  1. Ok guys well I just dug out the Thor FCD.. after reading about the Warnings regarding the free-fcd on mkiv.com. Gonna fit tomorrow but I'll need to pick up some posh connectors first as I like to do things nicely night all x
  2. That brings back memories. Very humorous too. I wonder how Dude is getting along. Seems like ages ago but it's only been like two months.
  3. Allrightythen! I'm over at mkiv.com now looking at how I diable boost-cut by blocking the MAP/MAF sensor or whatever...
  4. I know, I was just saying to Migster that I think that might be why no-one has done it to a Supra - because it's not straightforward like it is on a V-engine/parallel-turbo setup.
  5. I'm going to do a hardcore car-clean on Saturday. It'll be the first moment I've had to do it. Just watch my luck - it'll be dark and wet on Saturday.
  6. Could the problem be that I'm carrying too much weight? http://www.uk2sucks.net/inside/1.JPG http://www.uk2sucks.net/inside/2.JPG http://www.uk2sucks.net/inside/3.JPG
  7. I'm not exactly 'well below 1.0 bar'. I have got the nack of lifting off to 13.5 psi, which is 0.93bar.. not that much different is it? I think I'll plumb up the MAP (or is it MAF?) sensor tomorrow.. anyone know of any howtos for doing it?
  8. Plumbing too difficult? Remember we have a seq. twin turbo.. that audi will have parallel turbos so one intercooler per turbo would be easy on that.
  9. I'd never heard of it! Wasn't sure if you had before either
  10. Well apparently I can just block off the MAP.. or MAF sensor, since the car's a UK spec. Should be more straight-forward and easily reversible.
  11. Twin side-mount intercoolers? Now where've I heard that before (migster ) http://www.rsportscars.com/foto/08/rs602_engine.jpg
  12. I realise that sounds like a bit of a contradiction to my initial post, but the point is that I don't want a car that's shit slow until 40mph. I want to add power at the top end but I don't want to lose it at the bottom end.
  13. Well, I don't often go above 4krpm whilst doing daily miles through towns and stuff. I'd feel more benefit from the 2k - 4k power than anything above 4k. Lots of stop-start driving, and going above 4k tends to mean i'm flying up to 60mph which I try to refrain from doing in 30 - 40mph zones
  14. nah. If it wasn't for fear of catching on speedbumps, I'd keep it down all the time! My car is a daily driver though and I do work miles every day.
  15. Two reasons.. firstly, I'm auto. No single is gonna feel 'right' with an auto I think.. except maybe a 57 but even then it'll be shit compared to twins when below 4krpm. Secondly, 'cause I was thinking in the £600 price mark. Hybrid-ise one of the turbos, or fit an FMIC.. £600 should cover either of those.
  16. Has anybody tried messing around with the mounts and having it a touch higher up or something though?
  17. Oh yeah I know I could keep it down all the time.. do the mod, but I'm thinking there must be a way to route all the gubbins in there with the active spoiler just working normally..
  18. Ah. That's that idea gone then! Thanks for explaining it Alex. Any thoughts on the FMIC.. I wonder if it'd be possible to botch it so I could keep my active spoiler.
  19. I'm not particularly talking about the new rs4, but even so, they're only ~400bhp, so not totally out of a bpu+ Supras league. The RS6 is the big turbocharged V8 though isn't it.. mental. Anyway, lets cut the Audi chat. I was hoping for some discussion on FMICs & modified stock turbos
  20. Lets hope we can get some good replies then!!
  21. I need more power. Those hot Audis are a bit of a problem for me. I had an RS6 Avant (I think it was a 6 - it was an estate, definately an RS-something, and I couldn't pull away from it), and a T-reg yellow saloon which I couldn't pull away from. My car is a fully 3" decatted UK spec auto with an RS*R GT2, hitting 17.5psi absolute max, more routinely 16psi. I have still not fitted my Thor FCD (or removed the MAP sensor), so I have to lift off slightly after ~1.5 sec of >15psi boost alarm. My IC (stock side-mount) is in pretty reasonable condition and I always run with either BP SUL or Optimax. Car feels fast. I'm tempted to go down the FMIC route, even though I have read the discussions about no benefit. I'm leaning towards believing those who actually have FMICs fitted though, who say they have noticed significant benefits. I'm slightly weary that the FMIC adds much more area to become pressurised though, so surely increases time to positive boost. Does it? Or.. Hybrid. (singular..). Has anybody ever gone for a half-hybrid setup, keeping no1 turbo stock (or even changing it to a J-spec ceramic!), and replacing the internals of no2 with a high-end hybrid? I don't want to loose anything on the low end, but I want to gain while at full chat. Any thoughts people?
  22. It's not that Norton works really well, it's just that AVG works terribly badly. Norton might well catch viruses, but it's also extremely bloated. It interferes with your general ability to use the computer, and has some pretty hefty overheads. People are generally so amazed at how much more quickly their computer boots up when I remove Norton or McAfee and install nod.
  23. yep this is the one. fackin' sexy. seriously mean: http://www.channel4.com/4car/gallery/A/aston-martin/vantage-desert_page_16.html
