Happens to me all the time on here matey, hence my 'more invisible post data' jibe
-
My posts really are invisible! I could have sworn I suggested that very plan on page 4. This is the best example yet!

Excellent, more 'invisible post' theory data.

Nah, sell it.

Ummmm... Missus wants an auto You want a manual You need some money Sell the Supra, keep the Aristo, buy another cheaper Supra, pay the money you owe with the difference between your Supra and the cheaper Supra. Auto NA Aerotop for the missus - 5K? Does 6K (or whatever the difference would be after you've sold your car) cover the money you owe? If it were me I'd just get her a cheap auto car - then everything works out. And I have to say... no way would I put a car before my missus

Fantastic idea! Hey, hang on a second...
-
Simon, buy my car and have it as your official show car

Local paper? Supermarket small ads? Great places to pick up that old duffer's car that's been kept in the garage every night for the last 15 years and washed every Sunday morning.
-
hehe, that's true! If you do this bit though remember to tape off the green indicators bits so you don't get paint on them (there's also some odd tin foil stuff on the back (presumably to stop them melting from the massive heat of the indicator dash bulbs - good ol' Toyota) and I taped these off too just to be sure).

Never seen it in my local Halfords, that's why I ended up asking a friend. You could try 'paints4u' (not sure if it's com or co uk), an extensive online paint website. Yellow pages? My local paint shop is tucked away behind a multi storey, you'd never know about it otherwise!
-
I remember it from a magazine review - it was as the Supra was being retired and it said something like 'Toyota are taking it off the market, it's never been a great success, only 623* have been sold'. *or whatever
-
Yeah, somewhere around the 620-650 mark definitely. I tried finding out for definite a while back through a 'contact' but no luck, he didn't have sufficient access level.

Gulp, someone's using the sheet. I'm nervous.

Sorry, I need more of a runabout

You can see the effect in my car for sale ad linked in my sig. I'd never heard of matt lacquer either but I asked a friend of a friend who runs a local paint shop and he said 'Sure, pop in'. I told him what I was doing and he looked totally non-plussed and said 'How much do you want?'. 10 mins later I was walking out with a 500ml aerosol of matt lacquer for about £5. It worked a treat. Protects the paint and gives a nice matt finish. I was a bit dubious myself but I can't fault the stuff. Edit: the picture of the boost gauge is probably the best example. See how shiny the boost gauge surround/ring is compared to the dash behind it (bear in mind the two are about 1cm apart so the light reflection is practically the same). I was planning to matt lacquer the boost gauge surround/ring to match it up more.

Because it has that rubbery coating on it. I have no idea how well paint would adhere to it.
-
I do not have the power to shift any of them, but I accept your apology.

Isn't this in the wrong section...? (as stated in the forum rules)

Have a good one deary.

Sandpaper, bits of perspex, a wallpaper scraper, and a wire brush on a mini-drill for the tricky-to-reach bits (like around the dashboard dimmer switch). Oddly the ashtray (smallest bit) takes the longest, whereas the main dashboard piece (biggest bit) is quickest! Don't forget to do the inside of the dial housing too - so many people don't bother to do this and I have no idea why. It's the bit behind the perspex on the dials that has the little green squares for the indicator arrows. If you don't do this you end up looking at your dials with the first half of the 'tunnel' in silver (or whatever colour you've done the dash) and the second bit in black. Personally I think it looks very odd, although I seem to be one of the few people (I think only Dude was the other one I've seen) who do this bit. Oh, and use matt lacquer, not shiny, if you want more of an aluminium look. Edit: Just to say that it is an utter shitty job that I hope I never have to do anything like again in my life ever again ever ever no ever.

This year I'm going to start using Ebay to buy and sell some stuff - I've never done either before. I've had a Paypal account for a few months now but actually using Ebay is another matter. Are there any particular hints or tips I need to know before starting? I'm aware of the African scams and stuff, and that rating is everything so do whatever you need in order to keep it up (oo er, etc) but are there are other things to look out for, what to say and not to say in adverts, what to look for when buying... anything at all really. I'm not selling anything amazing (just some books), but I will be wanting to buy some stuff. So many people seem to be totally at ease with it but I just find the whole process quite scary. I've also noticed that many people say stuff like 'If this is your first time buying please email me first' - why is that? Thanks folks

A. J. Dedmans. I think they're probably listed as being in Much Hadham though. They're a general garage with a bloke who does bodywork, not a bodyshop as such. They did a couple of bits on my 200SX after someone backed into the rear bumper (twice!) and also fixed some work another bodyshop had done on the front lip where the paint had started to peel off. It's a family concern so they rely on having a good reputation, and as a consequence they do good quality work at a good price. They've done all the general service work on my 200SX and Supra for the last 9 years or so - I wouldn't go anywhere else, I trust them completely. I'll post the full address + phone tonight when I get home.

