A mate of mine already runs one at 1040hp although for his hillclimb events he runs it at 750hp

He is 3rd in this list bust should be breaking it this year.

Yeah, it's an amazing car!

This guy is actually reponsible for tuning the fastest 7M-GTE engine in the world. something like 7.12 secs in a funny car. He gets flown all over Europe to tune engines so not a bad job eh?

Edit: 7.44 secs: http://www.greekdragster.com/present/present061204_NewSupraWRbyMibrumRacingTeam.shtml

Do you not think a Vantage would be better suited to an LS engine rather than a 2jz?

I would suspect that a 2JZ swap would require the bracing removing at the least, but given the height of a 2JZ it would also be likely that a bonnet bulge would be required.

Also around 30-40% (maybe) of the engine weight will be further forward than the front suspension.

A nice newish merc or bimmer?

I would go for an SL but it sounds like convertibles are out, so maybe a CLK.

BMW wise, a 6 series or 3 series coupe? Or just about any bmw really.

I reckon there are loads of options from both Mercedes and BMW.

E46 M3. Already room for a straight 6 in there ...
