  1. CW...I'd also like to have a chat with you sometime, but as stated above I'll concentrate on bringing the car up to spec first.
  2. Yeah, but there may be others that are better and cheaper Hmmm. I think I'll leave that subject for now until I've had a chance to speak to more people (like yourself) directly and at length, all I'm doing at the moment is showing my ignorance. Besides, there's still some more upgrading of the car to do before putting the turbo on. What are your thoughts (everybodies) on what would need upgrading on the rest of the car? Doing the brakes now (UK spec) and earlier I mentioned the rear end, if I changed the diff for a TT one I believe the halfshafts would need changing also as NA and TT are different (I think I read that somewhere on supraforums). This next one will make you draw air in through your teeth... My car has no ABS and as I understand it RLTC operates through that system so unless I retro fit ABS there will be no traction control on this car, before you ask, yes I do drive fast but I don't drive foolishly, is there anybody here who also has no TC have any thoughts or input?
  3. DOH! OK, I'm a , I don't know why I didn't think of that. Whats the going rate for a set of them and any particularly recommended brand?
  4. Sorry people but its gonna get a bit more technical now. Done loads more searching and reading, particularly about the squish band. Totally understand what it is and why you need it but in the past threads nothing was actually said about how to maintain a good squish band on an NA motor whilst lowering the compression. If fitting a thicker head gasket screws up the squish band is there some other way of reaching the required compression ratio without fitting one? For instance, are there any aftermarket pistons with dished tops (been looking, but haven't found any yet) and how much are they gonna cost? Or, I was thinking, is there any scope to remove some material from the inside of the compression chamber dome and doing it that way? Obviously being careful to maintain a constant volume across all six cylinders, not just dive in with a die grinder and hope for the best. Any engine head experts here? Digsy?? CW??

  6. I've recently (this week) been doing a bit of research into this. Seen the NA-T kit that you can just bolt onto the standard NA engine which will supposedly get you to 300BHP without running more than 10psi (approx) and if that is what you're looking for then I agree, you might as well buy a TT. I'm more interested in going the "full monte" which will mean injectors, ECU and all that, but its gonna be a long term job starting by making the rest of the car ready first. When I get my brake hoses from Dude (tomorrow ), that'll be the change to UK brakes on Sunday (fingers crossed) then looking into rear axle and seeing what I'll need to do there. Then more research into what to do next.
  7. Yeah, we now it Bobbeh The way I see it is you want big power it doesn't really matter where you start, if you want 600 BHP it gonna cost the same whether its a TT or NA.
  8. Mine went not long after getting the car, about £17 from Mr T (if I remember correct) and 2 minutes to fit.
  9. Obviously an easy target. Happy birthday fella!
  10. That must have been a good night then!! Personally, I tend not to eat after a night out, thats almost garanteed to make me hurl!

  16. Mate, thats a joke. I recently had cambelt, front crankshaft oil seal, plugs, oil and filter, coolant changed and it cost £600 approx all in at a Toyota dealership, now thats probably a bit expensive compared to other places but I was happy with that. It sounds like your place is trying to take the p*ss big style. Tell them to F*ck off. edited for spelling
  17. Front end looks OK. Back end "Ming's" like an extremely minging thing.
  18. It looks to me like the existing tensioner on your car was a standard hydraulic tensioner like the new one that you've purchased, but at some point somebody "modified" it with a nut and bolt for manual adjustment for some reason.

    Check this out

Still enjoyed it though, I'm a bit of a pervert for the old skool japanese motors, good to see there's still some around ever if they have been completely f*cked up.
  20. Come on people, there's got to be more people than this in the area that can make it. Mr T's coming all the way from Surrey for this, that should shame the locals into coming Copy and paste below:- 1) sooper-supra - Graham 2) Laz and KatieC 3) mr lover - gary and geri 4) Lez 5) Mr T
  21. That guy survived, he got jammed in the intake, the only things that went all the way through were his deck helmet, intercom headset and goggles. He was still pretty screwed up though.
