That said, I'm a little bit unsure if anyone but a 10yr old could like that rear 'wing'

That's the thing. Karolina, nobody minds people with an imaginative mind but when it's done to the point where everyone cringes, it puts a bad name on us and gets more of their kind getting into Supras, which puts a bad name on ALL of us. And in the end, it puts the value of the Supra down.

We want to keep the image that the Supra is for mind-straight enthusiasts that match with all other high-standard performance cars. But how can we when childish bodykits get put on (and I'm not talking about Vielside - yes I have a strong dislike for Vielside but it's not bad to an extreme like these rear skirts on that first car).

In some sense, I agree with you but there has got to be a limit before other Supra owners just get embarrassed by the ugly duckling.

The 1st cars a shed end of, the owner has no vision or taste, even makes no1boyracer look like he had both.

Still it gives the rest of us style guru's something to laugh at.

I bet that will get into barryboys top ten in 2010 :D

No, it just gives him and his car a bad name, It don't paint us all with the same brush. It just make the rest of ours look better BUT he is/was obviously proud of it so he's happy and thats all that matters. Its put His Supra value down not Ours!

Well you can you think of it like this in sort of a timeline way...

1. Someone makes an awful looking Supra (some may say... "chav-like").

2. Other "chav-like" people agree that it looks awesome.

3. The value of that particular Supra depletes to an astonishingly low level.

4. A "chav-like" person is able to afford it and buys it.

5. They manage to get their friends into the same thing.

6. Low-cost Supras spread as more of these people drive and sell them with rubbish kits on.

7. Insurance goes up and we can't put up with all the new crap.

8. Real Supra enthusiasts (i.e. us) are forced to sell and to lower their prices and lose the real value of the car.

9. The car becomes to the next Citroen Saxo.

 You know what... I wrote that out and now I'm scared.

It's bull really, that won't happen. :) But there's always a possibility.

Its already happening ;) it started when cheap imports started hitting the country, now the countries flooded with them which will drive the decent cars values down with them.

Imagine what a uk spec would be worth if there no imports here ?

Im going to get flamed for this but I like it, the reason for this is that it would look great on the track drifting, also I see alot of stretched tyres at the BDC. BN kits are widely used dy drifters, and the wing is the stereo typical BGW that drifters love.

ermm

1: Are jspec cars really not 'decent'?

2: It would be pretty dull here if there was >600 supras in the country. How many forum members have uk cars?

The value is in what were prepared to sell them for. There are plenty of 'elite' cars owned by chavs. It seems a phase that all cars go through. they mod them badly but soon lose interest. most will be written off with inexperienced F1 wannabes. All models of celica I have have been owned by chavs at some point. but now they are worth money again. How many of us had mkII escorts etc and most of those were badly modded. Now they have a respectful following and are at unbelievable prices. mostly owned now by ex-chavs from the 80's :)

You can look on the prices/chav situation as a negative, or as a positive that there has never been a better time to buy for the real 'enthusiast'

And as for driving prices down, I bought mine almost 2 1/2yrs ago tt jspec 70k miles vv clean, absolutely standard for £3500. has it really dropped that much in price?

All I can say is, thank goodness I'm not into Scoobies. The marque of the Chav. Well, in my mind it is, anyway.

No no... don't worry. It is.

Some guy caught me looking at his scooby the other week and I tripped over a curb. His girlfriend laughed and he looked all smug about it... but what he didn't realise was that I was talking to my mate about how awful he had made it look.

The only time that would look great on track is sliding into a tyre wall on its roof on fire :bang::bang:
