Running is good for your fitness but not good on your joints. I would recommend joining a Gym or using other fitness techniques. If people dont want to join a gym and have no real idea of how to get fit, improve on weight or tone up then I would suggest going to a Gym for an induction course then they should give you ideas which can be done from home.
Just don't over do it, or you'll feel aweful and give up, start of small and work your way up as such.
Wish I still had to the time to be into gym as I used to, I loved it. I have one side of my garage fully fitted out as a gym too. Damn I'm depressed now as I've let myself slide
