Hi guys, I am in the process of gathering parts to update the interior in my Supra and looking at seat options. Thinking of buying a set of Recaro speeds from Whifbitz but not sure what else is out there, so open to suggestion. Looking for a set that are as a subtle as possible that could pass for OEM ideally. Subtle red stitching a bonus as it would match the other goodies I have bought to install (wheel, gaitors, mats). Anything has to be better than the standard cloth seats. They are some of the least comfortable seats I have ever encountered! If you could post some pics of your seats I would value the input.

Hi guys, enjoyed meeting and chatting with you last night. Thanks for being so welcoming. Will definitely join you for the next meet, prior commitments notwithstanding. Will arrive earlier next time so I can have more time to chat and have a proper nosey at your cars. Hopefully will be in the Supra rather than the MR2.

The Supra has mostly been in the workshop since I bought it. Firstly for suspension geo (which was waaaay out) and the bonnet adjusting. Latterly for diff seals and bushes. The parts were ordered last week from Whifbitz but on a two week lead time so just left her at the workshop for now. It’s a very clean and sorted car for the most part, but unfortunately both of these issues have rendered it pretty much undrivable until they’re sorted. Fortunately I have been able to enjoy a few nice sunshine runs in the MR2 in the meantime.

She sure is, a MK2 REV3 Turbo. I absolutely adore it. I am gratfeul to have this to play with in the sunshine whilst I wait for the Supra to be sorted out.

What can I say, I hate to be late. Though I must admit, being one week early is a but much even for me... Any excuse to get the MR2 out on a sunny day can't be bad. I can confirm that they have a great IPA on tap and there was ample parking, so consider it a scouting mission. You're welcome.

Ha - what a spanner, just checked the post more closely and realise I put the meet in the wrong date on my calendar at home! Oh well, still got to have a nice drive out and half a pint in the sun...

Been camped out here for twenty mins - am I in the wrong place or just a bit keen for time?! Definitely at the Blacksmiths Arms in Macc!

Sorry, realise I’ve been absent from this thread since posting a few weeks back. The Supra is back in my mate’s workshop as it needs new seals and bushes on the diff, so I’ll be bringing the red rocket instead.

Welcome and good luck on your search. I love the CRX. I want to add a fast Honda to my garage and torn between a DC Integra or a CRX.

group buy S2000 Stubby Conversion Kit
James Junior replied to supra steveo's topic in Parts for Sale
Same, interested if this group buy is still running. -
I recently had this problem. I thought changing the battery would sort it, but I still had all the lights on the dash whilst the engine was running. Turned out to be a faulty alternator. Been fine since that was replaced. Good luck getting it sorted.

Hi guys, I am on the lookout for a set of Recaro Speed seats and seat-frames if anyone has a used set they are looking to move on. Also looking for a brake upgrade up front. Currently interested in a K-Sport or UK spec set up, discs and calipers. If going the U.K. route would prefer to do front and rear if possible. If nothing presents itself I will just buy the seats, seat-rails and K-Sport brake set up new later this year. In the meantime however would be interested in a used set if anyone is looking to sell and would like to deal with another forum member. Regards James

Hi chaps, I couldn't make last month but keen to get involved this time around. I am working Sheffield all day, but should be able to head over afterwards and meet you. How about the Pointing Dog in Cheadle Hulme as a venue? We often go there for Sunday lunch and it's pretty good. Lot's of space inside and out if the sun is shinging, plus a fairly big car park.

Hi guys, just wanted to say this thread has been a life saver. I am also buying some Japan Racing wheels and was fretting over what offset to go for, to clear bigger brakes at the front and sit flush, without the need to modify the arches. ET25 fronts and ET40 rears it is!

