  1. Sorry, another related question - will standard shocks work with lowering springs? I'm still just seeking to lower the car so that it has a more attractive slightly nose down stance without adversely affecting ride quality and... importantly not spending a fortune in relation to the value of the car and its intended (road only) use. I don't need to be able to adjust the height or damper settings, as long as they are right in the first place.
  2. I caught a glimpse of another white one passing Horsell Common this afternoon - but wheels were black.
  3. The price from CW for a full set of new shocks and lowering springs is circa £950 including VAT. I must admit fitting used parts (e-bay ad) of this nature is a bit of a gamble. This still makes the 'coilover' route look attractive - but I have no idea on the ride quality.
  4. Thank for the advice chaps, I have e-mailed Chris. I must admit, it seems more complex than I was expecting at the outset. The cost of staying with something close to the original specification is still surprising if not entirely unexpected.
  5. Who is Chris & where do I find his e-mail address please?
  6. My aim is to change the suspension heights, front and rear so that the car does not have the 'nose up' stance. I don't want to introduce more stiffness, harshness or noise if I can help it. I don't want to spend more than a few hundred pounds. So, are we saying that (for comfort) it's better to buy lowering springs and keep/fit OEM shocks?
  7. Thanks - I can see how it is a common route. You are looking at £699 vs £566 at list prices. I thought it would be easier to buy a used set for say; half those figures, than it turns out.
  8. I would like to replace the suspension on my 93 N/A for road use only. It looks to have replacement shocks on the front but otherwise looks original. Hence, the car sits at the usual unattractive ride height and the rear shocks look rough although they seem to perform OK. If I look at lowering springs and two rear shocks I think I am close in price to a new set of adjustable coilovers. I am thinking HSD DualTech. Should I keep looking for a used adjustable setup? - haven't seen much that's suitable and prices are not hugely different to the new price for the HSD. Should I just order the HSD? Something else?

I don't want out to see an end to immigration. I do want to see an end to a system that means that we get a whole bunch of people except the ones we want.
  10. Looking for a 'perfect' one thanks.

I think that if your food industry is reliant on it's government promoting it in order to grow it's sales it needs to question it's products. I think you may be overestimating what any government would do in that regard. We mostly get on in spite them.
  13. OK, I have done the job with some Meccano! The interior of the console is a bit dirtier than I thought. 'still mucky even after a lot of elbow grease. Mind you - the lid works!
  14. Best £7.99 I have spent (at Bobby Dyas) lately. Got them out in 5 minutes flat with 20 -30 seconds heating. Thanks also to the rest of the forum for excellent advice!

    Welcome! Sounds like fun.
  16. Thanks guys! The L shaped bit is busted so needs something to retain the metal rods. Its tempting to think there is a fix but probably involves removing the console and it may then easier to just replace the whole thing. And yes - it does need a bit of a clean afterwards!
  17. One hinge on the centre console lid has failed. Has anyone done a repair like this? See pic. Cheers, M.
  18. As above. Wish I could find someone around here to do that for a reasonable price!
  19. Sorry If I've missed this - where are you in the UK?
  20. There's a ton of stuff on how to do this - search for headlight refurbishment etc
  21. Great look and write-up. Congratulations! May I ask who refurbished your seats?
  22. Thanks Juvett. I don't want to think about the cost of the wheels, less still give the missus an inkling The rest of it so far has been basic stuff. I did buy the complete OEM exhaust system used for £20 - bargain! It had been in a garage for donkey's years. Still hoping for some advice on the suspension. Planning on visiting JD Motorsport in Leatherhead as they seem to stock the Tein setup that I see mentioned often. Parts are circa £450 and that's a basic package. I'm concerned that maybe I should go for higher quality.
  23. Now with a set of BBS LMP 18x8 and 18x9. Continentals on all four. Many hours spent disassembling, stripping & cleaning. I had them repainted in an anthracite colour. It came out a bit darker than I intended. More hours putting them back together with new bolts and valves with the centres reversed to give a bit more offset. You'll see from the pic that that ride height is still 'stock'. Readers, she rides with all the comfort of a Roman chariot on the Appian way. I must replace the suspension! Since I have to replace the rear shocks and springs all round I'm guessing some kind of adjustable coilover set up is the way to go. I know the subject's been done to death on the forums but I'm open to suggestions for a set up that will lower the height at the front and give a comfortable ride on the hideous roads hereabouts. Oh, by the way, I also replaced the exhaust system that was shot, the gas struts on the tailgate and cleaned up the headlights as best I could. 'Plenty more jobs on the list.....
  24. I ordered a Toyota blank on a well known auction site from a US supplier. Mr Timpson cut it for a donation to charity!!
