  1. cheers for the heads up mate! my phone is smart, but not very. i need to upgrade soon to get some other aps so i'll do that then- didn't even know it existed! would be very handy cheers
  2. i've said it before, i'll say it again. kawasaki green on any colour car. same bonkers as pedro i think..... https://scontent-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/547567_10151447761659735_1801569990_n.jpg
  3. you guys are legends- thanks very much for that, helped me get to the point I wanted to get to before packing up- much appreciated I'm starting to love this forum .................................
  4. as I said mate it isn't displaying on my PC just wondered if anyone knew off hand or could take a mo to have a look for me?
  5. Hi All, Does anyone know the UK brake caliper mounting bolt torque figures and the brake line to caliper torque figures, preferably in Nm? My home PC isn't playing and is not displaying the manual on the home page for some reason! Any help appreciated, just about to assemble the N/S. Cheers!
  6. its not too dark mate, I'm off out to work on my brakes right now come on, you can do it! yep its a 14mm, slackened off mine on sat and re-nipped ready for removal tonight if all goes to plan. also when I did my research I came across the above threads mentioned- I have a vacuum kit on its way too, should make the job nice and easy to do alone
  7. and a great diagram it is too- many thanks for that fella, have printed it off and I'll go and have a play in the garage. I think I'm gonna see how it goes with just the stick on shims first though. I think. Not sure. This will help me decide! Thanks again for the help
  8. that's cool mate. time to start thinking about the plans for the year now anything booked in yet? I'm hoping to be out end of march for a shake down. that's the aim anyhow! that's good to know thanks man. TBH I've done it before and just used the ones supplied with the pads, so I'll do that again. I remember helping a mate do some pads on the front of an ST205 celica once which is very similar (same pads infact) and no shims were used at all then. Yep, that's the clip that is riveted to the pad, but there are also two other small ones which appear to just cowl one corner of the pad around its edge. never seen that sort of thing before! I'll see how I go without them, as from what I can tell you have to sandwich them in with stock shims. it'll be reet. he says. with confidence!
  9. Hi All, I'm getting to the point where i'll be loading my UK front calipers with pads soon. Note- this is a track car primarily and I can cope with a bit of noise etc. So my question is- do you need all the shims and clips? From what I can gather, there are 2 shims and a corner clip per pad. Also, does anyone have a clear diagram, or a link to one- the one i've been using isn't the highest of resolution! I have everything in a bag disassembled and if i do fit everything I want to make sure I get it right. In other cars in the past I've just used the plastic / rubber shims supplied with the pads (EBC) and a smear of copper grease with no problems, but just wanted to ask if anyone has experience of trying this with the UK brakes and had problems. I'd assume the same theory would apply to LS400 brakes as they are a similar design. TIA Dan
  10. reakon i'll get away with this?? answers on a postcard..................

    Toyota GT-86

quite similar performance wise (a to b that is) to an NA soop in stock form. its a bit unfair as my soop is an early one, 20 years old so many parts will be worn- and many ponies escaped I imagine- but stock spec I didn't stand a chance (my driving skills also don't help) against the GT86 when it was first released. however, now I have a few handling mods I'm mixing it in with stock GT86's at sprint events. I was up against eleven (in class- there were 2 turbo ones too) of the bu66ers at blyton park last year, I managed to scalp 6 of them- so just over half! to be fair, most if not all of those drivers were novices though it just puts a smile on my face when I think I paid 10% of the list price of a new GT86. ok I've had to spend more since but I still like to think that To summarise I absolutely love the GT86- its no soop, totally different character of car, but I love them for what they are. Just my 2P and that orange one above- wow
  12. PS Pedro- following up from a previous conversation- I too have my front set to soft, took this pic today: to OP that's what the end my front whiteline ARB looks like after 12 months, 4K miles and 6 track events. HTH
  13. I run the whiteline adjustable front and rear on my track NA soop. As highlighted above- you certainly get what you pay for- whiteline ones are steel unlike OEM and weigh a ton, and as said, over time the paint will flake and they will corrode etc. IIRC when I researched, titan or cusco ones are alloy but are nearly twice the price- that may not still be true. BUT- if like me you are on a budget, and your main concern is handling- I can't recommend them enough. Much flatter and more controllable IMHO. I used whiteline on my previous track car too, and when I removed it after 3 years (and about 30k miles) its appearance did leave a lot to be desired, but it was 100% still intact and performed its function. What I'm trying to get at is if you want it too look shiny at shows etc aswell as improve the handling of your car, they might not be for you. If its just the handling, like me, and you're not really concerned what they look like long term, then go for it. I'm not disappointed
  14. those are stunning! that is all.
  15. sorry mate I've only just read your post ha ha modest too hey well from where I'm sat and my experience of trying to drive a supra sideways I have a lot of respect I can believe it- they are rather tank like! so have you had the grinder out over the xmas break? I have a question for those who run Toyota 4 pot calipers- do you guys bother with all the shims and clips on your pads etc? on other cars (different types of calipers though) I've thrown all that away and just used EBC rubber / plastic shims and a smear of coppergrease, with no problems. I've looked at what I have for the 4 pots and there are 2 shims and a small corner spacer type thing for each pad- do you guys use these? cheers in advance
  16. 2JZ-GTE engine was supplied in the UK therefore 2JZ-GTE import will be tested to the same standard. 2JZ-GE was never supplied in a UK market car therefore they have no UK comparison, and by the letter of the MOT regs they have a very loose emissions test. Search for it, its all there. For the record I run dual cats an 2.5" single box system, at the track it clocks about 86db. single / twin box systems can make a big difference to noise as cats and bore. - - - Updated - - - apologies you beat me to it!
  17. That's cool mate, shout me up when you get time they're still here and i've not advertised them.
  18. PS- I assume you don't need my spare rims now oliver?
  19. LOL. I'm a pretty crap driver but I've beat a few ST205 celicas and GT86 this year in my stock engined NA. at one event I was the fastest street class car (interior, no track tyres, limited mods) at the whole event, very twisty circuit too. I have lots of fun in my NA and its enough for me for the foreseeable, but I still stand by what I said to the OP- if he hankers power- an NA won't be enough.
  20. proof that I'm a weirdo lol. no plans for more horsepower in the near future. TBH the ponies mine has (despite many escaping over the last 20 years!) is enough for me to have a lot of fun and still learn. one thing I will say to anyone- if you are a horsepower person and crave BHP, do not bother with an NA. I've always had the lower power version from cars and got my kicks from changing suspension etc, so totally different thing for me. but many drivers in owners clubs I've been in over the years never seemed to be happy until they got the top model.
  21. that colour is stunning mate! want one myself. good work
  22. the EBC catalogue has a good guide if you ever need it. try this link: http://ebcbrakes.com/assets/ecatalogues/2010-auto-pad-shoe/EBC-2010-Pad-Shoe-Catalogue.html#p=358 hope it works.
  23. just a couple of pics. thanks again to the lads who helped, really appreciate it. https://scontent-b-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-frc3/1532124_10151960703414735_1544919607_n.jpg https://scontent-a-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-frc3/1532124_10151960703409735_984355408_n.jpg https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn2/1532124_10151960703424735_124800910_n.jpg kudos. oh and apologies for the lack of colour co-ordination, not good at that.
  24. I don't drift but I do sprint a stock NA 5 speed. Done a couple of track days too. No problems so far except a coolant leak, fingers crossed. - - - Updated - - - PS nice vid
