  1. I don't know what things were like when the conservatives were in power because I was too young. I think like me a lot of people just want to send a message that they are unhappy, generally with crime and cost of living. Unfortunately I don't have any confidence that switching to a conservative government will actually change things at all though, but what do you do, just do nothing, or vote out the current party in protest?
  2. It's nice that people seem to be accepting the fact that houses aren't worth what they were valued at. I seem to remember suggesting a loaf of bread wouldn't be worth buying if it was a tenner.. Now even the banks seem to be accepting the fact that their collateral (the houses) for loans is no where near enough in value for the loans that were given. It looks like things are finally sorting themselves out
  3. I didn't mean gay as in homosexual per se. I find Portillo quite respectable. I don't find Cameron remotely respectable. He's not exactly a tower of power is he.
  4. I just want an English government to look after us English people and maybe think about helping others with spare cash, but I don't want them to require spare cash. Basically I want a lower cost of living. I really think that there is too much wastage and that a lower cost of living could be had if money wasn't spent in unnecessary ways. Whoever had those same ambitions would get my vote, whatever the party. I can't help thinking Mr Conservative looks like a gay pussy wimp though - not exactly confidence inspiring. Are my wishes just 'typically selfish and impossible', or what?
  5. Maybe you're referring to the famous "Supra vs Hayabusa" video? It wasn't a stock Supra. Might not have been a stock 'busa either, and it's from a 70mph rolling start. WUwPBNrunYk Search for "Walser Supra".
  6. Nobody seemed to pick up on this! I had read about modafinil and adrafinil years ago when I was playing with nootropics, but I always try to avoid stimulants because I feel I am never too far away from anxiety and jitters. Since the mornings have lost their daylight, I have think I have become aware of what can only be winter depression, and a general lack of motivation or willingness to do much during the day. I am probably getting about a third of what I should/could get done in a day, just because I can (I can make excuses, put jobs off etc.). I ordered some modafinil last week, after seeing your post. I'll see how I do on 50mg at a time. Dave Pearce's research doesn't seem to highlight any obvious concerns: http://www.modafinil.com/ , and this sounds interesting: http://www.modafinil.com/article/index.html Cheers
  7. Are you trying to say that you have bought a new auto gearbox and torque converter, because your existing ones are on their way out, and you are wondering if anybody knows where you could get your broken ones reconditioned so that you can sell them on?

    "lotda tab" ?

I am fully prepared to lose it

    "lotda tab" ?

gnutrade looks interesting http://www.gnutrade.com err, no it doesn't. I can't figure it out, but it just seems to be for indices rather than individual shares, from what I can see.

    "lotda tab" ?

They're low again - 79.9p. There's interesting chat on lse.co.uk , but their site has just gone unavailable: http://www.lse.co.uk/ShareChat.asp?page=1&ShareTicker=RBS

    "lotda tab" ?

I'm certain it said 1.04p , not 104.x p Or is that just how they write it when there's no tenths of pennies?

    "lotda tab" ?

When the market opened just now, Barclays Stockbroker was stating: Sell 96p, Buy 1.04p What does that mean then? Does it just mean nobody wanted to buy shares back off me in case I had any, until the market had some idea of trading prices, or does it mean I could have bought shitloads @1p each?

    "lotda tab" ?

That makes sense, and my interest is only perked for the same reason - value. They just seems so cheap/undervalued, but as you say it's a risk. What other parts of the financial sector do you have in mind? This is all new to me, but it's interesting all the same.

    "lotda tab" ?

They were 78.5p a minute ago. I said I'd buy when/if they dropped to 80p. I watched for most of yesterday and they didn't much go below 88p. I didn't buy just now anyway, but it's exciting to watch all the same Some are saying today could be a bad day for RBS shares.

    "lotda tab" ?

That could be it. Maybe she has a touchscreen Windows Mobile phone Thanks. I was thinking how she could possibly have done it on a normal phone.

    "lotda tab" ?

I asked somebody (txt msg) if she thought it was a good idea for me to buy £500 of RBS shares, since they were at 90p each, and she said "not sure. I think lotda tab might be better? But canlt be sure". Didn't want to pursue the question further as I felt cheeky asking for free advice, and she's on a day out somewhere. So, bearing in mind she was probably using predictive-text on her mobile, what do you think "lotda tab" is supposed to mean? Lloyds TSB ?
  17. That looks really good, and it's not got Windows Mobile on it which is great. Only problem might be the optical pointing device. I had a play on a WM Samsung phone with one of those the other day and found it tough to use.. it's too grippy on the finger.
  18. You tell 'em Jake Y'know how we have talked about a "Similar posts" thing, and I think we might actually have that already, well what about a "sane post" checker? It could compare number of words vs number of commas and full-stops. It could also point out full-stops that aren't followed by capital letters, and maybe even a blacklist of words like "b4, m8, l8r, l8tr, innit" etc. Top club idea? Feelings wouldn't be hurt if it was just a computer telling them they were lazy/stupid/whatever.
  19. I don't get it. Why isn't F4STT already gone, and why's it only £999? I'm tempted to buy it, and wondering if I'm being daft mentioning it in public, or if I'm just totally missing something ..

    Icesave

No, but it was one of Martin Lewis's favourites for drip-feeding wasn't it? Supposedly protected by the Iceland equivalent of our £35k whatsit. Doesn't sound good. We just need house prices to half/third, and land prices accordingly, then the market will be good again and I might buy a house Cheap house prices and cheap fuel will surely make everything good again? Surely all this crap is caused by just those two things being so unrealistically high?
  21. but what about an emulator? Like an emulated engine that you can run off the emulated ECU, where you can hear and see it wobble/nearly stall, monitor sensors, watch power increase, pistons melt, etc. ?
  22. My tariff is O2 Simplicity "Online 25", so I guess it's a buy-online thing. Here it is, you can change the web browsing to unlimited landline calls etc: http://shop.o2.co.uk/tariffs/sim_only It doesn't say that you get 1000 texts, but if you change the Unlimited Texts bolt-on to something else, like web browsing or unlimited landline calls, then you'll see on the next step (after "Select tariff") that you still have 1000 texts after changing the unlimited texts bolt-on to something else.
  23. You can choose which "bolt-on" you have included for free as well. Doesn't have to be unlimited web browsing, can be another £7.50 bolt-on.
  24. I have been in this exact situation. We paid for insurance for Amanda on the Supra, which is covered on a fleet policy for me. They wouldn't do it and they voided the insurance. We ended up just keeping her fully comp insurance on her old BMW, which gave her third-party only insurance on the Supra.
