Without wanting to cause offence to anyone but if I were dyslexic and was using public forums I might consider using a spell-check before I post. Infact 9 times out of 10 I do anyway because my spelling isn't always great.

Only an idea. :search:

Dyslexic my ar*e!

I tend to take most dyslexia "card carriers" with a pinch of salt. 9/10 times it's just an excuse because they couldn't be bothered to pay attention in school.

Funny how his posts improved quite a bit once he was pulled up on it.

Dyslexic my arse, amazing how his other posts, following the spell check by that zappo guy, were in perfect english. He might well have used a spell check, but dyslexia doesnt make you thick, it makes you mix things up now and again!

I thought dyslexia was about getting letters round the wrong way and not realising why it's wrong?

Dyslexia manifests itself in many different ways, not just as above. I suffer from it, which makes my career path much harder.... but spell checker is my friend!

I have also noted that a lot of people do tend to blame dyslexia when really the problem is laziness.

So someone missing letters out completely and basically writing as it's spoken is just stupid and not dyslexic aren't they?

 Dyslexic are we? :D

One a separate note: Did you know that the Christian dyslexic association is becoming ever more popular? They worship dog every Sunday.

That was basically my understanding of Deslyxia

I know I've spelled Dyslexic wrong in case anyone points it out

Are there any tests that can be done? I have issues sometimes transpose letters and numbers, at work mainly..

I also cannot spell, but that due to be being crap at it.

Yes there are and most are run by organisations. Dore is one of them if my memory serves. The tests are quite expensive though (£250+)

Dyslexia is most commonly characterized by difficulties with learning how to decode at the word level, to spell, and to read accurately and fluently. Dyslexic individuals often have difficulty "breaking the code" of sound-letter association (the alphabetic principle), and they may also reverse or transpose letters when writing or confuse letters such as b, d, p, q, especially in childhood. However, dyslexia is not a visual problem that involves reading letters or words backwards or upside down, nor are such reversals a defining characteristic of dyslexia.

Many individuals with dyslexic symptoms involving reading, writing, and spelling also exhibit symptoms in other domains such as poor short-term memory skills, poor personal organizational skills and problems processing spoken language. These symptoms may coexist with or overlap with characteristics among others of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, auditory processing disorder, developmental dyspraxia, dyscalculia, and/or dysgraphia. However, dyslexia and attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder are not correlated developmental problems