SPEEDING - BEEN LUCKY FOR 15 YEARS - BUT no MORE.
James Junior replied to herbiemercman's topic in Supra Chat
I was discussing the article below with some pals earlier this week. I would suggest against a laser jammer! https://www.driving.co.uk/news/jail-range-rover-sport-driver-used-laser-jammer-gave-cameras-middle-finger/ -
SPEEDING - BEEN LUCKY FOR 15 YEARS - BUT no MORE.
James Junior replied to herbiemercman's topic in Supra Chat
I got caught by a mobile van on Snake Pass in Feb 2015 in my Z4 Coupe. There is a long straight just along from the Ladybower and I was carrying speed when I suddenly noticed the mobile van. Like you, rather than slam on to try and scrub off speed and potentially create a situation, I just took it full bore. Unfortunately when the NIP came it transpired they had done me at 81mph. I then realised the seriousness as Snake Pass is a 50mph zone these days and not national. It has been so for a while now in all fairness. I don't believe it was dangerous given the road, visibility and conditions, but was clearly very much illegal. I was 'invited' to Derbyshire court and turned up early, suited and booted and with a detailed and respectful witness statement and a dossier full docs I felt were relevant. Clean license, proof of max NCB, proof of NCB on second car, recent MOT and full service receipt with clean bill of health (just to demonstrate I properly maintain my cars), a client testimonial talking about my integrity (received prior to the incident) and a weather report for the day (it was dry and sunny). I was the first person at the courtroom, but unfortuately as my surname is a 'W' I was almost at the end of the list (like being back at school!). As I was early however they saw me first. The judge was hardly impressed but gave me five points and a fine which I thought was very reasonable. When I came out of the court room other people were arriving. Most were dressed in trackies and trainers and a number were pretending they didn't speak English to the court clerk. It's only a simple thing, but I think showing proper respect is a good start... It had a big effect on me and made me much more aware of my speed on back roads. I was glad this year when February came around as within another twelve months it would be off my license and I could put it behind me... Unfortunately I may be in hot water again however. I picked my Supra TT up from Falmouth last week on Wednesday and drove it back to Manchester. The journey home was miserable. Miles of 50mph average speed zones. Multiple variable speed zones, which despite the lack of traffic, seemed to be randomly switching between 40, 50, 60 and national. There was even a stretch of 30mph average speed zone on the motorway at Birmingham. After a long journey I then found that the M6 was closed entirely at Stafford and four lanes of traffic were condensed into one lane for miles and mile and miles. Gridlock. Finally the entire motorway was diverted through Stafford town centre to rejoin the M6 further up. I was stuck in that for hours. Then was 30 miles of 50mph speed zone leading up to Knutsford. An unfamiliar 400bhp Supra with no cruise control does not make for an easy companion through so many average speed zones. I was wary in the 50 zones as I wasn't used to the car and found myself being tailgated or overtaken by impatient artics at points. By the time I was almost home to Manchester it was 2am. They have added a new 50mph average speed zone to the M56 near the airport in the last week or two (I now realise). Unfortunately I missed the initial 50mph sign and there was no other traffic around me to use as a compator, so it was approaching the second set of cameras that I realised it wasn't national and that I was still carrying motorway speeds in a 50. I have been under a cloud since last week worrying about it and still am. It was a completely honest mistake on a deserted motorway, but if my speed was in the seventies it is likely to be a court appearance by default. Although my prior offence is no longer valid as three years have passed, it is still on my record, so I cannot imagine a judge being sanguine in this event. Time will tell. -
Advice on 18" staggered wheel and tyre set up
James Junior replied to James Junior's topic in Supra Chat
Thanks Kitch, that is really useful. Did you have UK spec or uprated brakes on the front? -

Advice on 18" staggered wheel and tyre set up
James Junior replied to James Junior's topic in Supra Chat
Thanks Scooter, that's really useful. I am not looking for anything daft in terms of width and don't want to start messing around with modifying the arches. Just want something that fills the arches better as the current wheels are very recessed, whilst still delivering a good drive. I am thinking of a set of Japan Racing wheels as I put a set on the MR2 and really pleased with them. I know Volks are the superior wheel and are likely to be lighter, but I am not too hung up on unsprung weight, as whilst I like to drive my cars properly, I won't exactly be chasing lap records. I think it will be between JR18s and JR25s. Toying with whether to go bronze with red calipers, or silver with yellow. I just did a search under 'Supra JR18' and 'Supra JR25' and by strange providence a load of high quality images of a black Supra wearing these wheels comes up. It looks as though another Supra owner with good photoshop skills has already been pondering the same choice. Visualising what the wheels will actually look like on your car is usually a bit of a leap of faith, so this is massively helpful, especially as it is the same colour as my car. If any other members are running staggered 18s and would be kind enough to post details of their set ups and some pics that would be useful. -
Hi guys, After a few months of searching I am now happy to confirm I am a Supra owner. I picked up a 6spd manual TT last week. The car is a pre-facelift so not quite what I set out to buy, but it was just too good a car to pass up. I'll post some proper pictures and information once I have had chance to give it a proper detail...which may be sometime in 2021 if the weather continues like this... I already have a list of changes I would like to make and first up is to change the wheels and tyres. The car currently wears an immaculate set of staggered Volk wheels, with 18s up front and 17s at the rear. They look great on the car, very subtle and classy. However, I want to go to 18" wheels all round with a staggered fitment. I am sure many of you have gone down the same route, so can anyone recommend what width and offset I should be looking at to preserve similar handling characteristics to stock, whilst filling the arches nicely without the need for spacers? The car is fitted with BC adjustable coilovers and I would also like to fit a set of larger K-Sport calipers to the front in time, so looking for something that can also accommodate this set up too. Also what tyre sizes are people running with this set up to keep the overall rolling radius in keeping with stock? I will be investing in a set of Michelin Pilot Sports to go with the new wheels so keen to get an idea of what I need so I can price everything up. In the meantime here is a pic of the car as it is currently:

Hi guys, sorry to be a fair weather fairy but I think given the conditions I will wait until the next meet in June to come and meet you all. It is absolutely chucking it down here in Staly! I was hoping to bring my Supra (oh year, did I mention I bought a TT 6spd last week?!), but I have had to leave it at my pal's garage so he can properly calibrate the suspension. The previous owner fitted new coilovers and suspension arms which have now had time to settle, so the car now needs a full geo as it is all over the road at the minute with the steering well off centre. This means I am without the car until later this week unfortunately. The MR2 meanwhile is sat in the garage all polished up ready for JapFest, so would rather not get her out in this weather! Hope you enjoy a nice steak and glass of red at M&C. I look forward to getting your informed eyes on the car next time around.
