  1. that must be one of the most creepiest places on earth to walk around, surreal for real
  2. Well after having the BT guy round he managed to sort out an internet issue. He also took the face plate off the phone socket and plugged in the router direct in the socket that sits behind the faceplate. He called it a 'Raw' connect - speed went up from 2.7mbs to 4+ !!! Well chuffed - thought I would share! Cheers Far
  3. See attached. Friend of mine has had this around his work all morning and they have managed to only get 7 in 4 hours! Enjoy!
  4. I work in the city and refused to go in casual, infact I put on the brightest and loudest shirt/tie combination I could
  5. amid the G20 protests etc and in the concrete jungle that is London stands a small company called AIG who my wife works for. Yesterday they were given orders to wear casual clothing incase they get targetted by terrorists/protestors etc LOL ....which I found hilarious, its not as if they all wear AIG uniforms to work This 'thought leadership' comes from one of the worlds biggest financial institutions - no wonder we are up sh1t creak

  7. Its ok, kinda like them 'refreshing towels' you get on aeroplanes:search:
  8. I had one, I had that space craft landing game and some card game on it Remember how hard the keyboard was to use? you would have to really press down the 'keys' to get any response. I didnt acquire mine until about '85 though and then the atari 2600 was doing the rounds which I believe was one of the first consoles ever
  9. Grrrr got my postcard through the post with a small 'peel me' sticker and fragranced swab
  10. there also seems to be a skyline in the driveway:D
  11. I have had to deal with a couple of customers who have gone into liquidation, I would firstly find out if the company is actually going into liquidation or is the company just closing. If its being liquidated then the firm should be able to give you the details of the liquidators If its a LTD company then the liability is not with the director (ie their assetts cannot be ceased etc) as the company is classed as an entity itself. Your should read here http://www.companieshouse.gov.uk/infoAndGuide/faq/liquidationInsolve.shtml
  12. maybe she thinks the parents wont approve?
  13. ....did you pay by CC btw? Cancel the payment and let them chase you instead
  14. I ALWAYS stand over the fitter when they are doing my rims and never leave wheels/tyres on site for some junior mechmonkey to bump and grind my rim
  15. wtf has the country come to? Prison? looks more like a holiday camp, no discipline, no compulsary work its a bloody joke. 'The girls can choose to work' - bloody p1ss take!!!! Ok I see the point in providing these young women stability etc but this 'prison' environ is taking the mick. One girl bottled someone and put them in hospital, got 19 months - has a TV in her room, is allowed to roam free for 10 hours per day and earns £20 per week I say put them in chains and give them hard graft 24/7 until they have red raw knuckes and realise their wrong doings! There are girls in there who are saying they dont want to get out! Hotel Holloway - too right!
  16. wtf is going on with the first one? Is that a real cop?
  17. you need to define your products into target groups, you then need to only sell them particular services into these relevent job function target groups. Draw yourself a strategy canvass. Use it everyday and you will soon find your flow When mapping your strategy canvass keep it simple. Make a list of everything you sell, then think in terms of who would use that particular service/product e.g. Hardware -would you pitch this to a Finance director? NO! (as he wouldnt know what to do with it) Outsourcing would you pitch this to a finance director? YES! he would be able to see tangible benefits and cost reductions. A sales strategy canvass is not rocket science but so many people miss doing this. Everytime you make an O/G call refer to the canvass and get an idea in your mind. The basic mapping would be: (1) Product> (2)Target Group Job Function> (3) Tailored Pitch Content ^ Map out each of your products to the above If you want any help with it then let me know 1.5 weeks is no time at all to find your feet, hows the management there? supportive or is it more of a 'sink or swim' type sales floor?
  18. As someone who has empathy with people trying to do their job I give any decent caller 20 seconds to engage, if they have a good pitch then I let them continue. If the product/service the rep is selling holds value or delivers more than what my existing supplier is offering then I would give the person all the time in the world. If you do business in Scandinavia or other European companies it is so much different because people have time for each other
  19. Great dude - that book is the bible of sales, my teams and I gave billed millions in sales across various companies and job functions I have worked for over the years, I would swear by it. Even though now I have adopted and customised various elements the foundation has remained constant. Glad your MD has a copy too Dude selling outsourcing, monitoring services or helpdesk is very difficult to IT managers, your target group is wrong. You might as well tell them you are selling them something that will help reduce their team and may even threaten their own job security. For these services you need to target FD's, Group Financial controllers and MD's/CEO's - i.e. people who have a remit to reduce costs - these guys are usually 'gatekeepered' but once you get through and deliver your message the rewards are much better, you dont have to then deal with budget allocation (since you will be talking to budget holders) and your target group will be much more defined and more importantly relevent. Im not saying disregard IT managers completely - hardware and anything that generally makes their job easier is of interest. BTW sounds like you have got through to some people and engaged - well done! keep us posted!
