  1. Ouch, I hope the curb was sorry! I did this in one of my previous cars and the alloys were only a year old, I tried for a replacement but couldn't get one. Seems like if they are not the current model your stuffed On the insurance side of things, when I did it they would only pay for one wheel and I had to pay for the other 3... That along with the excess on the policy ended up costing me £1200 for a stupid little crash. I learnt my lesson "don't drive too fast on roads I don't know, as you never know, there could be a T-junction right around that 60 mph corner" needless to say I couldn't stop and rammed the curb to avoid a crash.
  2. I have read the rather long link Michael posted and it explained every thing I needed to know. Basically stay clear! Oh well was just a thought.. cheers peeps Hornet
  3. I use the Blitz Power SBC-iD and power iD meter which takes the digital input from the speedo and reads that. My speedo indicates approx 106-107mph when the Blitz meter reads 100mph. I will be fitting my in car PC over the next few weeks and will be able to GPS speed track the car and see how far out the Blitz Power iD meter actually is too. The thing about GPS is that you need to keep the car at a constant speed for a short while to allow it to catch up due to rapid acceleration, also you gotta make sure your on a flat road as going up a hill will give you slower time etc. The Blitz Power iD meter allows you to do: 1/8th mile, 1/4 mile, 0-50mph, 0-100mph etc etc. The time below were done with my car BPU with crap rear tyres so traction was a problem: 0-50mph = 4.2sec 0-100 = 11.8 (13 psi) 0-100 = 10.4 (17.5 psi) 0-100 = 9.6 (24.6 psi - well overboosted by mistake, luckily didnt blow anything up!) 1/4 = numerous runs between 12.9 - 14 secs depending on traction. I've now got new Goodyear F1 GSD3's all around and am BPU + so cant wait for some dry weather to do somemore runs Hornet
  4. My fog light is on a switch on the dashboard, the importer fitted a dual element bulb in the normal light area and it passed the SVA + MOT etc. I thought the fog lights had to be seperate from your normal rear lights, but is this ok because there are two sets of lights at each side and the dual bulbs (fogs) are only brightening one per side? not that i'm bothered cause it passed and I didn't have to have a stupid dangling looking thing Hornet
  5. Yeah if you goto that link on ebay then goto their own website, they have a 2 seater hybrid off roader one with chunky wheels that looks great fun for 2.5k I would love a go in something like that..
  6. I wouldn't get one / two of them for a performance reason but to make it run more efficiently and to help prevent coking. Just wondered if it would be worth getting one for any reason at all... or just not bother. If no one else has tried / got one on their Soop, I'll probably get a couple and see what happens, i'll be the guinie (spelling?) pig so to speak... So speak up and let me know what you think... 7. Just been browsing around the net as I do and found this: http://www.ecotekplc.co.uk/chrome.htm There are more detailed articles about the product on their site, just wondered if anyone had tried them and if they would be any good for our Supra's.... Opinions... Hornet
  8. Agreed with jonshaw, If you can state you require your license for work they will not ban you. Then depending how sorry you appear to be will depend on points / fine amounts. But to be fair if he has already had a ban for DD 6 months ago he hasn't really learnt his lesson has he (according to the courts) so could still be heavy fine.
  9. It must just be my taste or something, but i REALLY HATE that colour, not just because there is a lot of it, but the whole damn colour. The boot thingy just looks wrong! I could live with the rest just diff colour.
  10. Like DaveRex said, its our opinions and we can't judge the other person. But at least you know what your options are etc. Best of luck matey. Hornet
  11. Not absolutely true there Dale, Even if you have an accident on a 2nd car policy when it comes to renewal of your 1st car policy you are obliged to inform them of any accident. Now although this may not effect your premium with some companies, it will cause premiums rises if you change insurer! Although I wish it did work they you described They tell you all this in the "failure to disclose relevant information" part of their policies - same sort of thing for most financial contracts or insurances.
  12. It would default to the owner, but fancy solicitors can get around this. Trouble is, on a much worse note, what if his has an accident and kills someone then denies knowing anything about it etc etc. IMHO there is too many things that can bite you in the arse and cause all sorts of problems. The only way to save all future hassle is for him to arrange his own financies and you sell the car in one go.
  13. Some companies will let you insure someone else's car but its a bit messy. If you do as boneyard suggests, which is a valid option you could also come unstuck as if he gets speeding or parking offences etc then again it could get messy. If he is really struggling to get credit from Yes car credit or black horse then he would need to speak to an indepent financial advisor and arrange a personal loan with someone as a "Guarantor" but make sure the guarantor knows that they are ultimately responsible for the payments. 14. I would agree with daveRex, personal contracts like the one your after don't really stand up for much and you would have to go to court on more than one occasion to sort it out an then it could be a "I can only afford a fiver a month job" To have an agreement with throws its weight around so to speak you have to be a financial company which is regulated by the FSA (financial services authority) or GISC which allows them to re-cliam the car etc etc in case of default. Even though I'm a Financial & Mortage advisor I would not attempt to do what your asking, just wouldn't be worth the risk. I would tell him to get a personal loan and if he can't then contact an adverse loan provider like Yes car credit or Blackhorse. There rates are higher but they accept just about anybody. Hope this helps. Grant
  15. Seems to be the time of year, loads of lorries done that over past month or so. You would think they would be more careful!

I know Gaz, shame their not the same car, as they are much cheaper - hehe
  20. As long as you can state to your credit card company that you have done everything within your power to solve the problem but the Company is not playing ball, then your credit card company can simply reverse the charges and your money is taken from the companies account without option! The company then has to prove to its bank that it is in the right before they can have the money back. If a road has a pot hole which you could damage a wheel on then you can claim off the council or whatever company is paid for maintaining that road. This happened to me when I had my Celica T-sport, Brand new set of alloys, hit a pothole and bent the rim. Rang the council and after spending 2 hours getting passed around I finally got through to Alfred McAlpine who were responsible for this particular road. Faxed them a copy of my invoice for the alloys and they posted me a cheque. Lot of messing about but I didnt end up out of pocket. I would personally just inform them that if they don't help you, you will simply return the wheels to them and charge your card back, they will know there is nothing they can do to stop you! Best of luck matey.
