Fear not, tis not waning... I've only just got back.

All the ideas sound good but I'm still gonna go for my Scotland idea from an orgainising perspective but as Lee says feel free to orgainse others :D

Right, loving tdrs idea of camping in a field, that sorts parking as well and also a place for a BBQ and so on. Obviously we'd need to convoy about a bit to see stuff.

Brian- how central is your parents place? Are their local hotels etc for those that don't do camping? Would they really not mind? And, er... it's not marshland is it? :D

Nah, they wouldn't mind so long as we clear up after ourselves and don't leave a mess :)

There's local hotels both in Livingston (10mins drive away), Bathgate (15mins drive away) and Edinburgh (30mins drive away). There's some great country roads roundabout too for a good drive undisturbed by the police or cameras. Loch Lomond isn't a far drive either and offers spectacular views and great spots along the banks for BBQ's etc.

Nope, not marshland.... nice solid ground - it's actually a garden just too big / expensive / too much hassle to landscape! Cutting the grass with the ride on lawn mower is fun though :D

Cheers,

Brian.

also think about a run through Glen Coe which is atmospheric!

the roads around Crail are also fun

Here's a nice long route for consideration...

Start off in a field near Edinburgh

M9 to Perth

A90 to Dundee

A90 to Aberdeen (can cut off for a stop in Montrose/Arbroath along the way)

A96 to Inverness (gateway to the Highlands)

228 miles approx...say 2/3 days tops (with stopping/camping time) to do the above.

Then from Inverness...

A82 down side of Loch Ness to Glen Coe (camping grounds here)

A82 to Fort William and on down side of Loch Lomond (plenty of camping grounds here)

Finish at Glasgow

151 miles or there abouts for the above...say 2/3 days max with stopping/camping time...

Then M8 to Edinburgh or M8/M74 Carlisle and South...

Sorry page didn't load quick enough so missed Supramans posts.

How do people feel about this kinda drive or do we want to use the free camping as "home" and travel back there each night? Might be easier from carrying stuff and from the point that many will have driven from the south coast!!

Thoughts?
