  1. Have you ever seen a film called "dude where's my car" ?
  2. No mummy, make it go away!!!!
  3. Good work on the roadside repair! Handy you had sufficient tools to get those damn clips off!
  4. Gav, I'm sorry to hear about that. I'm still investigating mine, and it seems like my matrix might be blocked after all. Perhaps we can have a matrix-changing meet? Edit: if you want a hand with it, you're welcome to call me.
  5. That's a terrible turn of events. You should report it. If nothing comes of it and they can't trace the idiot, you haven't lost anything.
  6. Currently the heater doesn't work in my car. I've tried eliminating airlocks or a block in the heater matrix. Both of these causes seem VERY unlikely (but, never say never). Whitesupraboy2 kindly took a look for me recently and checked that the small motor (behind the gloveboxes) that switches between warm air from the matrix and ambient air from outside was working OK, and it did seem to be. My question is, what other flaps etc are there that control whether the cabin gets heated air or unheated air? Are they accessible without taking the whole dash out?
  7. Kieren, Just to check, have you had your motor contacts refurbed as well?
  8. Yeah, the mileage and price doesn't quite add up. I'm not saying don't consider it, but do make sure it is as solid (structurally, mechanically and legally) as the owner no doubt says it is.
  9. Not much help, but I would be very surprised that something was wrong with the motor contacts already, unless they were fitted incorrectly / not tight enough. I'm not aware of any other problems with the starter motor. Someone more knowledgeable will be along soon....
  10. Visit a scrappy? Jezzy always has loads of supes in.
  11. I've taken the bottom one off. I've looked for the extra bolts: there's a silver metal bar running along the bottom of the top glovebox. That had 2 bolts and 3 screws which I removed, but it still won't budge. Any ideas?
  12. I've searched, but couldn't find an answer. I'm trying to remove the top glovebox. I've removed 2 covered screws on the inside roof of it, but it still won't budge? I couldn't see any other fastenings. Have I missed some, or are these things glued in?
  13. I hear what you're saying, but I disagree. 2 wrongs don't make a right. Any positive discrimination put in place almost never provides re-balance for those who the negative discrimination originally affected. e.g. if you negatively discriminated against me, it might leave me feeling angry and frustrated. If I then had positive discrimination applied in my favour, the "victim" of the positive discrimination would be extremely unlikely to be you. It'll be someone else in a completely different part of my life, who will then feel angry and frustrated. So the +ve discrimination has introduced more people to the disease that is discrimination.
  14. I was watching it with her! I don't find Nigella that attractive. It's just the way she crams in as many innuendos as possible. Michael: I agree. Some of the staged scenes were, well, staged. It's like she's dabbling with an acting career. I do like her style of cooking though. Genuinely simple recipes that even I could follow. Some TV cooks say they do simple food. Well, when your Speciality Dish is beans on toast, their so-called simple cooking is a bit of a step up.
  15. She's filthy. "I like it with the hump pointing upwards" "Nice and moist inside" "Salty juices" Even the background music was porno. Who needs Television X?
  16. This weekend I drained the coolant, flushed the heater matrix through with hose water and changed the thermostat. When re-filling with coolant, I did it by the book. I put the heater control to the top temperature, pre-filled the heater matrix with water to ensure it would be filled with water, and filled the system SLOWLY via the rad cap. All to no avail though: the coolant seems to get hot as expected, the temperature indicated on the dashboard is normal, the rubber hoses get hot (including the ones to/from the heater matrix), but the heater puts out no heat into the cabin. Any ideas before I resign myself to getting the dash taken out?
  17. Thank you, I appreciate it. PS do you live in Bournemouth?
  18. WSB2, I've tried what you said about the 2 heater matrix pipes in my other thread (http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=127903) and both the matrix inlet and outlet get hot when the engine's hot. So, it might be this that needs replacing on mine. I really hope not, I'll be in tears if I have to do that to my car............ I'll try some other things first like changing the thermostat. I know it's cheeky, but could you hold off taking it to the dump for another week until I found out if a new 'stat cures my problem please? I'll update you as soon as I know if it's worked or not.

  20. I caught some Dave the other night. Looks OK-ish but mainly Top Gear re-runs that have been round the block many times!
  21. Welcome to the club! Whereabouts in Hants are you?
  22. I've already done that, but thanks for the reminder. I've tried that too, but the coolant barely rose into the bottle, and even when it did it tended to leak out (see first post). Good tip about the steep slope! I'm sure there must be one in Basingstoke somewhere....
  23. Thanks chaps. I'll try jacking the car up and running it on idle. When doing this should I remove the rad cap? I've tried looking for the hoses/pipes going into and out of the matrix, but around the bulkhead the engine bay is a maze of stuff! If I take a photo of my engine bay later, maybe someone would be kind enough to edit the photo to show me where the matrix in/out pipes are.
  24. I changed the coolant in the supe over the weekend. Having filled it with new coolant, the heater in the cabin no longer puts out any warm air, just cold air. I guess it's either an airlock in the matrix or an actual blocked matrix (shudder). Before changing the coolant, the heater used to get warm but not really hot. The coolant temp gauge reads normal under any type of driving (idling, cruising, spirited driving). I've tried squeezing the radiator hoses, but that doesn't seem to have helped. The coolant level in the expansion bottle is going down each day after driving, which I hope is air coming out the system and not a leak! The top rad hose gets hot when the engine is up to temperature, but the bottom hose barely gets warm at all: after driving for about half an hour, I turned off the engine and could hold the bottom hose indefinitely: I know this is the cool return hose, but I would have thought it would be a bit warmer than this. So, what's the best way of removing an airlock from the heater? I've tried the upturned powerade bottle in the rad cap hole, but 1) after idling for 20 mins, the coolant level was hardly increasing up the bottle, and 2) despite my best efforts, coolant leaked out around the bottle/rad interface. I've tried squeezing the hoses. Do I need to drain the coolant back out and re-fill, and hope for the best?