Is it time to ditch all the other threads in this forum? That was the idea of me producing the one single document, to just tidy the whole lot up. Just thought I'd ask, no offence meant, it's your forum, etc, etc.

Well the weather finally cleared up enough for me to take some photos. Silver Twin Turbo Aerotop, auto, 89k miles, decatted by Chris Wilson (CW replacement pipes, Thor fuel cut defender, uprated Walbro fuel pump, restrictor ring), side skirts and rear spats, AVS 17" alloys, Goodyear F1s all round, interior updated by Gibson & Boyne in Spring 2005 with BMW grey+Toyota black new leather on steering wheel, gear stick, handbrake, cubby hole, gloveboxes, door cards and front & rear seats (£1800 spent and under a year old). Dashboard resprayed in silver with matt lacquer finish (not shiny), blue LED conversion by Emin (aka Supra TT Myster), unique custom Thor aluminum dials with T1 and T2 rev markers so you know when the exciting stuff is gonna happen, Race Logic Traction Control (RLTC) fitted by Matt Harwood, fantastic sounding HKS Priest exhaust (not too loud and the only one on this forum as far as I know). Shown with Pioneer CD which won't be included (simply drop your stereo of choice straight in, 5 minute job, the leads and connectors are all staying). All the top-of-the-range GZ extras (electric drivers seat, active spoiler, cruise control, aircon, 7 speaker system). Car is garaged each night, driven carefully (not thrashed, not taken over 2500rpm until thoroughly warmed up, never been sideways), serviced every 4000 miles, service history since it's been in the UK, the previous owner is on this forum so you can ask them about the car, has just had new UK-spec shock absorbers and UK springs fitted and was serviced in Oct 2005 (Denso spark plugs fitted now). Starter motor was also reconditioned by Chris Wilson earlier in the year. Has just sailed through another MOT with no faults at all so that won't need doing again until Oct 2006. Aerotop roof panel and seals are entirely leak free. Basically this is a pampered TT Aerotop with 'standard' upgrades (decat, RLTC, alloys, side skirts) that's been totally faultless for the past 2 years I've owned it. Any work carried out that was Supra-specific was performed by contacts on this board (you're welcome to ask them about the car but they see so many I doubt they'll remember me or it), general servicing was performed by my trusted garage who you can speak to for an independent review if you wish. The new owner will probably want to change the custom boost gauge as it couldn't really be called accurate (a good indicator of the easy life the car has had with me, I couldn't really care less what the exact boost was!), one side skirt has an minor old sticker mark that will require respraying (I've been quoted £100 but it's easily a DIY job) and the valve stem seals will need replacing at some point in the future. Absolutedly nothing wrong with the performance, it's just smoking a little on start up. Approx cost to fix: £350 (there's even a 'how-to' on this site if you fancy doing it yourself). The manual mode light on the dials doesn't light up due to the replacement dial backing not being cut away to allow it to shine through - I've never used manual mode so it never bothered me, but again it's an easy fix (45 mins maybe?). The carpet was worn beside the drivers seat and a square cut out and replaced but it's not especially noticeable. There's also a mark on the rear wing and on the Aerotop roof, pics of these can be supplied if required. I didn't need to point all these out, but I'm being fair & honest so that hopefully you'll be fair & honest with me. Price: Currently insured with the club insurer Sky for £10,000, but I'm pricing to sell at only £8,500 - have a look on Autotrader and see if you can find an equivalent Aerotop for that price. Reason for selling: to be honest, I just don't use or need the performance. My journey to work is now along 30mph-40mph limits and I really just need more of an A-to-B car. And the extra cash will help pay for a new kitchen. Contact me by reply, pm or email ([email protected]), I don't mind. Harlow based, one stop up the M11 from M25 junction, also 20 mins away from Stanstead airport - can arrange to view the car there if required. With regard to the speaker covers, an additional set of original black mesh ones will be included. Also included in the price - 2 original cats for the exhaust, one dash clock (boost gauge replaced it), complete set of original Toyota dials if you don't like the blue ones, one UK heated seat switch converted to a fog light + aerial up/down switch (untried!), one remote controlled Supra model, probably some other Supra-related bits that I've forgotten too. The new owner may wish to change the rear number plate...
