  1. Well, apart from waiting for my gearbox filter and swapping solenoids over when I get the chance, just a spray job to go and some smoothing.... How she looks so far from when I bought her, (hope you guys prefer how I got her up to now since the veilside kit that was already fitted.. If not... I'm the one who drives her... I like it up to now )
  2. Cheers wile e Gunna get on with that today David. And everything I said above, straight out the window again. Hope this filter hurries up as it's just jumping into neutral now between gears until about 4k revs, even then it's still not gone up a gear
  3. As nobody could help me with the above..... I'd just wanted to thank u all for replying and trying to help regarding gear issues and let you know, magically, the car seems to be behaving gear wise now. All smooth, around 22800-3000rpm @ 70mph depending what mood she's in, but still, I've ordered my filter/gasket set so will obviously crack on with that when it arrives as DaveP suggested, along with the gut feeling this car has everything in it from when it was built 22 years ago and nobody within that time has ever bothered with the old girl. On another subject, hoping not to have to start a new thread and annoy people.... All has so far seemed hunky dory, bar the odd one or ten poor cold starts (splutter like mad, kick into revs, shed loads of black smoke, all since engine oil change), now the car is sat on my high Street, drove it to the bank, a couple minutes away, pretty high revs again, stopped, turned off, now it won't starts, it's trying to, you can just tell, but not igniting, just a strong burning smell, and (for want of a better explanation) a very carbon/rich smell from under hood/exhaust. Given the fact the car hasn't had any tlc and I stood it up for 18 month until a year ago, would you say time for new plugs? If so, any other parts I should look at changing in the process so as not to go half assed? Please, no engine swap jokes or change of car jokes, hears them all, they bore me. I'm just a guy who loves his first supra (albeit an n/a) and want it running sweet Many thanks guys, if no reply, I'll make a new thread, but hoping to keep it here
  4. Out of curiosity. Apart from the obvious that's not usually there, what would those standard wires be?
  5. After draining what was black crap, refilling with fresh, and wiping on something white, I'm not seeing much fresh, so I think a full drain may be a good idea Then leave it until my filter and gasket arrive and start new
  6. Definitely no difference, so next step is to wait for my filter as dave suggested to change. Looking at what I've replaced over time, the car hasn't been bothered with for decades
  7. Not red as id think it should be after emptying 2.5 litre and replacing with same amount, to me it's now too much but now smells fresh
  8. Yep that's the one. When I dipped it, it's wet around the max hot mark, but only wet with what was the old fluid, earlier all I had was a blob of fresh red fluid at the tip?!
  9. I'm correct in saying my trans stick is the little orange one to the back?
  10. I tried to take a pic but doesn't really show that well
  11. No, clearly one says oil on it, which is the furthest one forward, which is engine oil
  12. So I've ordered my filter, double checked fluid level, using your method, running through gears stationary, done everything dave said (apart from the full flush of course as only just bought filter so got to wait) Dip stick was wet near max when hot, but only a blob of red at the very bottom tip of fresh fluid. Car only seems to have problem in D position, whether I be in man-u mode (switching up through from L, to 2nd is fine) or general driving from the get go in full D gear. So until I get my filter not a lot I can do, so once again, without a car :\
  13. Ok will do. Got the weekend off so going to go through it. Ended up starting a new thread as my old one wouldn't show on my phone for some reason I couldn't find it
  14. Thanks for that, I shall check the level again tonight after work. I have posted a new thread with what's gone on so far
  15. Right I'll get the filter sorted and go from there
  16. Actually, when I had the high idle issue (still ongoing at times) if I remember correctly, a friend was messing under there with plugs, sure he was unplugging s few things and plugging them back in - - - Updated - - - Thank you dave
  17. http://pages.ebay.com/motors/link/?nav=item.view&id=171651061744&alt=web This any good dave?
  18. No, not myself. don't touch stuff I have no knowledge of personally.
  19. With engine running and hot.
  20. So, on a small run, all seemed ok after fresh atf, took the car out last night, was ok for a couple mile, back to square one, no gear change after 2nd, sometimes a little shift to 3rd until putting a little more on the pedal. Then straight into second again. I correct myself, it's fluttering between 3rd and 4th as and when it feels like it, the whole journey to work from howden to thorne Also, I did the fault code check and nothing came up
  21. So... Yeah, changed the atf.... Seemed ok on a little run, just been on a longer run..... Redlining all the way, still nothing after 2nd gear.... Drive does not work at all
  22. Cheers guys. I think maybe changing the atf might be another thing to do, just to say it's been done at least. If I get home at a decent time tonight I'll crack on with fault codes! Also something I neglected to mention but have a couple of times in the past on old threads, at around 3.2k revs, eml comes on, it's always done this
  23. Sweet, but looks like a day off tomorrow seeing as I have no mode of transport
  24. Jeez, I work upto 13 hours a day up to 6 days a week and this is my daily car until scooby is sorted
