  1. Yeah, someone has had a little 'contretemps' with my motor I've noticed - some very small (but noticeable to me) abrasions on the front bumper - genius positioning of the number plate seems to have resulted in the 'plate actually taking the brunt of the assault - I might take it to a bodyshop first though
  2. And Torque IC can supply it? Sweet! I'll scrape some funds together and hopefully buy one next month. Cheers
  3. What kind of options do I have, regarding exhaust loud back boxes? I've got an N/A, it's lovely and quick to drive (no snickering children) and everything is perfect, apart from the fact that it's quieter than a dead dormouse. I'd really like to fit the one with the removable baffle (Nurspec??) but I'm not sure if it'll like my non-turbo car. As far as I can make out, the Hiper is the only option - is this the case?
  4. Let us know how you get on with it! I'm contemplating getting my local Toy Yoda garage flush mine - as I have the mechanical knowledge of a freshly-salted slug...
  5. Can't you buy a big tub of synth oil from Torque IC and get them to use that instead?
  6. Also, how much is the service gonna cost ya? I wonder if my local Toyota garage will be okay with mine...
  7. Thanks for the speedy response! I'll go to Homebase and see what they've got in the toys department. Don't you ever leave this list!
  8. Went to my mate's house to get his rubber blocks off his Supra (mine just unscrewed with brute force!) but his are really locked in tight. What kind of soldering iron is best? Gas or electric? His one is a bit old (electric) and didn't even start to heat the screw up in the 20 minutes I held it onto screw 1. Help please! Prepared to buy a new soldering iron if needs be.
  9. It's manual. Got 1 years' (fairly comprehensive) warranty on it. Never have those words sounded so sweet
  10. Oops. No, it doesn't do it unless the revs are +5,500rpm, no matter what gear or speed you are doing. Does not do it in neutral.
  11. Going to join the A14, I decided to plant my foot down in 2nd, and at about 5,500 rpm and upwards, there is a juddering nasty noise from the front passenger side. Believe it or not, despite having the car for well over a month, this is the first time I'd got this close to the rev limiter! The power band seems optimum at around 4,000 - 5,000, but I digress... I tried it a few more times down nearer home, and it did it at 5,500rpm again. Then I parked it up and revved it in neutral and hey presto, it's clear all the way to redline with no noise. There is something in my head that says "Wheel bearing" but what are the professionals' opinions? I know nothing about cars, so please educate me! (Edited by Flipfinger at 8:01 pm on Oct. 4, 2001)
  12. Oh God.......you're all willing my car into a lamp post now or something LOL If I stuff it, I stuff it, and I eat my words. Worse things happen at sea....
  13. Oh, I can see why people like the Ring Master have got them - that bloke's a nutter! The exhaust note on his 'runaround' (banana Evo) was enough to start boring into my head......
  14. Cutting power via the throttle is pretty much the only way you'll get the back to snap back into place if you're holding a RWD slide anyway, so the traction control is right in that respect. The Supra is a funny beast to drive, other cars seem reliant more on weight shifting to get the tail out, but due to the light back end (plastic bumper, anyone?). huge amounts of torque through the back wheels and massive, heavy power plant in the front, it's going to be unstable in the wet. Drive like a pansy in the wet, drive harder in the dry. I get Micra drivers racing past me in the wet, but it's better than (a) tw*tting your car into the kerb or worse, and (b) trusting in some fancy electronics to do the job your bottom was invented for - reading the drift!
  15. I've been inspired by Darren's last thread......I noticed last night that if you switch the heater up to the windscreen, it *automatically* starts the air conditioning. I barely ever use the air-con (force of habit but also cos of the fuel economy) and just wanted the already warm, normal heater air pointed at the windscreen. How do I switch this annoying 'feature' off? Obviously at the moment I'm just pressing the air-con button to switch it off... Yours, Mr. A Retentive
  16. I don't know, but if my car was in America I'm sure it'd do around 300mph and have at least 50bhp more than it does here....
  17. Mine does a very similar thing from cold - in neutral with the clutch up it makes a small sound, when you put the clutch down it sounds like the revs drop off a bit. The manual gearboxes are notoriously notchy and noisy, I remember reading.....
  18. Right, found Pete Betts' lovely schematic. Now all I need to do is decipher it. Ignore this thread!
  19. I thought what with 70 being a fair bit smaller than 120 it was a different prob! Will read up.
  20. Okay, I think a similar thread *might* have been opened on this, but it was much too technical for me to understand. My cruise control doesn't work over 70mph. In fact, I can't get it to work much over 65mph. What can I do to change this for when I go to Germany (because obviously I wouldn't DREAM of doing over 70 on the UK highways)?

    Oil

I bought a big bottle from Shop! and it's fantastic stuff - heartily recommend it to anyone.
  22. Muchos apologias, problemas technicas I'm also thinking of going the decat route - mine is a 93 and therefore it's not mandatory for the MOT to put them back on. What's the best route to go for an N/A? I've seen the loud cat-back exhaust in Shop!, but that'll only make the sound better, not make it go faster. Oops, I've hijacked the thread. Erm, how about nitrous Paul hehe.
  23. Bought mine from NMG - new fronts AND rears.....mmm, nice
  24. I've just had a look at it in the light of day (it was dark at about 7am today!) and it's not as bad as I thought. Still, I know it's there!
