Luxluc
Luc, it'd be interesting to hear why he suggested not to cross them over? I will have talk with the guy to see why. I'll keep you informed. Luc
jevansio
Started work on the rear area tonight. Decided to use some corrigated cardboard, cut to shape so it rests on the outer trim lip, and covered in the black material. It's also secured on the rear tension set pole. Will add a bit of foam at the top so it fits snugly against the rear strut brace, and will prolly do something along the edge that looks like it's sagging for extra strength (although in person it looks fine). So just the other side and middle section to do (which will be removable to allow access to fuses/battery etc.

jevansio
Nope not yet , still want to redo the back seats, going to add some foam strips under the big piece to lift it further & get an even better finish.

jevansio
Well I finished off the rear this morning. It's by no means perfect, MDF or hardboard would have probably made a better job, but the cardbord is light . The hole around the fire extinguisher isn't perfect either. I used some foam insulation to support the outer pieces, I glued a little tab on the cardboard as the foam is hollow and that holds it perfectly. It's probably going to take a bit of trial and error to see if any of it needs reinforcing or whatever but that will only come when I start driving the car again. All in all I'm very pleased with it, it's much better than the bare metal which was very ugly & it will probably help interior noise no end. The whole job is 95% complete now. I may trim the hole around the fire extinguisher with some sort of trim. Also the carpet is coming back up to have extra foam out underneath (you can see it's uneven from the shot looking out the back). A nice comparison shot: Edited August 11, 2009 by jevansio (see edit history)
MarkR
That looks great. Some thin plywood would have been a good substitute. Light and strong.
jevansio
If I ever redo it I may choose something like that, good thing is I now have pretty good templates to go right off
Kev.O
Looks great Jay. I'm guessing you're not planning on using the boot to place stuff in. I would imagine that even a gym bag would break the cardboard
suprastu
That looks fantastic! It's very inspiring to see how you can do different things to the Supra. Hopefully I can see the car in the flesh one day (I don't live that far away). My wallet's starting to groan already with my plans for my Supra! Great stuff. jevansio
Many thanks guys Nuno, the cage like thing is a Do-Luck Rear Tension Set (discontinued, 2nd hand is only chance). The rear cross bar is Carbing (Nic) and the floor brace is Do-Luck (again Nic)
