It doesn't matter on gender - what does matter is skill and experience in such cars.

Jean was quite happy driving mine 'til she managed to go 2nd turbo still with steering angle applied coming off a roundabout. My Supra was very nearly written off that day and Jean hasn't wanted to drive it since... blaming me for 'ruining it' and 'making it undriveable' with my mods :taped:

I think she realised, as do many people male and female, that she had stuff to learn about driving high powered RWD cars and now is thinking about Supras again but wants an NA so it's easier for her to handle and wants me to give her Supra driving lessons lol :search: Personally I think an NA is a good introduction to powerful RWD cars, it should be very reliable without the turbo related stuff to go wrong and also not end up going down the same slippery modding slope as I have with my TT...

Cheers,

Brian.

My Girlfriend hates my Supe as she when we have a falling out, she always mentions " oh yeah, I don't want to slag off your bloody precious Supra"

The language is more colourful than that but it's along those lines...:D

Infact, all of my Girlfriends in the past of owning both of my Supra's over the last 2 years have said pretty much the same sort of thing, come to think of it...:D

Thats my thoughts as well. My girlfriend is insured on my supe and i have let her drive it (even on her own). But high power and rwd comes with higher risks, and i know for a fact that if something happens while she is driving she wouldnt know how to control the car.

For a first RWD car I'd recommend an MR2 MK2. Can pick one up for under £2k now (n/a) and there's some nice ones about, cheaper than the Supe, cheaper insurance, and also smaller, so easier to park! ;)

It's a good starting point, that's what I did anyway. Buildoing up to a Supra! :D

First time my wife drove the supe, she didnt even get out of the parking space outside the house before she kerbed the alloys !!!. She had literally moved about 6yards before i heard an almighty grinding noise :taped:

Then instead of reversing she just carried on and kerbed it a load more :taped:

Come to think of it she only ever crashes into stationary objects

2007 - Supe into kerb

2005 - Zafira into bollard on patrol station forcourt (protecting the pumps), carried on driving and smashed front door +sill, rear door, rear quarter and rear wheel.

2004 - Escort into stationarly bright orange bollard in car park

Having said that, she is generally a good driver, very confident and doesnt mess about. So long as it moves, she wont crash into it:D

My late mum, in her nineties, drove my TT and my R33 GTR, and in her late eighties my Renault GTA turbo and Renault 5 Turbo 2 (mid engine homologation special one). I seem to recall she had a few stiffeners before she had a go in the GTA as she found that intimidating for some reason (probably `cos it was low and hard for her to see out well). I tried to persuade her have a go in my Dallara, but she wasn't having any of that :) In the wars you have to remember women often had to drive all sorts of weird stuff, they are mollycoddled these days, give them a fair crack at things and they might surprise you. Surprise you the wrong way though and you should give THEM a fair crack .... ;)
