my rx7 did it loads. Was awesome flaming it in front people at night. loved the attention

great for doing to those annoying people who go up right behind you. Show them a few flames and they'll soon back off. ;)

i would have a guess at that being a UK/EU spec with a maf sensor as opposed to a map, the maf sensor reads the air going into the turbo (and hens out the atmospheric bov = megga rich) and the map sensor measures the pressure in the intake manifold;)

IMO a propper flame out such as wez's looks pretty cool and so does the example posted by L33 flaming on the open roads is illegal and mr plod will have you;)

flaming naturally is not illegal , but flamer kits on the public roads are illegal.

Thats interesting, surely to flame you would need an unrestricted path hence taking the cats out

If you then flame in front of PC Plod I'm sure he'd pull you over and demand you put them back in within 7days e.t.c - so it would be illegal in a roundabout way

Only on cars that actually require a cat :innocent:

my celica gt4 had a flame kit and the peelers (police) spotted a 4 or 5 foot flame out the back when i was slowing down for a round about lol they stopped in the middle of the road and looked in amazement haha however that was a good few years ago and the peelers over in ireland didnt no what it was haha

The air is being vented to atmosphere instead of recirculated back into the system. Because of the way fueling is calculated on the UK spec the ECU assumes the air is going back into the system and therefor puts in the correct amount of fuel for the calculation. Because the air actually leaves the system there is extra fuel, causing the car to overfuel. The unburned fuel hits the manifold and ignites causing a flame.

Would only happen when the manifold was hot enough though. Also free flowing exhaust and double decat would be required.

so that vid i put up, is that a flamer kit or not? because he aint raggin the tits offit to get it to work like the bee-r

nope thats a flamer kit i had the same thing on the gt4 basically its a spark plug in the exhaust that burns the unburnt fuel when you lift off the accelerator:cool:

this is me playing with it coming back from usc 2005
