  1. Oh dear now that made perfect sense to me lol:p
  2. just out of interest try an online new quote and ensure that the model is correct one on the quote and come back to us. I only say this as I asked and was assured that I was insured as a mk4 on 2 occasions other than at my renewal and it turns out now that I wasn't. Tesco's quoting pc didn't used to have my model on it so they just used the closest thing which was a mk3. give it a try and see what it says.
  3. Get that quote from tescos and input your proper model code ie sz na import and I guarantee you it will be almost double that amount chap. Tesco's use the same rego quoting system as that other place you got a quote from and that is almost definitely for a mk3. I have had this problem with tesco's myself and at the third attempt finally got my car actually insured as opposed to just having an insurance certificate with my reg on.
  4. I am being hugely thick here but I just don't get it. Are you suggesting that there is oil on the roundabout or have I completely missed the joke???
  5. An N/A thats been on the road in say the last 12 months
  6. Oh:( I have fitted UK brakes to the front only on my N/A. Without the aid of ABS have I unwittingly made my car dangerous in the wet???
  7. Was open last Friday. It should be OK the Mrs is an old freind of the bar manager there.
  8. Me too depends on how much drool I get on my seats lol:eek:
  9. Right what time is this happening at and are there any plans to hitch up with the Basingstoke lot that are having a meet same day but in the evening?
  10. Do a search there are 2 TT aero's coming into the country via someone on this forum must be due in any day now.
  11. I never had any problems with my J-spec brakes but then again i had a 112 limiter so I probably wouldn't have had. But before I went for more power and removed the limiter I changed to UK fronts. I would say more for the confidence factor than anything else. Also its nice to have shiny new brakes on a 10 year old car.
  12. Ah but you had a little more than a same colour touch in spray job
  13. plus they are mates That will be why its cheap then. You will only be paying for the paint really at that price.
  14. Yeah but the guy may do very minimal rubbing back and just slap a fresh coat of paint on then laquer it. It will loook all new an shiny but will show up the stone chips etc that were there before. That said there is an old boy that does this osrt of stuff as a hobby and he is doing the entire side of my car where it was keyed years ago and just sprayed not filled for £250 I think he is charging me £50 labour for rubbing it back and filling the keymarks and taking out all my stone chips on that side.
  15. What about indecent material like razzle or knave?? Very cheap I hear:p I guess if ya just want a single coat of primer and a single coat of paint with a single coat of laquer then that wouldn't be quite so expensive but to do the job proper style then its more money. Depends on if you intend on keeping the car for eons or just make it look OK to flog!
  16. OK well I will bow to those words of wisdom and not fill then!!
  17. Yeah but the cost of the materials is pretty much of a muchness these days north or south. So unless the guy is doing the job for a pigeon and a half share in a whippet £95 is in the grand scheme of things quite cheap.
  18. Ah OK Hmmm to fill or not to fill then this is the question. Well I won't do it till after my engine change then at least lol.
  19. BTT maybe dude can answer this as he probably fitted more of them than i had hot dinners etc lol
  20. why would an adequately sized fibreglass backing piece come away?/ surely if anything it would lend stiffness to that whole area?? And by sanding back the immediatte area around the holes you can key a couple of coats of resin into it hirsute creating a gel coat style top coat instead of filler. Would that not be harder than a hard thing??
  21. Like someone said a fibreglass sheet across the back and then either (when its dry obviously) fill the recess you should have with plastic bumper style filler or use the resin that comes with the fibreglass kit and build it up untill its past flush then sand it back for a rock hard finish. The resin should only take 15 minutes to dry (mine went solid this weekend in less than 2 minutes which caught me out a bit)
  22. Tesco's quote same price for both import and non-import at the mo and the same for N/A and TT.
  23. They must just have a mystery output machine!!! That or you are insured as a mk3. Don't laff that off cos despite asking tesco's on numerous occasions thats what it eventually turned out I had been insured as for 2 years! These mega cheap policies are cheap for a reason dood and that was the reason mine was so cheap. When they inputted my correct model it was nearly double the premium.
  24. The car I have coming on Friday is a manual TT so as well as doing a TT transplant I am now resigned to going manual (oh the sheer hardship lol)
  25. Sounds good to me as I reckon I would have a nightmare trying to insure the only manual TT aero in the country that used to be an auto N/A. Incidentally what would you insure a motor like that for with a total custom alcantara interior? I have timed the transplant to coincide with our insurance renewal. I was tempted to just say it is a TT and not mention the N/A part.
