f**k me your joking!! A ban!!

Basically I was following a large wagon going extremly slow - As I approached each set of lights round this roundabout they changed to amber (this is where I should of stopped). But being in a rush I decided to go through them, unfortunately at a very slow pace behind this truck. They were all after each other, so as I just missed the first, I just missed the second and third..... No excuses really, but some sort of reason. I never as a rule make a habit of jumping red lights!!! Never have before and never will again!!! I am certainly not a dangerous driver - never been stopped or cautioned before either in the car or on the bike!! Nick

I have a court case next Monday which I have pleaded guilty for (by post), for an incident I was involved with back in June. I was caught running three sets of red lights going through Chester City Centre (albeit only just turned red lights one after the other).... Does anyone know what I will be looking at in terms of points/fines??? Anyone had anything like this happen to them?? I have been told to expect anything upto 9 points and a hefty fine!!! Please say this isnt true!!! Thanks in advance for any info Nick

Excellent - cheers for the reply merckx!! I will give it a go this weekend and try and sort out the problem.... Thanks Nick

Hi guys My electric aerial does not work. When I start the car, I can hear what sounds like the aerial motor working (the same happens when I turn it off).... Problem is, the aerial is stuck about half way out - it doesnt move in or out!! Is it just a case of buying a new aerial from halfords or somewhere and just inserting it in? Or do I need to purchase a specific Supra electric jobby - no doubt at some silly price?? Any idea's?? Thanks Nick

Cheers for the reply mate. I dont have ABS on my Supra so that would explain the lack of light!!! Thanks for the tips on how to solder too. I will give it a go over the weekend. Just goes to show how helpful this site is - another excellent response!!! Thanks for all your help guys - I will repay you all one day!! Nick

Oh right!! Well that throws a spanner in the works!!! Can anyone confirm what lights are supposed to appear when the ignition is turned?? I dont want to spend hours trying to resolder some joints if there is nothing wrong with it in the first place...... If there is supposed to be a fourth light then that also causes complications!! - I definately only have two oil lights that come on........very strange!! Thanks Nick
-
Hi Jurgen I have observed the lights when I turn the ignition and here are the findings! There are two lights on the right hand side which appear, a red oil can and a yellow oil can. There is no engine warning light here, which would suggest a problem with the light. All the lights on the left hand side seem to light up okay..... I will follow dangerous brains technique in resoldering the engine light joints in a hope that it will then light up when the general warning light comes on. That way I can use the engine diagnostics technique to hopefully sort out a code for you guys to look at. All I need now is a soldering tool, and some free time this weekend to have a crack at it. It will be the first time I have done something like this, so fingers crossed I dont cock it up!! Thanks for all the help and advice guys - I owe you big time!! Nick

Thanks for the reply dangerous brain, thats just the sort of info I was after. I will follow your notes and try to sort out the problem. Your right about the light by the way. It is the large red triangle in the centre of the display. I was under the impression that this light was the engine warning light, but as you say, thats something else!! I havent really tried just turning the key and observing the lights that come on, so I will do that next. From memory only the two oil lights come on at the right, and no yellow engine light, although I will check this first. Thanks for your time in writing up some notes - shows how good this sort of forum is for helping people like me who have very little knowledge with cars!! All the best mate Nick

Interestingly enough, the numbers on my temperature dial do not light up either!! I wonder if it just needs a new bulb or something? I assumed it was supposed to be like this!! Nick

Hi Guys I have posted a problem concerning my warning light on this forum recently, and after receiving loads of replies (cheers for all the tips guys - you know who you are) I still cant seem to sort the problem. Anyway, I thought it might be worth trying one more time as I know how technical alot of you guys are after reading loads of the threads on this board!! Basically what happens, is that after about 2-3miles of starting the engine and driving off, I get the engine warning light appearing. It stays on till the car is turned off - a solid light, no flickering or flashing and no other lights on at the same time - just the engine light. Its the same light that appears with the handbrake light when you start the engine, and the handbrake is up. I have tried the following with no results after getting some advice from fellow Supranet members: 1 - Ensured the bonnet is closed properly 2 - Reset the ECU in the car 3 - Topped up the engine and brake fluid Is there anything else anyone can suggest that might point to the problem? Its really starting to worry me now!! Any further help would be well received!! It might benefit for me to say that my car is an NA. I dont have any active spoilers or anything like that. Thanks in advance for any other tips which might point to the problem! I appreciate your time guys!! Regards Nick

Cheers for that mate - thats great! Nick

Hi Guys I have spotted some workshop manuals on ebay for sale. They come in .pdf format.... I am not too sure how accuarate or thorough they are, but I have put a bid on one (I think there are four at the minute on there)..... They are mostly reserved at 99p, so I guess are worth a try!! If I win one I will post a copy up on here for everyone to view. Nick

Out of interest, where did you get the UK glass headlamps from mate? And how much did they cost you? Thanks Nick
-
Hi Stu I dont seem to be able to find that link either now!! Very strange..... It was on the top of the website, along with resources, imports, links and BBS/Chat..... Not too sure where it has gone - can anyone else help Stu???? Nick
-
Cheers for all the replies guys. Nice to meet you all.... Regarding the skirts, I am not too sure if they are original or replica's to be honest. They were on the car when it was imported into this country, and I am the first UK owner (only second owner in total)..... Is there any way of telling they are original??? Chris - I have posted a reply to another thread regarding your de-catting. It would be nice to visit your shop sometime and see if there are any goodies I can pick up! Regards Nick
-
Thanks for the info Chris. I would be interested in purchasing one of your exhausts off you for sure. Unfortunately it wont be till after christmas, what with just purchasing two new cars, and having to save up abit! Can you let me know what sort of costs I would be looking at though, and I will put your contact details somewhere safe for the start of the new year? Thanks Nick
-
f*ckin hell it has been one of those days!!!! Cheers for the reply. I will get it right next time!! Nick

hahahhaha christ, its been one of them days!!! Whats a ECU anyway???!!! Dont know where I got that from....... Okay, I will try and reset my EFI tonight. Thanks for all the tips guys - I really appreciate your help. Nick

Thanks for the tips - I have sent my payment using Paypal Regards Nick Potts

Cheers lust2luv, I was clearly in the wrong area!! Am I right in saying that once I have found the fuse box (just behind the battery), I simply unplug the single fuse labelled ECU, for about 2 minutes, and then just plug it back in?? Sorry to sound completely stupid - just dont want to cock it up!! Thanks Nick
-
Excellent - thanks for the reply Nic.... I will have a look tonight and try and locate it. Just a guess, but is it the small tiny Black box in the middle of the engine - probably the size of a ciqurette packet??? There are several fuses in there I think....
-
I am being warned that I have to pay to become a member - how do you do this?????? Nick
-
Thanks for the replies guys. I will have a search on the internet for the ECU resetting directions. Hopefully I will be able to view a diagram somewhere as I really havent got a clue about where the fuse box is!!! Nick

My NA is a manual. I had the choice between this and a silver auto, but chose this because I prefer manuals - just my own preference, not because it was faster or anything..... Nick
