Kranz
I've decided that I don't like hospitals...... they're full of sick people Following on from this thread http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=135725 I've been feeling pretty bad ever since, with a constant severe cough. Well, things took a turn for the worse on sunday when I started coughing up mouthfulls of blood. Not just a bit, but half a cup full at a time. And the gurgling noise was none too pleasant! The other half called an ambulance & I was rushed into hospital. To say I was worried was an understatement. I've been to a few sudden deaths where people have had the artery in their lungs rupture..... a horrific way to go So I manage to stop the coughing, and luckily the bleeding stops (as I'm not coughing it up??). I stay in overnight and see lots of doctors & have many blood tests (arms look like a druggy), X rays etc and the final diagnosis is the infection had knackered my left lung & caused it to swell. The coughing had caused some blood vessles to rupture, filling part of my left lung with blood. The hospital was extremely full, so as I could walk I was sent home yesterday with very strong antibiotics & some clotting stuff. Been coughing up big blood clots since, but at least its not fresh blood. Still trying not to cough! I don't want it starting again. The moral of the story? Go to the doctors & get antibiotics/treatment if something lasts longer than normal, or isn't normal. Braving it out & not taking time off sick are sometimes the worst things to do! Sandy-m2
Now see i'm a bit concerned about this, i've had a chest infection for almost 6 weeks, i did a course of pills the doc's gave me and am no better, so i went to the Doctors yesterday and the woman says i'ts just a cough - never mind the fact i cant breeth (asthma) and am coughing till i'm sick. She says to me - you dont feel ill do you!!! so i go over how i feel again and she says, again, its JUST a cough. I hate doctors - anyway got more drugs. Hope your feeling better soon bud. If you're producing masses of green stuff when you cough then be careful. Its an infection in the lungs & I'd insist on it being investigated with an X ray etc. I'd hate for you to get to the stage I did. My 2 year old daughter is traumatised by it. She got some strawberry jam on her sock yesterday and started screaming 'Daddy's blood'. Poor thing. It must have been terrifying for her.

Respect to you, you seem to be handling it like a Trojan. Hope you recover quickly, or at least keep away from any restaurants I might frequent Seriously, take care, sounds `orrible.
