Is it possible to reset the ECU via some other way?? I am not too sure how my alarm system will react if I disconnect the battery thats all..... Any idea's? I heard there is a way of pulling out a certain microchip or something, although I have no idea where that could be!! Nick

oh right, cheers mate.... Its only just started dropping off to 500 rpm, so maybe it was just a minor clitch and will idel at normal next time.... Interesting to hear that the NA's as standard idle at differing rpm's.... Thanks
  3. hahahhahahah sorry Supradibbs, missed your reply about the Puma!!! I have to say its abit of a running joke with me and my mates. Its actually owned by a forty year old woman, who has clearly got no taste in cars!! absolutley brilliant!!!! Thanks for the laugh mate!! Nick
  4. Thanks for all the replies guys - nice to meet you all..... Nick

Alright guys, What should my Supra idle at? When I start the motor it seems to idle at 2,000 rpm. After a minute or so, it will drop to 1,000 rpm. Today I noticed it dropped to as low as 500 rpm when I first pulled away in it, with it struggling not to stall. It seems very eratic either way - is this normal on an NA Supra??? Any idea's? Thanks Nick
  6. Hi All, I am just writing to introduce myself to the forum. I have just purchased my first Supra (1996 NA Import).... I have attached a picture of it. I currently live in Cheshire, so if anyone fancies meeting up give me a shout!! Thanks for all the replies regarding my previous message by the way!! (technical problem)... Nick Potts
  7. wicked!! Some food for thought for NA owners! Although I doubt I will be removing any rear seats (despite how limited they are).... Thanks for the advice all the same Nick
  8. It would be great if someone can come and take a look at it. I currently live in Winsford, Chesihire but could travel somewhere if it isnt too far.... Does anyone live in this area who might be able to help out a fellow Supra owner??? (long shot but hey, worth a try)!! Thanks Nick
  9. Hey thanks for the tip Ray!! I have just filled up the tank with Shell Optimax this morning, after reading several subjects on it at this site. I didnt realise that it would make that much difference to be honest and thought that it would only improve the engines lifetime or something... Can I ask anybody, whether or not I will have to reset the ECU because of adding Optimax? I dont know what has been put in it since it came over here from Japan in June this year, but am assuming it was the cheaper stuff..... Will this have an effect??? (maybe this is why I get that warning light appear - sorry thats from another question I placed on this site!!!) I have alot to learn!!! Thanks Nick
  10. Thanks for all your tips guys!! Sounds like I should just bite the bullet and get it checked out at a toyota dealership. I have checked the brake fluid level and its on Max (or almost on Max), so it looks like it cant be that.... Oh well - not what I was hoping for after only a day of owning it. Apart from this problem its been everything I was expecting and more! Regards Nick
  11. erm not too sure about the active spoiler!! or down button.... sorry only picked it up on Wednesday and dont have a clue about active spoilers!! Any tips on finding out if it has one?? Regarding the lights - they are on when the handbrake is up, but when I drop it they go off - problem is, that when I have drove for a few minutes, the engine warning triangle comes on again - very strange!! Nick
  12. erm not quite deafened me. Its louder than a normal car (if there is such a thing), but it isnt deafening..... I guess I should get it looked at... What do you guys do if you have taken the cats out and your MOT is coming up??? Is it easy to put them back in?? Nick
  13. Thanks Lust2Luv!! Great tips.... I already have an aftermarket exhaust on the car, but as to whether or not the cats have been removed is anyones guess!! I suppose the best thing to do would be to take it to a pro who can let me know!! Nick
  14. Thanks for that guys... Can I ask about "de-catting"? I am a motorbike fan, and have little knowledge on cars to be honest. Would this cost much to do?? Is this something that needs to be done by a professional? How can I tell if it has been done before? Will it effect the MOT come next June? Sorry alot of questions - I appreciate your time in replying again!! Thanks Nick
  15. Cheers for the help mate..... Regarding the engine mods - I was unsure as to what exactly can be done on an NA? I have read alot of articles on TT mods, but not much on improving NA's (with the exception of adding NOS).... Do you know of many engine mods to improve the performance of and NA?? Finally - anyone know the top speed of my NA??? (just out of interest).... Thanks in advance! Nick
  16. Hi guys I have just purchased a '96 NA Supra, and am wondering about performance information regarding this type of car. It doesnt have any mods and is standard apart from a larger exhaust and body kit.... Can anyone tell me what sort of 0-60mph times this car would be capable of?? Also, what top speed would this car do (assuming the limiter has been removed)?? I only seem to be able to find performance figures for the awesome TT!! Thanks Nick
  17. Thanks for the advice guys - I will top up the brake fluid tonight. Lets hope that sorts things out... Regards Nick
  18. Sorry mate, forgot to ask.... Can you tell me what sort of Oil to put into Supra's (brake and engine)....??? Cheers Nick
  19. Cheers for that Jake - I will have a read.... The light originally came on after a few miles, but seems to now come on straight away. Its almost as if whatever the problem was originally, is getting worse!! Anyway, I will take a look at that web link - hopefully I will find some useful engine info there... Thanks mate Nick
  20. Hi Jake Just got back mate from the drive. This is what happens: Turn the ignition on and all lights appear including two oil lights, one red and one orange. Then when the car starts up all lights go off, except for the red triangle warning light. I have not checked the oil or brake levels as yet, but will do tonight. If it is something to do with oil level, what oil would you recommend for a NA Supra?? Is it fully synthetic?? Thanks for your help again mate! Nick
  21. Hi Jake I am not totally sure about that one mate. I am going out in it now for lunch so will check exactly what lights come on and what lights go off as I turn the car over. I will reply as soon as I get back with the findings!! Thanks mate Nick
  22. Thanks Attiluak You have put my mind at rest a little. I will check all the lights and brake fluid tonight and hopefully that will solve the problem. Its nice to hear advice from more experianced owners, so a big thank you to all that replied!! Nick
  23. Hi Attiluak, There are no other warning lights on at all. Its just this single red triangle in the centre of the speedo.... Is it a warning from the computer? I am worried that it is a warning about something serious like brake fluid or something!! The car is coming up to 70,000km on the clock - I was wondering if the light was some sort of service reminder or something? Is this a feature on Supra's?? Nick
  24. Thanks for the replies.... The light comes on every time after about three minutes of starting the engine. Its a solid red triangle, and doesnt turn off till the engine is turned off!! I wouldnt mind, but I only got the car yesterday!! Faye - I will get some photo's done and will introduce myself asap... Nice to meet some other Supra owners!
  25. Hi, I am now a new owner of a Supra MKIV, and am very pleased after wanting one for years!! Unfortunately its only an NA, but hopefully in a couple of years I will be in for a TT.... I have a problem though. I picked up the car last night and after about 3 miles of driving noticed a big red warning sign appear in the middle of the speedo!! Whats going on??!! It has 69,990 km on the clock - is it something to do with a service reminder or something more serious??!! Please help.... (its an import if that makes any difference).. Thanks in advance for any help guys! I am hoping this is nothing serious!!! Nick
