag setup, better to use a 'chute to slow you down, or a cocktail umbrella if you are NA
