SteveR Posted January 5, 2009 Share Posted January 5, 2009 (edited) Ah yes, the longer trip would account for the total cost difference - we went for a shorter time last time - drove over on the Friday to arrive in time for a lap or two in the afternoon. Saturday and Sunday on track and home on the Monday. To be honest, I think that was enough time; much more and we might have got complacent and made mistakes. For me it's the other way round; a 2~3 day trip = pressure to lap as much as possible in the short time you're there even if the weather/traffic conditions aren't great. 5 days = no pressure, pick & choose, chill out lots, watch others, soak up the atmosphere. edit - plus, most of the expense (and hard work) is getting there & back; staying for 5 days Vs 3 doesn't cost much more (and isn't as tiring). It will be the mr2 if it lasts castle combe in april Hi yes i have spoken to edgar who owns the guest house in germany and he has penciled us in 8 rooms, i have to send him the money in full before we get there to confirm. I will open another bank account tomorrow and will be asking for the hotel money in full at the end of april, this will be paid into the bank account and then once all 8 rooms are full i can then send it onto Edgar via bank transfer. If all 8 rooms get full then we have 4 other rooms avalible next door, if people wish to get there own accomadation then fine but would be nice if we are all together as Edgar has a bar and a TV room for late night drinkers Here is the Ferry page we have booked with just confirm the dates and times are the same as ours if you wish to travel down as a convoy, Out 23rd july at 6am - In 28th july 4pm, From dover to Dunkirk Out - Dunkirk to Dover back home. http://www.norfolkline.com/ferry/SelectFare.aspx Just been on to check and they have gone up already from £40 return to £47 so if your serious then book while its cheap, pm me to let me know who has booked the ferry for my records please. Sevenman Posted January 14, 2009 Share Posted January 14, 2009 Good on littlenum and bignum to organise another trip, it's a lot of work, and I am sure everyone will have as much fun as last year Following last year I imagine people probably will: be very careful with their cars in the few weeks before the trip check their wheels are firmly attached with great care My car is having a bit of time out to sort out a few issues with soft 11 year-old suspension but hopefully I will see a few of you on UK tracks instead....
