Seems to be warmish one second then normal cool outside temp the next...!

Same it's still not bled properly I don't think.. Right pain in the tits half tempted to give up and take it to a garage, heaters now blowing hot and cold.. So probably still an airlock.. Now it's misfiring again too think I've dribbled water into the plug bores again.. Gonna have to dry it all out and WD40 everything grrrr never known such an awkward cooling system!

Haha thanks.. Scrubbing was definitely needed too..!! After a good jet wash of the underside and arches can you see the light grey dirt smear all the way down the drive by the bushes? That's after copious amounts of brushing and hosing down it's still there!! It's like fine sand! Still it's nice to wake up and see this outside the window it's certainly a project but I'm loving it.. Looks completely different already and I've only had it a few weeks! My pikey flushing and rad purging brought out a whole load of like thick black sand out of the cooling system.. Kept on blasting it until it went from dark orange crud infested waters to clear Garden hose is the yellow pipe and the green was a spare part acting as a waste chute into the buckets This was after it started to run clear but it took about 6 buckets to get to that stage!! Definitely something I would highly recommend doing anyway!

with the amount of thick crap that came out of it I would put money on it being the cause!! I would imagine that the flush has probably cured it too.. I ran a whole load of water through until it started coming out completely clear with absolutely no sludge.. if this has worked il post up because the heater matrix would be an arse to get to..!! if this works then people may want to copy it or copy it anyway.. would be a good preventative measure

Basically what I've done... Replaced thermostat, seal, rad cap for an oem item ran some rad flush and tried to rebleed it.. No joy today heaters still cold tried refilling from the rad with a funnel in it and front elevated with some revs.. No bubbles appearing out the radcap after some squeezing of pipes.. dropped it down (still running) car sitting on the idle top pipe warm bottom pipe cold.. Took it for a quick spin.. Bottom pipe warm top pipe hot.. Heaters still cold.. No sign of overheating temp needle sat bang in the middle..after the car was off it didnt boil over either.. however... Just before the light went completely I may have found a problem.. I attached my garden hose to the in and out pipes from the heater matrix.. Yellow is the garden hose with water flowing in green is just a spare bit which is the drainage hose Which goes into a bucket like this.. First few buckets came out dark orange with grainy sandy sludge in the bottom of it... Kept changing the water buckets till they appeared clear from colour and sand... Could this of been the problem all the while! :-/

Still can't seem to get it to bleed properly.. Heaters blow cold and i don't think the new stat is opening.. Grrrr

Thanks bud, just got to spend a lot of time on the little things too with this car.. I'm going to clear the wheel arches out at some point soon.. Clean everything down spray the plastics and bolts + wire brush + waxoyl the components Will be waxoyling the whole underside soon too when I have got rid of all the crap!! I did lift the nose up and fill from the rad before and it worked.. This time did the same and airlock again.. I may buy a copper T piece insert it in the rear top coolant pipes at the back of the engine and at the top of the T jubilee the garden hose to it and pressure fill it with the hose.. That should in theory push all the air round the system and out the rad cap? Here's hoping anyway!

Cheers guys... Still having issues bleeding the cooling system.. Fixed it the other day and put some rad flush in it to make sure its all cleared drove it.. Dropped it all out again topped it up today only to create another air lock and it turned into a big supra kettle again!! Going to try filling it from the rear pipes and see of that does it So more pissing around tomorrow! Fitted the front brakes today rears tomorrow as well

Today I have given the calipers another lick of paint and gave the interior a really good clean down.. I also painted the underside of the spare wheel well in matt black stove paint which il get some pics of at some stage... Here is how the dash shine works see 50/50 on the bottom seal.. Then used some of this on the rear leathers A quick 50/50 again..

WD40 to start off and then some turtle wax dash shine aerosol stuff.. works really well on rubbers and seals etc..!

Cheers guys the standard system will go back on as soon as I get a new filter... The old one just like everything else was completely minging !! New plugs fitted now, new stat and rad cap.. All that was left was to bleed the system so after setting about doing that Some jap friends came over to play

That's it lol aside from asking me to rev it a few times to hear the misfire he said he didn't have tools to do a pressure test.. I'm still convinced that it's an air lock and water on the plugs Removing a spark plug wouldn't of been a big ask to try cure the misfire or help us with trying to bleed the cooling system/check for leaks.. But there we go! Mine is only a ge non turbo is not as expensive to repair but I sure hope it's not damaged the head or anything :-/

Wow, wasn't expecting an official response but okay, i'll give you a call.. Wonder how they found the thread?! In fairness it was one of the mansfield group that got sent out after the AA couldnt send anyone as it must of been a busy night as it took 3 hours for them to arrive! so yeah you can see why I wasnt probably best pleased after waiting for so long at that time to get nowhere and be told jus drive it back and call us back if you have any issues...although like I said he was a nice enough chap and we had a chat .. just not one tool was reached for lol he reckoned it could be head gasket even though I told him the scenario with the puddles in the bores and a quite strong possibility for an airlock, he sniffed the coolant which seemed clear and left it at that.. think he was jus shattered and wanted to sleep as much as me! generally I have always been happy with the AA and tbf the Mansfield group too.. last guy who helped me out when my clios alternator decided to die halfway down the m6 was spot on and dead helpful!
